My wife, daughter and I visited on Saturday, this was only for lunch and since it was our first visit we ordered two standard Chinese dishes, we got the Kung Pao Chicken and fried rice. The Kung Pao Chucken literally was only chicken and peanuts, no vegetables, not even onions and bell peppers. Their Kung Pao sauce was IMHO not good, possibly an authentic schezwan dish, but nothing like I ever had before, loaded with schezwan pepper and chili oil, yet not particularly spicy. As a comparison Panda Express's Kung Pao Chicken is more spicy and not oily and has bell peppers and zucchini, and is just plain better in my novice opinion. Also their Kung Pao was loaded with peanuts, nearly 50/50 ratio of peanuts to chicken, this was strange and not good, to me, I enjoy a few peanuts, but it would seem more normal to have a lot more chicken than peanuts. The dish was literally chicken, peanuts, and a lot of schezwan pepper and chili oil. I mean just plain dripping in chili oil. The fried rice was better, a mix green onions, eggs, pork and shrimp. Good but dry, not enough sauce, and there were no condiments such as soy or hoisin on table, so we couldn't add our own. The resturant was packed, probably a dozen dishes on menu that could have been more to my liking. But I thought going with Kung Pao for first visit seemed like a smart choice, but I was wrong at this place. Honestly, if this authentic, I would be better off just going to Cantonese style places in the future, I just could not get past the level if schezwan pepper and chili oil. I've been to Chilispot probably 4x by now since discovering them and they are AMAZING!!! They are super legit and authentic! Best value too! They are super welcoming and delicious!!! They always greet you, in Mandarin (?), and I would respond back with "Ni Hao" to be nice and they thought we were Chinese and kept speaking to us in Chinese. The server probably was disappointed that we don't speak Chinese lol! But my Husband and I aren't Chinese at all. It was cute and funny at the same time. Anyway, they give you BIG portions of food! So much that it can feed you again another meal or 2. Our favorite dishes so far have been the following: Potstickers with a sweetened chili sauce pairing Chongqing Spicy Popcorn Chicken Chongqing Lomein Szehuan Style Boiled Fish in Chili Oil All dishes were flavorful, bold and scrumptious. Beware of the spice levels because the Boiled Sliced fish really got me sweating and begging for water. But don't let it scare you, they have non-spicy options. The potstickers dipping sauce made it taste so much better. I always go back to places based on their in-house made sauces and this one takes it. Top notch Sichuan restaurant in Orlando! Came here on a whim and was very pleasantly surprised with the prompt service and stellar food. The fried fish with chilis and peppers was my favorite. I also enjoyed the boiling beef in chili oil. EHR flavors were authentic and definitely had the "ma la", which is the dull, numbing spice. Decided to check out this fairly new place. The modernly decorated restaurant is filled on this Sunday night. Spacious dining room. We didn't have to wait a long time for the food. May be we only ordered a bunch of appetizers and a couple of their desserts. Most of them are cold dishes. The spicy Szechuan dishes were not as spicy as I expected. Overall presentation is nice but nothing really stands out， except the dessert, fried rice cake in brown sugar. The outside was crispy and inside is chewy and soft. I have to give that a thumbs up. Felt a little funny when we had to order dishes from the menu which has no price listed. The restroom was not kept tidy and clean ... not sure if it was because it was towards the end of the night ... but I will suggest periodic spot cleaning. However, the restaurant had many people in the waitlists at this moment. They didn't accept reservation in advance. It's great to have an authentic Chinese style restaurant in this part of town. The menu selection is great and the food we ordered was delicious and tasted authentic. However, we took 1 star off because the cleanliness of plates and cups need work. One of our plates and both of our cups had dried stuck food. I'm sure they were washed, but were not scrubbed before going through the commercial dishwasher. Looking at the health department scores, there are a number of violations. Everything else was great, so I hope management will read this to put more effort into this area. Most restaurants are not perfect, but clean plates and cups should be a given every time. read more
