Excellent food and service. The place is very clean and the wait staff is friendly and attentive. Getting food was extremely fast. Maybe ten minutes from the time it was ordered. I had the Sesame Chicken which was delicious. It comes with steamed or fried rice. I would recommend getting the House Fried Rice. Its a little more, but worth it. The iced tea is a Chinese green tea, but it's not overwhelming and tastes good iced. Plates come with a serving spoon for a "family style" dinner. They also offer take away and delivery within three miles. Like another reviewer, it was a little warm, but I noticed the waitress turned on the A/C as soon as patrons came in. I'm thinking they dont run it unless there are people there. Don't let that stop you from ordering take away or having delivery if your close enough though. It's well worth it. I've only tried this place once and expected a lot more based on reviews. We tried egg rolls, house lo mein, and Kung pao chicken. All super bland and the noodles and vegetables were undercooked. I wouldn't recommend eating here. Drive down the street for Panda Express, at least their food tastes like something without having to douse it in extra soy sauce and sriracha. read more

We came on a whim. Thank goodness!!! We found our new Chinese delight. We asked if they would make a certain dish and they did. It was the best we ever had:) Definitely coming back. Both the customer service and food, I love. They have an array of food options (all at affordable prices) and really good Thai tea. Everyone who works here, especially the two sisters, are very nice and hospitable. I came here late less than 30 minutes before closing in hopes of Thai tea. Wish I could have made it sooner but I drove from sd. Already cleaning with locked doors, was able to help. I have been back here three more times since the first visit and I've tried different things on the menu. The chicken in black bean sauce is awesome; so is the cashew chicken. I wish I had taken pictures but the food disappeared to quickly. They'll even do stuff not on the menu. We ordered salt and pepper scallops - so delicious! Went for lunch, gentleman (host i guess?) who first came to table to greet me obviously didnt know english to well or he was new. Sounded like he asked me a question or some secret code and if i answer correctly ,i get back to the illegal poker game haha. The Food: i got a hot and sour soup, which wasnt bad, typical nothing great. Tried China 1968 last night with my wife and daughter. We absolutely loved the food and service. We had the sesame chicken, broccoli beef and house special Lo mein. Must try! Definitely the best Chinese food in East County! I was lucky enough to get a China 1968 menu on my old apartment door in El Cajon in early 2015. We took a chance and ordered that weekend. THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE, BETTER THAN K*ps. Everything we've tried has been amamzing. The staff knew our address by our normal order within a month, and now they know my work address and my new home. My favorite are the pork dumplings & singapore noodles. My daughter loves the orange chicken, hubby loves the walnut shrip and spicy green beans with pork. First time there. Got an order to go with my friend. Ordered some sake while waiting. That was really good. Was served a sample of their delicious cream cheese won tons. Cashew chicken was outstanding, House special pan fried noodles were delicious, veggie spring rolls crispy and flavorful. We will definitely be back, probably weekly as they are so close by. The guy who answered was so helpful, he told me what there popular dishes were and oh boy I'm so glad I listened. I ordered Orange Chicken the best I've had no lie. Mostly tender chicken not to much batter and perfectly sauced. Broccoli beef, honey walnut shrimp, and there lo mien combination. Oh and I couldn't forget there awesome vegetable egg rolls. Yes a lot of food but we were a group of 4. All orders also came with rice. This was our first time trying it and we were beyond pleased. I've tried just about every 'chinese' food place in El Cajon. China Panda on Main/Pepper used to be my favorite, but China 1968 gives them a serious run for their money. I tried the Orange Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice, Sweet n Sour Pork, Chicken Chow Mein and the Hot n Sour soup. Everything I tasted there has been delicious. The decor on the inside resembles every other chinese restaurant you've probably been to. The service is fast and friendly. Definitely my new go-to chinese spot. read more

I would expect a garnish like an orange slice somewhere to show that it is actually orange chicken because at first I was confused which one was which when I opened the containers. I think this may be my first Yelp review ever...I have a difficult time trying to find good hot and sour soup and Ma po tofu, but China 1968 is really good for both and offer no-meat options as well, yay! I'm aware these are not dishes that most people are after but if you are, really not bad at all. I had a couple bites of my boyfriend's orange chicken and it was good too!
