We actually stumbled upon Luxe Bar & Bistro while planning to head downtown, but a bridge closure caused major traffic, so we decided to change plans and just find somewhere local to enjoy a holiday cocktail. After checking reviews online, Luxe Bar & Bistro stood out, so we decided to give it a try -- and we're so glad we did. They have a large outdoor space, but of course, it started to rain as soon as we arrived. Luckily, they also have a covered front patio with a few chairs, which worked out perfectly. We each ordered two cocktails. I started with Under the Mistletoe -- Tito's, house-made rosemary simple syrup, lemon juice, topped with soda ($10). This was hands down the most delicious holiday drink I've had so far this season. It was refreshing, perfectly balanced, and hit the spot. I also tried the seasonal special, a Pomegranate Cranberry Sangria ($10), which was equally good. My husband ordered the Tipsy Grinch-- Malibu rum, mango purée, blue curaçao, pineapple juice, and soda water ($9.50). He said it was sweet but not overly sweet and really enjoyed it. He also had the Dirty Snowman Martini with RumChata, Disaronno Amaretto, vanilla vodka, and a cinnamon sugar rim ($13). He substituted almond milk for the half-and-half, and it was still creamy and delicious. We also had a great conversation with Natalie and quickly realized we had a lot in common, especially when it comes to dogs and the importance of pet safety. I always love meeting a fellow dog mom who shares the same values. The service and ambiance were excellent, and the space was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We will 100% be back -- and next time, we definitely plan on trying the food.

I will say, the navigation and parking here is a challenge and moreover, the extended area outside can be a bit sketchy but in the relative vicinity it's safe. Walking up, I took the side entrance to the pool area under the tents. The staff here were very nice and engaging. I was able to get a plethora of drinks and strike up good conversations. I had two glasses of a Pino which was decent but, I'm not going to complain about "free." The food, well it was simple, by design in that's what we ordered. We had chicken fingers, sliders, crudies of carrots, olives and you get the point. It was fresh and while not earth shattering, it did it's purpose. They did offer games like corn hole, rings and a slew of other fun activities which I'm not sure if my company brought or they had available but the environment was one of fun and enjoyment. I will admit it was HOT but unless I missed something, they couldn't control the weather! Perhaps a couple well placed fans would help, especially aimed at the lawn chairs and picknick tables. Overall, this is a decent venue to hold a company party, get together or whatever else a social activity might entail. The people are nice, the place is clean and safe. I got their signature salad, an array of beautifully fresh leaves with finely shredded parmesan and pistachios. It is a distinctive combination that delivers flavor and a distinctive nutritional profile, and I savored it slowly. I also decided to try their peanut milk; peanuts have oddly escaped the alternative milk trend of the last ten years or so, but online research led me to believe that peanuts make a relatively nutritious and environmentally friendly beverage, and here they make their own peanut milk, so I gave it a shot in a chai. The flavor is certainly peanut, but the texture was smooth enough to make the dairy industry jealous, and while non-standard, the flavor combination with chai worked for me. It was quite expensive for a light breakfast, and that's after I eschewed their baked goods, but it is a quality experience.

They also have a permanent food truck with pizza and sides, all of which are solid. I haven't had a bad thing here and the service is super friendly. As a local, this is of one of my favorite hangouts in the charleston area!
