Quick in and out. Not very busy. Reasonably priced. Chicken tikka masala was average.. Not sure I would go back.

Absolutely delicious dinner!…read more We made reservations online about 2 months ago. 5:15 dinner worked well for us since we had a show at 7. We checked in on the lady with the tablet on the right side of the entrance. The left side is for walk ins. Super long line even at 5pm. But they were handing out small glasses of chai and something else. Anyway, the reservation line is short and they sat us right away. We wished we could have sat at the patio - it's covered. We didn't see that until we were already drinking. Well, next time! The ambiance - beautiful spot with lots and lots of tables. Every single one of them was taken. Tons of staff! They take good care of you here. Patrons vary, from dates to family dinners - the whole gamet! Come one, come all! The drinks came out right away. Dishoom IPA and chai. Beer came with a frosted glass. The chai was delicious! The food was amazing! Goan monkfish curry Ruby chicken Saffron cauliflower Garlic naan Basmati rice Everything was superb! I works happily go back tomorrow night!

The hostess was very accommodating and understanding, and didn't turn us away. Star 1. Our server, Georgia was amazing with excellent recommendations. Star 2 We had the garlic nan, prawns, chicken ruby and black Daal. Star 3 For dessert, a small yogurt treat with raspberries and lychee. Star 4 Will, a manager, was personable and hardworking - bussing, wiping and setting up tables. He took some time to chat and informed us that Dishoom is coming to NY and we hope he comes along, too! Star 5. Do not skip this experience.

My husband…read moreand I came here for dinner because it was within walking distance of our Airbnb, and we were so glad we did. Small tables but good ambiance. We started with the Tiltala Jhinga, which was absolutely incredible, followed by the Onion Bhaji, which was delicious--especially with the mango chutney. For my main course, I ordered the Murg Tikka Masala, and it was outstanding. It was rich, creamy, full of flavor, and not spicy at all, which was exactly what I was hoping for. Just keep in mind that rice and naan are ordered separately, but the garlic naan was hands down the best I've ever had--soft, buttery, and packed with garlic. My husband ordered the Lamb Angara, and while he really enjoyed it, I have to admit I thought my Tikka Masala was even better. If you're in the mood for something lighter, I also recommend the avocado salad. The simple olive oil and lemon (or vinegar) dressing was fresh and refreshing, making it a great addition to the meal. The service was excellent as well. The staff was attentive, friendly, and provided great customer service throughout our visit. We were also able to walk in without a reservation and were seated immediately. Overall, we had a fantastic dining experience and would definitely return. Highly recommended!

The other dishes were very good as well, though not quite to the top tier in differentiation in flavor. Might have been the dishes I ordered, however I expected a larger variation in taste between them. Still, was excellent and wouldn't hesitate to eat here again, with two orders of chat bombs

We were mostly nervous that it was going to be a much nicer restaurant that we were dressed for (which was very casual and sweaty after a mid-June day walking all over London), but despite the white tablecloths and general fancier feeling of the inside of the restaurant, we were not made to feel out of place. The outside and signage are more low-key/casual looking so you need to be looking for it too, Cafe Ishaq won't be jumping out at you. It was empty of customers when we entered, around 7pm, so we were seated immediately. Cold waters were ordered all around, as well as several bottles of wine to share amongst the many of us. Prices are shockingly decent, but then there is a sort of hidden service fee (a percentage of the bill) added on at the end, much like in the US when some places have an automatic tip added on for parties over a certain number of people. This was just a percentage added to every bill. Like...just make the prices what they are gonna be...that it one of the good things about Europe, that taxes are included in the price and people are paid a better wage so tipping is not often done. Still, you get generous helpings of food for the price. If I recall (I forgot to take a picture/take note of what I ordered...and we all ended up sharing everything amongst the 7 of us) I got the Saag Paneer, which is my Indian restaurant go-to because YUM. And it was yummy! I also got an order of the Keema Naan to share, which was soggy, but flavorful. We all enjoyed our meal here. The food was delicious, and we were never once rushed. Service got a little slow after food was delivered and getting our checks to pay and leave was a minor ordeal. We tried to be clear about whether and how checks would/could be split, but it did not happen correctly. It wasn't too terribly over-the-top pricey that we couldn't manage and pay each other back over the rest of the time in London. If you want low-key, unhurried, and tasty Indian food, this is a good place to get it. I am not sure I would say you should go out of your way to come here, but if you were in the area, keep it on your radar.
