I am adding a star because the owner reached out to me with a personal apology and request to know more so he can improve the business. He did not ask me to update or change my review but was sincere in his apology and desire to do better. For that, they live up to the reputation they are known for, which is one of excellence. Here is my original review: I waited a bit before writing this review because I know a bad review can really hurt a company. After years of hearing Chimneys Plus recommended for everything from Chimney cleaning to gutters, I contacted them for a gutter quote. I wasn't going to be home when they arrived but was told they would be fine with my barking dogs so set up a date and morning time. When I got home 3 hours later, they had recently arrived so had been running late. Not a big deal but something to note if one was planning to take off work or had other plans. I'm not sure who the gentleman was who spoke with me but he was very knowledgeable and VERY persuasive. In other words, a good salesman. I was in a rush as I had many things to do but he didn't seem to take my cues to shorten his spiel. Still, I let myself be convinced I was going to ignore the quote of the company that did my roof which was significantly less than the verbal quote I was given on site. I requested to be sent alternatives in costing. For example, what would it cost if I just did the gutters without the gutter guards (and told the reasons this would be a TERRIBLE idea). I asked to include what if I did gutter guards in the back but not the front as one of the options. Or what if I started with just the back of the house (that verbal quote was the entire amount of the other companies full house quote -- but to the credit of Chimney plus, it did include guards whereas the other companies entire house quote of the same amount did not.) I expected to see an email quote either later that evening or the next day. Instead, the VERY NEXT DAY I was sent an email asking to please write a Google Review. Whaat?? I haven't even gotten the work done or received my quote!? I was told they are very busy and it would be a wait for the actual installation -- which again, I was willing to do. However, it has now been over a week and I never got a quote. At this point, I've gone with the other company and will use gutter guards from costco. You guys could have had my business -- and I'm sure would have done a good job. But no follow up after over a week isn't good practice. read more

We used Chimney Plus to redo our fireplace and could not be happier with the result. James Clark helped us evaluate all possible options and ideas including ventilation, design, materials. His expertise in the technical aspects was invaluable, but he also has an eye for knowing what will look good and helped us with layout and making it look fully integrated in the room, not like it was added as an afterthought. He was professional, friendly, and he and his crew were always on schedule and efficient. I would definitely recommend Chimney plus and would hire them again in the future. read more

We had them install a new vented gas fireplace. They did a terrific job, were very communicative and quick.

I never post negative reviews on principle, but this company was so highly rated and I'm so disappointed I feel compelled to let people know what to expect. TLDR: company difficult to schedule, took a shortcut, flaked on multiple scheduled appointments, and has yet to address an obvious safety issue. We were happy to hire Chimney's Plus this fall to make our old house's chimney operational again. The original appointments took longer than expected because they had to source some special parts for our old chimney, but they were very forthright so all was well. We paid over $9,000. About a month afterwards we noticed part of the wall mortar "flaking off"-- clearly not fire proof. We sent them videos of the problem and was told we would have someone come diagnose it immediately. After multiple calls from us for scheduling a technician, we scheduled one 6 week after we had diagnosed an issue. The technician flaked. Finally we rescheduled one who told us it seemed that the original technician took a shortcut and used floor material to parge the walls and that wasn't totally heat proof and was flaking off. Then after back and forth we scheduled someone to repair and they didn't show up (every time we schedule I have to rearrange my work schedule so I find this particularly difficult!). Management promised to make it right and set up another date. I cleared my schedule for the 4th time and again, they did not show up in the window. I am currently waiting for management to return my call, but they have not yet, and we are moving out of fire season with a potentially unsafe chimney. I am sad to report a different experience with this company than so many others have but I feel like I need to let people know. read more

Luis and Jesus of Gutter Solutions did a great job installing new gutter covers, splash guards, and a wider-mouth gutter head at the top of the gutter on the front of my house. Luis went above and beyond in all the details, spray-painting the splash guard metal to more closely match the metal roof color, cleaning out the gunk clogging the gutter before installing the splash guard, extending the gutters so they fit properly inside the gutter collar where they had previously been too short, and unscrewing an improperly fitted metal piece left there by the roofers so that the water could drain properly. He let me know what he was going to do at each step and was wonderful to work with. Luis and Jesus took the extra time to do the job properly and I very much appreciated that they were so conscientious about everything. We had used this company in the past when we bought our first home and needed to get the chimney cleaned. They did a great job with that. They were very professional and courteous too. Because we had such a good experience with them, we decided to use this company again to replace the chimney cap and purchase a new stove insert for the fireplace. While the finished product was done well, reflecting quality work, and the technicians were all professional and friendly, the office staff was disappointing and the level of communication was terrible. The job was supposed to take 1 day and ended up taking 2 because the estimator didn't communicate to the technicians the correct size panels needed; new panels were ordered and they came back a week later to finish the job. The office schedules the appointments so close together that it doesn't allow for travel time and they show up late. Bottom line is that they do good work but are terrible at communication!! read more

We needed several sections of gutter replaced and chose Chimneys Plus because they had done gutter work for us in the past. The price estimate seemed fair but we asked for a change - gutter guards on part not all of the replacement. No problem. We received an email several days before the installation as a reminder and on the day of install, the technicians called as asked if they could come a bit early! Rodrigo and Fernando were very professional and friendly. They explained the work and gave us an estimate when they'd be done. When finished, they gave me a "tour" of the work and explained how to maintain it. They did what looked like an excellent job and left the yard and work areas clean and neat. We were extremely pleased and don't hesitate to recommend them for any gutter work. We'll use them again as needed. read more

When they arrived to "clean" my gutters, I was told that Chimneys Plus does not clean gutters if there are gutter guards installed. They merely clean the debris off of the face of the gutters and sweep out any debris that has gathered in the valleys of your roof. It is essentially an expensive cosmetic cleaning. Had they explained that on their website or on the phone when I called it would have saved them a trip and me the hassle of waiting around for them to show up. read more

We needed some repairs of our chimney and asked for an estimate. We had to schedule a $235 inspection to get an estimate, which was fine. However, nearly 3 weeks after that inspection we have not received any estimate despite a follow-attempt with them requesting an estimate. That attempt did get us the inspection report but no estimate. Very disappointing. I'd recommend Mr Smokestack because the quality is equal but the communication and interest in the customer far exceeds this company. Just think, if you spend $5000 on repairs and needed something, I don't think I'd count on ChimeysPlus to follow up. Poor service before a sale is a bad omen for any transaction. read more

Top Quality Work on a Challenging House These guys are total pro's. I live in a very old house - 1852 - so it's never a normal job doing any kind of work here. But the folks at Chimneys Plus were up to the task. Charlie Quail visited and listened to everything I said, took detailed notes, and gave me a quote that was thorough and reasonable. I needed a new fireplace insert, which required lining and capping the chimney, plus I wanted the chimney flashing brought up to spec. No problem, Charlie's guys arrived promptly on the date scheduled, and set to work immediately. We ran into a couple of curveballs (of course!) because of the nonstandard construction, but the guys rolled with it and were completely responsive to my thoughts and suggestions. In the end the work was finished cleanly and expeditiously, and the finished product was exactly as expected, if not better. Donnie, Scooter, Fernando and Rodrigo were all very professional and pleasant, and Donnie in particular was very detail-oriented, experienced, and professional in guiding the job. Chimney's Plus put in a small woodstove for me several years ago- stove pipe and all- for supplemental heating. A Jotul. I loved it so much that I upgraded to a much larger stove very recently. I haven't used my electric heat all winter, and the house is super cozy (about 2000 heated sf), and it has saved me money. They did great work both times, and answered all of my questions, which were numerous. The rates are good, and the customer service is excellent. Lucky to have them in Chatham County. And a little cheesecake sometimes comes with a chimney cleaning (it's a P'boro thing...) :) read more
