this is my third time eating here and it was really disappointing. I went again because I had had one decent meal there and a colleague wanted to go. I won't return. You get very little protein in the curry for the cost, the vegetable samosas were tiny. The food was supposed to be spicy and it was bland. The staff wasn't very receptive. This Indian restaurant was right underneath of the place my friends and I were staying in London. We got in after a long day of traveling and just wanted some food, so came downstairs to this restaurant. When we came in it was pretty empty and we were seated immediately. We started with papadum and samosas. I'm used to my samosa's being big fat samosa's. The one's we got here were teeny tiny so I wasn't impressed with those. I ordered lamb tikka masala and there were probably about five pieces of lamb in it. We were asked if we wanted papadum when we got there, and were asked if we wanted rice/bread with our entrees (which we said yes to all) When we got the bill, those were all extra costs. Maybe I'm not super experienced with Indian food (which is why I didn't take off too many stars) but every place I have gone the papadum and rice have been free (naan normally extra) so I felt like they should have made the cost more clear. The owner did give us some complimentary drinks at the end of our meal which was really nice of them. Overall, the food was pretty good but we all agreed that for the cost we could have found something more cost efficient and equally as tasty. read more

I came in around 8:15pm on Sunday night and the place was pretty quiet. Within ten minutes the restaurant became 75% full, which made it gave more ambiance, as they turned some instrumental music on. I ordered saag bhaji, paneer tikka masala, and pilau rice. All were very good. In general, I'd say this is a chill, peaceful Vauxhall neighborhood place to have Indian food. read more

This is the best Indian food we have ever experienced. There were so many items on the menu that we had never seen before. The sauces were outstanding, as was the presentation of each dish. We ordered entrees that were unique and delicious. The appetizer dips were suggested by the waiter and they did not disappoint. We came in around 10, and the restaurant was closing at 11 so we had a fair amount of time to order and eat. The waiter was the rudest man ever, rushing everyone to order, giving us dirty looks, and not being helpful at all. The food was horrendous, I ordered the sub kofta which was bland and had no flavor. The biryani had extremely small portions, and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant was appalling. After the gross food, the waiters TURNED OFF THE LIGHTS while we were sitting there still (the restaurant was not closed yet)!!!! I don't know anyone who has turned off the lights while people are still eating there.. the food was a 1/0, service 0/10. Please save yourself and do not eat at this restaurant. There are much better Indian restaurants in London and several close by. The staff moved a lot of tables to accommodate our large crowd and were pretty decent. I would probably give it a better rating but I ordered the wrong thing. When it arrived on a plate with a salad and a lot of sauce over top, I knew that a mistake had been made. I wanted a little bowl of wonderful, instead I got a plated thing which I add some rice and sopped up with chapatis. A lunch would be good here or a takeaway. But if you want an evening Indian meal, I would check out the others in the area. No idea about the price, the company picked it up. read more

Whilst the restaurant isn't a fancy looker, the food they serve up here is rather yummy. The portions are very generous, curries well seasoned and full of flavour, the meat always nice and tender. There's all the usual curries you'd expect of an Indian restaurant menu, as well as some Nepalese and Bangladeshi specialities if you fancied trying something different. I'd say dining in at the restaurant is a tiny bit over priced. I'd like to knock about £1-2 off the cost of each main dish, though you'll probably always have some left over to take home with you... Like I did tonight. It's nice food and as I work nearby I know I'll eat here again. If you're in the Vauxhall/Kennington area and fancy a curry, the Coriander is the place to head to! read more

I just finished a delicious dinner at The Coriander and was shocked to find no reviews on Yelp! So this visitor from Texas has just become the Duchess of the Coriander! The Coriander is a lovely little hole in the wall with clean, unfussy decor. Being an uncouth American suffering from jet lag, I arrived at the unfashionable hour of 6:00 pm. I was the only diner for a whole hour, although the restaurant apparently does quite a brisk take-away business. The menu was creative with a lot of unique takes on traditional Indian dishes, although one can still get good ol' Chicken Tikka Masala, too. I enjoyed a starter of vegetable samosas that were beautifully crisp and non-greasy. That was followed by the House Special Chicken, which is tender chicken breast cooked with deliciously spiced minced lamb. It comes with a special fried rice. Oh, and let's not forget the garlic naan. I don't think I'll ever forget it! Tender, crispy and fresh from the tandoor. Closing thought -- I wish we could get Kingfisher beer on tap in Texas. I recommend The Coriander so much that I'm willing to allow someone else to become the Duchess. It would be difficult to oversee my Duchy from Texas. read more

As this is our only local Indian restaurant and take out, my flatmate and I were a little dubious when it came to dropping in on the way home - but oh my what a pleasant surprise we were in for! Hidden amongst a row of fairly nondescript shops and businesses on Kennington Lane, the Coriander is a hidden gem in the Vauxhall/Kennington area. Great service, tasty food, reasonably priced and just a short walk form Vauxhall station it really is one of London's best unknown spots! It comes highly recommended, and being a local, I have now been back 3 times be it for take out or to sit in and every time it has come up trumps. Definitely worth checking out if you live nearby or are in the area. read more

Superb and friendly staff, compliments to the chefs! The food was very exceptional, if I was eating out with the missus this would be an ideal cosy date. The food was varied in the realm of curries, and there is actually a choice of Indian and Nepalese curries which I enjoyed, great for take away service. Though I don't normally drink lager, the Kingfisher beer from Bangalore on draught, has a lovely distinctive clean, crisp taste and does not feel gassy. Overall I would mark this as 4/5 my first time here, so I would recommend to a friend or family member. read more

Great little space in Vauxhall. You can tell it is a local spot with all of the take away we saw them doing. We were excited to do some authentic Indian food while in London and the dishes here were great. The naan was freshed-baked too and was a tasty addition to the meal. The knock down on stars is for the lack of service. Really unfriendly staff and we waited a long time even to get drinks and it wasn't busy. Seemed like they placed more emphasis on getting the take away orders done. Fix the service and this place would be great. Horrible service. The manager/owner (?) would not even allow me to order Garlic Naan and a side dish of Saag Paneer. He pitched a tantrum and refused to take my order unless I ordered a main dish of saag paneer (which is not even listed on the menu). And this was early lunch when the whole restaurant was empty. Actually this is my favourite Indian restaurant in Kennington. More spicy and flavoursome than others such as Kennington Tandoori or Gandhi's. Big portions and easily ordered on the Internet. Probably as good as it gets in this neighbourhood. It's not everywhere you can get a Tayyab's (best for cheap Indian) or the Cinnamon Club (when you're feeling rich). read more

Been eating at this restaurant for 3/4 years now! It's a great restaurant but sometimes suffers from variable service. My most recent visit was great. The food was tasty. I had the mixed grill and a vegetable side dish. Both were amazing and the peshwari naan is always v v good. The service just needs to raise a little. Overall well worth a visit. read more
