Very lightly battered. And slices of green chilis throughout. It is tender and crispy from the light batter. Slight spicy but not much just notes of the chilies. Good to air fry when you reheat this. Red Roast pork soup is quite the comfort food. I've enjoyed this soup for many years. Tasty Wok is an institution! I order this soup with shrimp dumplings. Each time I order it, they tell me that shrimp dumplings are extra. They are very much worth it, by the way! The noodles in this soup are egg noodles. The tender bite draws you back. The chinese spinach is nourishing and offers iron to give you strength. The crispy pork is amazing. But it is really crunchy. At this restaurant they sell it by the pound, right along side the hanging duck which is by the pound as well. They sell so many dishes that are well-loved, but I tend to get the soup. The staff were friendly and prompt. We came around late lunch and it was picking up after we were seated. The space is wide and has the old traditional Chinese restaurant aesthetics with a slight modernization. You can see all the crispy meats hanging at the front counter like a traditional shop. We ordered the Shrimp Wonton Soup with Egg Noodles. My go-to for comfort food. I've been a customer since college days and they make one of the best shrimp wontons. I know they've tweaked the recipe a little since the shrimp filling used to be ground up, which was better, but it didn't take away from the freshness. The broth is consistently flavorful with fresh greens and egg noodles. I somehow like the texture of the noodles more than the spaghetti size ones. We ordered the Crispy pork Belly and Duck combo which is really well seasoned. Some bites may be a little salty but it balances out with the rice. You can hear the crunch on the pork belly which is my favorite. We also got the Beef Chow Fun. It's wide noodles and cooked with scallions, beansprouts, and white onions. It was cooked over a flame so you can taste a hint of a char which is not overwhelming or greasy. It's the perfect balance to all the items. What I didn't order was the Water Spinach but it is one of my favorite vegetable dishes. You have to try it when it's available! I had hot tea with it and lots of hot chili oil in my dishes! Okay, I'm definitely coming here when I'm in the area. My friend ordered some of the best house special friend rice I've tasted in a long time! On top of being the BEST Chinese food (maybe just duck and crispy pork heh) in town, I really encourage everyone to patronize their place to fight the gentrification rampant in what used to be our "Vietnamtown." Came by for dinner the other night and it was a tasty experience. Tasty Wok is located on the main strip of Mills50. The restaurant seems to be Vietnamese-Chinese focusing on roast meats. Parking is available in the private lot or surface streets around the restaurant. Staff were cordial and the restaurant was empty during my Friday evening visit. Started off with the garlic pea sprouts and it was a gigantic portion with plenty of garlic. Moved on to the bo kho beef stew and it was very fragrant and tender. There were plenty of fatty pieces, including tendons. My wife and I had lunch today (10/26) at Tasty Wok. We ordered noodle soup with barbecue pork., ma po tofu and pea pod tips. None of the dishes were good. The soup tasted like fish broth and the pork was very fatty. The ma po tofu was almost cold when served and despite our request when ordered had hot peppers. The pea pod tips had so much garlic that it was difficult to eat. The service was indifferent. There was a time when this was an excellent restaurant but unfortunately the owner has allowed the restaurant to decline so that now it's very mediocre. We came here on a Monday afternoon Feb 2023. The restaurant wasn't busy so we got seated right away. Service was awesome. Egg drop soup was awesome... and that's where it ended. My General TSO was so dry and hard I had to ask for a steak knife to cut it and even then it was a challenge. Scott got the Mandarin ribs, they were strange, 1 inch pieces of bone and meat, very dangerous to eat. Sauce was to sweet. The Orange chicken was passable had good flavor.
