Roseville, CA. I called this business and scheduled an appointment to have my chimney cleaned, dryer vent cleaned and requested an estimate for exterior chimney repair. My appointment was scheduled between 11am and 1pm. Day of, 1pm comes and goes and no arrival or call. I call the business and the call is transferred to an answering service where I explain the situation and ask the status. They couldn't even find my info at first, but eventually were able to. The man said I should receive a call back within 15 mins. 15 mins goes by and I do receive a call from a woman who says they are running late and will be there by 2:30pm. That time passes so I call back and receive yet a different person at this answering service and ask what's going on. I am told that they were delayed at a previous appt. but are on their way. 2 men arrrived about 10 mins later in an unmarked white van. They both seemed nice enough but neither apologized or even mentioned the very late arrival. I quickly realized they were not here to clean anything, just give an estimate and charge me a $49 inspection fee ($54 credit card). The dryer vent cleaning would be $285 (1 story vent up to the roof). The fireplace cleaning would also be $285. The repair estimate to replace the 4 pieces of wood around the top and part of the flashing at the bottom was going to be $2500. This is when I got the used car salesman vibe as one of the men went on about it is the best price in town and he wanted me to get a fair price, etc. etc. At that point I decided to do the dryer vent cleaning myself and asked them to take that off the estimate. The man said he would throw that in with the repair and went on again about being the fairest price. I asked for the estimate to be emailed to me and confirmed my email address. That was a week ago and I still haven't received it. So all in all I paid $54 to have 3.5 hours of my time wasted. This company does not appear to be local but rather some sort of national company that contracts out to locals. I never spoke to the same person twice. The original man I spoke to on the phone was not either of the men that came in person. I would NOT use the company again. I should have seen the 1 star reviews here but unfortunately Google has better reviews...for now. read more

I would not recommend this business for two reasons. They offered me a flat fee quote for cleaning my dryer vents and increased that number by 33% for replacing a $12 hose. When the technician completed their job I was in a work call as I work from home. Although I put the customer on hold and wrote a check for the inflated price the technician wouldn't accept the check and was asking me to pay via Zelle which I don't have set up. I explained to the technician that I was in a work call but he insisted that I speak to his manager and wouldn't leave. It was very difficult to get him to respect that I needed to get back to my work call and that I didn't have Zelle. He didn't even leave me a receipt - I had to ask for it. I'm so frustrated. I just wanted a cleaning. It is so hard to find a good honest company. Do not get sucked into the "129.00 Special" for a chimney sweep. Instantly upon arrival the guy walks in, asked me if we owned or rented. Asked when we moved in. He literally "poked" his head in our fireplace, looked up and said, "I see the problem". Something about crystals forming in the flute that is closing up the flute. Immediately stated that instead of the $129 we need to do the $499 cleaning. This is the "deep cleaning". He said that the chimney has never been serviced. Little does he know that I know the previous owners personally, I sent them a text and they said "BULL CRAP". They have the receipts to prove it. Once I said that I do not want the deep clean, I would just like the chimney sweep/cleaning. He busted out a vacuum from his van. Vacuumed for MAYBE 3 minutes and said he was done. I have attached pictures of AFTER the service. I said that there is still soot. He said he did the "flute". He insisted that I still needed a deep cleaning. Even drew me a nice little picture. He said that there were crystals in there. I decided to poke my head in and look myself. There are no crystals in sight. Interesting. Wonder how he could see them from just poking his head in there for 2 seconds? Im just sick of it. My husband is in the Navy, we have 3 children and I am trying my best to prepare our home for the holidays. Makes me sick that people just care about money. Where is the integrity? read more

Terrible service! They installed rain capsules about 6 months ago and they rolled off of the chimney because they were not properly installed. My husband has been calling for 6 months straight to have it fixed and all they say is "we'll call you back" but never call back. Super unprofessional. Some lady answered once and she to call her back in 15 minutes but she ignored our calls when we tried to call back. They do not want to fix it or give us a refund for their poor installation. Had them come out to inspect my chimney. Bought the home a year ago and never used the fireplace so wanted to be sure it was good to go. The guy showed up, opened the flew(?) And flashed a flashlight up. Then immediately went to the roof to look at the chimney, came down in a few minutes. Said everything was good but very dirty. The cleaning would be $399. Total inspection took 10 maybe 15 min. Then gave me a paper to sign and I noticed that all points were checked satisfactory. But I don't have a wood stove and in the time he took to do the inspection there is no way he inspected all of the items properly. The company name on the paper was not the name of the chimney guys. This is a scam company making $71 for 10 min work. I don't feel like I got any sort of true inspection and I was looking forward to using my fireplace soon. Now I'm going to have to have another company come out and actually do something Update- the chimney guys called me and got into a yelling match about what they did and didn't do. Never, ever use this company. The tech, Leo is incompetent, and as a result, cost me over $6,000. Long story short when he came out to my home in Rocklin, he missed a large chunk of fiberglass stuck in top of flue during his inspection and when he came back out for a reinspection. After starting a fire and monitoring it he told me my fireplace didn't draft due to the fireplace and flue size. Mind you, during the reinspection, we went across the street and tested my neighbors who has a very similar floor plan with same exact track home fire place, using same wood from my pile. My neighbors drafted perfectly and never had any issues. My fault for not getting a second opinion. After taking his "expert opinion", I decided to go with a gas insert. When the installers came to install my gas insert they found a large chunk of fiberglass right away, as they were looking down the flue from the top, and were easily able to reach in and pull it out. read more

I had my chimney serviced and decided to move forward with a cleaning. I have never had my chimney cleaned so I wasn't sure what to expect. Chimney Guys USA started the process but about halfway through I noticed a cloud of soot in my living room. I stopped them immediately to ask if they were going to seal off the chimney so the soot wouldn't go everywhere but it was too late. They finished the process and left without any help. I spent HOURS wiping my home down. The soot was everywhere including on my couch, rug, pillows and drapes which can't be cleaned without professional help. I am really shocked. I called chimney Guys and was quoted $200 for a chimney cleaning. The chimney cleaner added a $100 charge for cleaning the "firebox." I offered multiple times to clean the ash out of the fireplace, but he said he would clean it, and indicated that he would clean the whole box. When I say the extra $100 charge I was surprised, but decided to pay it because I would love someone to give the box a good deep clean. Yes, it was $100 to sweep out the soot ONLY. Did no additional cleaning and left soot EVERYWHERE. On the walls, on the floors, just completely messy. I brought up that I'm unhappy with the charges with Hazel at Chimney Guys USA that same day. My chimney leaked. Leo arrived unprepared. I He looked inside my chimney for a minute and said he saw nothing. I asked him if he would like to go on the roof. I noticed he did not have a ladder and let him use mine. He was up there for about a minute and stated he saw nothing unusual. I mentioned that the storm collar looked loose, and he said he could not determine if that was the issue and said there was nothing he could do. However, he charged me 99.00 and said he was stumped. I paid 99.00 for this. Very irritating and wrong. However, a co-worker introduced me to a person specializing in homebuilding. He arrived and immediately said it was indeed my storm collar and repaired it. It took him about 15-20 minutes. And he had his ladder. Chimney Guys are a scam own and rip-off. I was charged $319.00 as Leo said my chimney was very dirty. (original quote over phone was $125. I think) I paid this extra fee as I knew my chimney hadn't been cleaned for three years. He did all his work from the fireplace up, which I told him seemed odd to me. He said that he could clean it all the way up from there and didn't need to go up on the roof. I should have questioned it more. About 2 1/2 months later, my fireplace was sending smoke into our living room to the point I wasn't able to have a fire. I then sent someone else up on the roof to look at my chimney. The smoke cap was very dirty and inside the chimney walls were COVERED with black stiff as far down as he could see with a flashlight. He also explained that it is impossible to clean the top portion from the fireplace itself, as the chimney doesn't go straight up.. He showed me some picture's of the soot. Obviously it had not been cleaned in 3 years. I then had the chimney cleaned from the top down, scraping off the sides. After that, the smoke stopped. I am older and think he took advantage of me. Never again. I also noticed he does not have a license number on his receipt or anywhere else. Only a phone number and email address.
