Chim Thai has a rude, customer-hating staff. We called in an order for pickup, and they wouldn't even take our order over the phone, insisting that we come in and pay FIRST in person. Fine. So we go in to place orders and pay for our food. I waited in the car, and then went in to pay for mine while my friend was waiting outside in the car. We go back 15 mins later, and my friend goes in to pickup our food. She comes out without mine, saying "They say you have to pay for yours. You didn't pay." I come back in with my receipt, when the lady behind the counter says "no, you ordered with HER." Basically they had taken my order twice on accident. I didn't want two orders, but she insisted that it was all my fault and I should pay. When I insisted that I would not pay, she said (gesturing to the cashier) "Then SHE will pay for your food. You don't mind?!?!" What the hell? Holy guilt trip!!! Of course I had to pay for it then, because the poor cashier looked like she was about to cry. Sad thing is, none of this confusion would have happened if they had just taken our order over the phone and let us pay at pickup. It's been a long time since I've been treated so badly. You'd think they would try to keep customer's happy so they could keep up with Thai Spice down the street...but I guess not. They get ONE STAR because the food actually tasted fine. read more

Let me start with the food is excellent. The atmosphere is less then welcoming. This hasn't always been the case. Now there are signs everywhere about everything. The owner needs to have her crayons and construction paper taken away. Stick to cooking great food and give excellent service. Don't worry about if someone brings Cheerios in for their young child or may need to use he bathroom before ordering. I've been eating at Chim Thai for years, and not once have I ever been disappointed with the food or service. The decor is nothing special, but the dining room is spotless and the owner and the wait staff are very friendly. The selection is excellent, from the standard Thai soups and curries to a number of Korean and Chinese favorites as well. The service is very quick and they're happy to accommodate you if you have any special requests. What's really stood out for me throughout my years of going there is the consistently fantastic quality of ingredients. Unlike other Thai restaurants, their dishes are balanced in flavor rather than just salty, and the vegetables always taste crisp and fresh. If you're on a tighter budget, the lunch boxes, offered for about $9, are one of the best deals around, served with soup, salad, crab rangoons, a spring roll, and an entrée. Excellent, delicious Thai food. I am stranded here in snowy Massachusetts and finding great Thai food did not seem like a possibility compared to the plethora of options in San Francisco. However, I managed to find one, now that the Indian restaurant closed down in the Milford plaza and was replaced by Chim Thai Cafe. I had spicy coconut mushroom soup and red curry chicken. Both were fantastic, authentic, and just spicy enough! The decor is simple and clean. Thai music rather than top 40 would have improved the atmosphere. Still, I will be coming back here for more Thai food as often as I can. read more

I love this place !!!! First time to MA and this was the first restaurant a few of us from EMC boot camp decide to grab lunch. The owner and her staff members are very attentive, friendly, and accommodating. As always I do like it when the owner and the waitstaff engage in small talks. Best part was that the few times we came in, they greet us with a warm smile, and remember who we are. Always getting free appetizer when we order or have a few Chang beers during our stressful study session. Food is lovely and fresh. I'm going to miss you guys !! read more

EXCELLENT, absolutely excellent. This is the 3rd Thai restaurant in Milford (all of which are in a 1/2 mile radius of each other LOL) and, having been to all three I rate this as the best one for classic Thai dishes. Thai Pepper (another of the 3), which has been there since the late 1980s...long before Thai food became all the rage...is excellent as well but focuses more on home-style cuisine with changing specials. Chim Thai is better for classics like pad Thai and drunken noodles. The food was unbelievably fresh and the waitress was extra friendly. The decor is the nicest of the 3 and has an elegant, classic-yet-contemporary feel. I had the spring rolls which were delicious and perfect in their composition...all the same size and colour. The drunken noodles (called 'crazy noodle' here) were the best I have had in a long time....all the chicken was white meat, the vegetables were cooked perfectly, and the spice level was nice. For dessert we had the sticky rice with Thai custard which was also very tasty (even though I wanted the sticky rice with mango which they were out of). $38 for 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, 1 dessert and 2 glasses of wine....not a bad deal at all. I just could not believe that we were the only customers in there (granted, it was 8.30 on a Tuesday night); I hope more people hear about this place so they can stay in business. **perfect amount of spices + a nice al dente preparation = this carnivore finishing all his veggies. read more

Even though I have only been in Milford for a week, I was already craving for Asian food. I admit, I am a spoiled brat when it comes to Asian food because I have lived in the Bay Area all my life. So when I yelped Thai food and Chimm Thai came up, I was hesitant to try it. But fear not, it was the best decision I ever made! We ordered the Spicy Basil Fried Rice with beef, and the Pad See Ew with Chicken. They were both amazingly flavorful but what was interestingly enough is that the Pad See Ew was a little bit on the sweet side. It was probably their oyster sauce or hoisin sauce. One of those is unmistakably in their dishes which gives themso much flavor! The spicy basil fried rice was not spicy at all so I would definitely notch up the spice. I definitely tasted the basil which adds a nice element to the dish. Portions were huge and the prices were reasonable! The ambience was really nice, definitely a place you can have a nice little date with your sweetie. Service was friendly and there were people coming in for dinner while others have ordered takeout which is always a good sign. I got the beef with green curry lunch box. It was alright, no complaints but I got spoiled on good Thai when I lived in California. I wish the crab rangoons had more filling, they were mostly empty. And the green curry was watery rather than rich. I would say it's great Thai for Milford but OK Thai in the grand scheme of things. read more

An excellent choice for lunch or dinner. I agree that Milford, has many Thai restaurants, but I believe each brings it own value to the table. Lunch here is good. The food is always made to order and the ingredients are fresh. Lunch crowd is mainly composed of people who work in the area. Dinner is good too. As expected, the prices are a little higher than at lunch time however the portions are also larger. Depending on your appetite, this could potentially leave you with leftovers. All in all a good choice. Are they better than Thai Pepper? I think each has their specialty dishes. The other good thing about Chim Thai is that at lunch time seating is always available. read more

The food here is excellent! This is my new favorite thai restaurant in the area. I moved to Milford recently, and being a thai food fanatic, needed to find the best pad thai around. I checked our Chim Thai after reading the reviews on Yelp, and noticing that they have a very extensive menu. I personally knew right away that I would be trying the chicken and shrimp pad thai, and the tom yum soup. My fiance, however, is not a huge fan of thai food, so when I noticed that they also offer a few Korean barbecue options, I had to try it out. I ordered him the chicken teriyaki, which is served with some miscellaneous vegetables. Mixed with white rice, it is absolutely delicious, and it seems to be very healthy. The pad thai is amazing, they do not skimp on the the shrimp, chicken, or veggies! Everything is delicious, and while I have only ordered take out (I have never actually sat down here), the staff is always very friendly when I call in and come to pick up my order. As someone who loves thai food, I definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

This restaurant is the most amazing Thai restaurant I've ever tried. We go out to eat probably 4 nights of the week and this is one of the couple places we frequent. The coconut rice and mango chicken curry are the best out there. The food comes out in about 4 minutes and is somehow still unbelievably fresh tasting. I highly recommend this restaurant. I ordered pick-up tonight while in from Chicago and I was very impressed with the quality, freshness and flavor of my dinner. I was even a little bit late in picking up my order, and I stopped at a local liquor store to grab some tasty Lagunitas beer on the way back to the hotel. Thai Spring Rolls -- pretty standard. Tasty, but nothing new or special. Beef Massaman Curry -- Delicious and different than what I usually encounter. Instead of a thick gravy-like curry "meat and potatoes", this was lighter, full of chopped green peppers, sliced onion and cubed sweet potatoes. The beef was in strips vs. cubed (I prefer cubed, stewed beef that flakes apart, to be honest) but it was tender and delicious. Mango and Sticky Rice -- wow -- I must have scored a great slice of mango, because it was both slightly peppery, tender and sweet at the same time. The sticky rice was dense and flavorful, with sesame seeds on top. I admit, I love it when the rice has been compacted a bit, and Chim Thai does it the way I like it. The flavors melded together subtly and I was sad to come to the last bite. One thing I should mention is that they did not scrimp on the portion sizes - the curry could have fed two adults and the mango+sticky rice was one of the largest portions of that particular dessert I've ever had. Prices were OK, but I felt like I got a great value. To top it off, the woman who took my order and who I picked the dinner up from was exceptionally friendly, polite and astute: she noticed my corporate AmEx, asked I was at a hotel, and went to get me a few extra napkins and plastic silverware. Yeah -- other places just toss the stuff in the bag, but it was nice to see the extra thought and follow-through. I'll eat at Chim Thai Cafe for sure the next time I am in town. read more

WHY!!! did I not discover this little serving of heaven until now!? It's great! The service is perfection and the food even better. This is going to be my new haunt. The chicken broccoli is as fresh as you can get. They even have sticky rice (for you die-hard Asian foodies). The Thai iced tea tastes like tea and not overly sweetness red water with too much condensed milk. My friend ordered the Bib Bop with chicken and it rocked! I'm getting it for myself next time. This is a fine neighborhood Thai place with slightly above average food and and extremely nice and accommodating staff. They have all the typical dishes and lots of items you don't see everywhere. Extra props for a wide range of vegetarian options and brown rice for the wife. Also, the service is extremely fast. Food comes out practically as you are ordering. read more

Out of the three Thai places in Milford, this one certainly has the best Decor. I would give 4 stars for ambiance. When I try a new Thai restaurant, I usually try the staples first. Pad Thai, or Drunken (or Country) Noodle. I can get a pretty good idea if the place is worth returning to. They didnt have exactly what I was looking for on the menu, so I asked. I wanted the fat flat noodles in a spicy sauce usually with loads of veggies. She pointed to the one that I was looking for, and off we went. Pad See Ew, with Chicken was what I was looking for. It was good, but not the best that I have ever had. Thus the three stars. The little hole in the wall place down the street has better food, but is not as fancy looking inside. I think the prices are a little lower down that way too. BUT, if you wanted to try the new guy in town, I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

We came here while taking a insurance class and it was excellent. I ordered the yellow curry lunch box which came with that entree, rice, crab Rangoon, an egg roll and salad. It sounds like a lot but wasn't too large and was actually the perfect size. The service was wonderful- very friendly and fast. I would recommend this to anyone is the area. read more

After moving out to the 'burbs from a "gateway" city with great ethnic restaurants, I became very depressed about the variety of food offerings in our neighborhood. I mean, really, who can eat at the local "House of Pizza" every week?! The Chim Thai Cafe has been a ray of sunshine since we discovered it, directed by the other good reviews on Yelp. We love the Country Style Pad Thai and the staff is always very friendly and sweet to us, no matter the time of night we show up for dinner. We find ourselves going out here again and again when we can fit in a "date night" amid the craziness of modern life. The prices for the specials are great too! read more

After we got done (and paid for ) with our lunch, a waitress came over and asked if we had been served our soups- which we had ordered but we had not. It was charged in the price- and we were (a joke??) asked- Would you like those now? As in now, after lunch? Well no- I asked them to adjust the bill which they didn't. This is hands-down the worst Thai I've ever had, and believe me - I tempered my expectations ahead of time. We just moved to Holliston after ten years in Boston. Perhaps our expectations were still too high -- but let me ask, how in the world do you mess up Pad Thai, Massaman Curry and Tom Yum Soup!? We went with standards/safe bets and ordered those 3 items. The Pad Thai lacked obvious crucial ingredients (no fish sauce? no ground peanuts?) The Massaman curry was watery and bland (not creamy and well-spiced). Worst of all, the Tom Yum soup was SWEET! I was feeling a little under the weather with a head cold at work. Naturally, I thought some spicy Thai Cuisine would be a remedy. I spoke my case to my co-workers and away we went for lunch. We got there right as the restaurant was opening, 11:30,and were the first diners. My initial though walking in was that it looked fairly typical, bar in the back, smaller tables, bamboo plants, and red walls. Seating wise, the dining area had a lot of tables, twenty plus. Our waitress promptly brought us water upon siting down and took our drink orders. I got an Iced Thai Tea, which is black tea, milk / cream, and sugar with a hint of some kind of spice. It was splendid and my co-worker, who also got it, agreed. Now on to the food, I scanned the menu to get a sense for the prices and they were fair, $5.00 for an appetizer and entrees averaged $7.00 - $9.00. For appetizers, my group got two orders of crab rangoons, which came with six a piece. They were very crunchy and tasted like "real crab meat," not imitation. The cream cheese was very light and the sauce that came with it added a little sweetness. Overall, a very balanced dish and satisfying way to start the meal. For entrees, I wanted to see how they made the number one Thai food staple: Pad Thai. I decided on the spicier country style version. My first impression was positive, it smelled and looked how I envision Pad Thai should be. The portion size was modest. Taste wise, it was satisfying, it was well balanced between the amount of meat, noodles, and vegetables. Overall, better than a lot of other places. At the end of the meal, my table got a nice treat, a complimentary fried banana dish. Once again, just like the other dishes, very balanced between the banana, honey, and fried wonton wrap around it. My husband and I are huge and fairly seasoned Thai food fans. We have had the Thai food at all three Thai restaurants in Milford and we find Mango to be the best. While the atmosphere in Chim Thai is more updated than Mango, Mango's food is far more flavorful, creative and authentic. The tofu plates at Chim Thai were very disappointing and overall I found the food to be slightly above average at best, but not what I would define as great. read more

It really seems very risky to open up a 3rd Thai restaurant in Milford.... and they are very close to each other. Have been there several times, all for lunch. I have tried different things on the menu, very consistent, and very good! The decor is beautiful too. Perhaps, it's the best decorated Thai restaurant among all 3 of them, and more contemporary looking. But it's not price; very comparable to the other 2 place. Thai Iced Tea was good too.... I will do my best but it's likely I won't have enough words to describe how wonderful Chim Thai is. I've been getting my Thai here for nearly a decade now and consistency has been what keeps me coming back. They are always speedy and for me that is important. My favorite meal is the Pad Thai (extra peanut sauce of course), but I could go on for hours about the other delectable courses. You will never have a bad Thai iced tea and there will ALWAYS be a small flower at the top of the straw wrapper. What compelled me to finally write a review was the sweet encounter I had there yesterday. After paying I was about to leave and the owner said, "wait! I have something for you". She ran to the back and came back with a cute scrunchie and said "for your hair!". The fact that the owner would go out of her way to do something so kind and out of the blue and moreover amidst these trying times, is what speaks volumes about Chim Thai. I was really excited to try this place, but it didn't meet my expectations at all. I had the Chicken Satay, which was really good, but let's face it, you can't really screw up that dish. The Chim Thai Mango Curry, which was OK. It's listed as one of their chef specials, but it didn't blow my hair back. Lastly, I had the Pad Thai Country. In my opinion, I think you can rate a Thai Food restaurant by their Pad Thai and Chim Thai's Pad Thai Country didn't impress me. It was oily and bland and it didn't have any kick to it that the country style usually gives. There wasn't a whole lot of chicken in it and in exchange they overloaded it with tofu. I'm a carnivore, so a little more chicken than tofu would have been appreciated. Overall the meal was nothing to write home about, but it wasn't disgusting either. I'd say it was decent. . read more

I went to this restaurant when they first opened many years ago. I did not like the service so I have never been back again. They are so many Thai restaurants in Milford. All places food are similar so service is important to me. I decided to give this place another chance on 12/26/16 because I was in the neighborhood. Fresh Roll is very very disappointed. It does not come with brown peanut sauce as same as other places. Moreover, the roll are overwhelm with lettuce and tiny bit of cooked shrimp. $6 for few lettuce rolls, I feel deceived. However, I did try Seafood noodle soup. I do not see other Thai restaurants in Metrowest serve this. It's surprisingly very very good! So I gave this place 3 stars. Never order fresh roll here and should order spicy noodle soup! read more
