The BESTTT shaved ice ever from a local opinion!!! The shaved ice has a fine powder texture and the syrups are all homemade! It takes hours for them to take their syrup, so you can truly taste the quality. They're unlike the tourist traps if you know what I mean! Be sure to bring cash! The parking lot is behind the building or there is street parking!

Wanted to bring Doc and so glad she liked it. We all enjoyed it, 7-5-26. Really liked the Not Hot Chocolate and Hojicha with Snow Cap. The strawberry was a light delicate pink and good but the other two flavors, my new favorites. Being summer, constant stream of customers but the wait goes quickly.

Great local spot with wonderful service and ono shaved ice. They get busy and could be a wait, but worth it. Just go check out bread shop around the corner while you wait. Limited seating and cash only.

Shave Ice Fact: Hawaiian shave ice is a historic, finely shaved ice dessert introduced by Japanese immigrants during Hawaii's plantation era in the early 1900s. Unlike crunchy snow cones, it uses block ice for a powdery, snow-like texture that absorbs syrup. Randy S. told me to #KeepItKaimuki so that's what I'm going to do. You just don't question my Cycle Buddy about things, okay? And when Nadine told me, "It's 'shave ice' with no 'D,' unless you want to be caught being a tourist," it will forever be ingrained in my memory. It's kind of like how Rod U. mentioned once not to eat oysters on months that do not contain the letter "R" and that's how I live my life now. Shave ice! Shave ice! Shave ice! I got the guava, mandarin orange, and lychee but my eyes were glued to Cycle Buddy Randy S's coffee and matcha duo. It was so good! I also tried twinsie Nadine's hojicha, haupia, and something else. All three shave ice creations were good but that matcha and coffee duo is the flavor combo I crave. Great place and even better service. Chillest is the chillest place to cool off!

It's 96°F today so naturally I'm thinking about shave ice. After a delicious lunch of cake noodles, we stopped by for shave ice. It was a sweet treat, a tasty dessert, after a carb heavy meal. I shared a creation with a trio of bright fruit flavors and it hit the spot. It's a cozy place so eat your icy treat and get out and enjoy Oahu. Keep it Kaimuki.

Flavor Wall -- there's a few I've never heard of before.

Shave ice done right with a range of flavors! Favorite flavor combo: Strawberry milk, lychee, and coconut! ONO! Sweet and friendly staff, who doesn't love a family owned small business? Street parking available as well as a few stalls in the back of the store. 2 tables inside for seating with a nice bar top with a nice people watch view of Waialae Ave.

Amazing shave ice place. The owners and staff were so cute and welcoming. They even had a small business lady in the corner selling the best homemade mochi. The shave ice was also smooth and soft. It is heavily inspired by like Japanese shave ice. Highly recommend the coffee and their strawberry milk. Overall if I'm in the area will come again!

Mango & strawberry with snow cap. Sorry kids dug in before the camera work.

This was a pleasant surprise for me. I never expected shaved ice to have such flavors and texture with the syrups. Great place that deserves 5 stars, and I will go back definitely when I'm on the island again. In the group, I got to try the strawberry, which was my least favorite and I wouldn't order again. Strawberry milk was better; guava, pog, mango, snow cap, all were delicious.

Super good shaved ice!!! Nice family establishment!!! I highly recommend the coffee with ice cream!!! Soooooo yummy!

Always on the search for a good shave ice place, I came across Chillest Shave Ice on Waialae Ave. It's a small hole-in-the-wall near The Curb. I noticed there was a parking lot in back of their business, but I'm not sure if that was for employees or the public. I ended up parking at a metered spot on the street, which is often hard to find. Upon entrance, I was greeted by the friendliest people. Not sure if the lady & man were the owners or employees, but they were very sweet. It's a small interior with a community table and a counter bar that looks out to the street. Cash only! They have 1 size and you can choose up to 3 flavors. They have 3 flavor categories: $6 classic, $7 house and $8 house. If you select 1 flavor from each category, you'll be charged the highest flavor. They also offer $1 toppings: ice cream, mochi & azuki beans, as well as free snow cap. I selected the banana cream, vanilla cream & orange cream under the $6 flavors. When it arrived to my table, I was shocked to see how big it was! It's definitely shareable. The ice was shaved very fine and the flavors were delicious. I can only imagine what the upgraded flavors taste like! I will definitely return to try some of their other flavors and toppings. I love supporting small businesses like this.

Looking for shave ice? Come to Chillest! House made flavors make the finest shave ice pop! The Uji Matcha is well worth the extra dollar. Add strawberry milk and you've got yourself a cold strawberry matcha latte! So very flavorful! You can add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and you're in 7th heaven! Check out Chillest! I'm sure you'll be delighted by the owners, his staff, and especially delighted by the onolicious shave ice! (One size only)

    with mochi
    Doreen T.

I heard the mochi here are the best, so when they told me they were sold out for the day, I promised myself I'd come back the next day, and I did! Just a heads up: Chillest Shave Ice is cash only. There's parking in the back, and you can scan a QR code for one hour of free parking. Unfortunately, I arrived right after a group of 10 had just placed their order, so there was a bit of a wait, but it was absolutely worth it. I ordered the strawberry milk and haupia shave ice, topped with mochi and snow cap, and it was AMAZING. The ice is shaved so finely that it just melts in your mouth. I honestly didn't think I could finish it all, but somehow I devoured the entire thing, yes, all eight mochis! The service was warm and full of aloha spirit. There are 3 small tables inside and couple tables outside in the parking lot. Chillest is definitely going on my rotation list for future Oahu trips.

A towering bowl of heavenly shave ice! I've been here twice and I've loved both times. The shave ice is light and fluffy and the syrups are so flavorful and nuanced. Favorites are: Ramune Grape Strawberry milk Hojicha Always add a drizzle of condensed milk! The wait time for Shave Ice can arrange anywhere between 20 to 30 minutes depending on how busy they are, but it's very worth the wait. The portions are towering and there is a decent amount of seating. Be polite! Wait in line, wait for your order, eat and go. Don't linger around for too long knowing that there are others waiting for a seat to open up. Parking is located on the street or inside of the little lot behind the shave ice store. They take card and Apple Pay! So what are you waiting for? Go and get a bowl of Chillest Shave Ice!

Ululani's Is Not Just Shave Ice. It's a Hawaii Experience…read more No trip to Hawaii feels complete without shave ice, and after visiting **Ululani's**, I completely understand why so many people consider it the gold standard. I've had shaved ice all over the place, from county fairs to beach destinations, but nothing compares to what Ululani's is doing. The difference is noticeable from the very first bite. The ice itself is unbelievably soft and silky. It's not crunchy, chunky, or packed with hard ice crystals like so many other places. Instead, it melts almost instantly in your mouth, creating a smooth texture that feels more like a frozen cloud than traditional shave ice. The flavors were incredible. What really stood out was how fresh and authentic everything tasted. The syrups didn't have that overly artificial, sugar-heavy flavor that many shave ice shops rely on. Every bite tasted vibrant, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. You can tell they care about quality ingredients and getting the flavors right. What surprised me most was how refreshing the entire experience felt in the Hawaiian heat. After spending the day exploring Waikiki, walking the beach, soaking up the sun, and putting in miles on foot, Ululani's was exactly what I needed. It wasn't just dessert. It was instant relief. Sitting there with an ice-cold shave ice while surrounded by the laid-back energy of Hawaii created one of those simple vacation moments that you remember long after the trip is over. The staff were fantastic as well. Even with a steady flow of customers, everyone remained friendly, efficient, and welcoming. The line moved quickly, the ordering process was easy, and the employees maintained the kind of positive aloha spirit that visitors hope to find while they're on the islands. The atmosphere was fun, relaxed, and unmistakably Hawaiian. Families, locals, tourists, and beachgoers were all enjoying themselves, and it felt like one of those places that genuinely brings people together. Another thing I appreciated was the consistency. Every part of the shave ice was evenly flavored from top to bottom. There were no dry spots hidden in the middle. Every spoonful delivered the same delicious taste as the first. It's easy to understand how Ululani's has built such a loyal reputation. They have perfected something that seems simple on the surface but is actually difficult to do well. The quality of the ice, the flavors, the service, and the overall experience all come together perfectly. Honestly, this wasn't just the best shave ice I've had in Hawaii. It may have been the best shave ice I've ever had. If you're visiting Oahu and wondering whether Ululani's is worth the stop, the answer is absolutely yes. Whether you've spent the day at the beach, are cooling off after sightseeing, or simply want a taste of one of Hawaii's most iconic treats, this place delivers. Some vacation memories come from major attractions. Others come from simple moments, like enjoying an incredible shave ice on a beautiful Hawaiian day. Ululani's gave me one of those moments. **Refreshing, delicious, authentic, and absolutely unforgettable. Five stars all day long.**
