Another company said they would only rebuild the entire fireplace and chimney. We never intend to use the fireplace and just needed to protect it from weather and creatures getting in. (We couldn't afford a complete rebuild in any case.) Lifetime Chimney saved us! They completed some repairing so they could install a cover/ cap, and they pressure washed the chimney. Miguel did an excellent job and was very kind. When I first called in, I spoke with Brian who was incredibly helpful! I was worried when I called in, but Brian explained what they needed to do. That type is now obsolete and Scott was the only contractor who showed up with the ability---and the willingness---to customize currently available parts to effect a competent repair. Scott gave me the option for galvanized or stainless flashing and did not push the more expensive material. Scott showed up smack on time to do the estimating but the customer must expect the return to do the repair to be open-ended. Most valley tradesmen make middle-class customers nervous, but Scott proved to be a professional and delivered the goods. I've worked on my own properties for 35 years and I know when a tradesman doesn't have it.

Derrick immediately found a safety issue as no gas shut-off valve had ever been installed on it. I made a future appointment to install the valve and clean the fireplace. Derrick returned and performed the tasks to my satisfaction. I inquired about a new metal surround for the insert because the current one was make-shift and unattractive. Henry came out the same day and suggested that he could remake the current one into something better and less costly. And he did. I love the fireplace now, it works great, it is safe, and good as new. Derrick and Henry were both friendly, efficient, were patient with me, and took good care of my floors while performing the work.

I spoke with the owner (after 4 days of responding to emails and phone call attempts) and I paid for 1/2 of this job up front so he would order the part needed for my stove. 4 weeks went by and I'd heard nothing. Gave them a call and the number was disconnected. 450 is what I paid up front.... So I disputed it with the credit card company to get my money back. Thank God I didn't pay with a debit card. It's super interesting because I was gonna have a mini split installed in my ADU by them only to never here back... be warned.

When we scheduled the appointment all he did was ask for our address and we coordinated a time and date for the appointment. When he arrived at hour home, he moved the screen away from our fireplace and used a flashlight to look up into the chimney. Immediately he identified a coil/vent and stated that we can't section off the chimney because likely that was the exhaust to our water heater and/or furnace. He went outside, looked up at the chimney and opined that was in fact what it was. Throughout this 15-20 minute exchange he spent the majority of the time talking about random facts about himself ie, when he purchased his home, for how much, the interest rate etc. We were polite and listened to him speak, waiting for a break so that we could walk him out. When we walked him out he turned and said, normally I charge $150.00 for an inspection, how does $80.00 sound? I was dumbstruck. At no point were we ever told about a service fee and no inspection was completed. We paid him the $80.00 and it hasn't sat right with us since. We feel taken advantage of and duped. We get quotes all the time and have never been charged, as its simply the cost of doing business; quoting jobs for potential work. The best part, he commuted less than a mile from his home to ours. We are very disheartened by this experience and hope that this doesn't happen to others.
