I wasn't expecting much, let's be real. When I think of a Chinese buffet, I'm usually expecting average food with mediocre service. To my surprise, I actually had a pretty good meal here. Right when we walked in, we were greeted by such a happy and friendly host. Honestly, that already surprised me because service at these types of buffets can sometimes be pretty stand-offish. Not here. She even asked if the table she picked was suitable for us before seating us. Our server was SO sweet. She interacted with almost every table in such a friendly way. Usually at a buffet, someone clears your plates and that's about it. She was actually attentive throughout our meal. Our drinks were never empty either. The selection is smaller compared to other buffets I've been to, but they still have all your typical options like wings, orange chicken, chow mein plus plenty of other dishes. There's also a sushi and salad bar. For dessert, they have an ice cream machine with a smaller selection of sweets and fruit. Food wise, the New York steak was a nice surprise. My first portion was medium rare, juicy with a nice flavor. Unfortunately, the pieces continued cooking under the heat lamps. When I went back for more, they were super tough and dry. The honey walnut shrimp was delicious. Pretty standard, but still good. The Beef and Broccoli was easily one of my favorites. It had so much flavor with the garlic really shining through. There were some misses like the short ribs and teriyaki chicken, but that's kind of the fun of a buffet. You try everything then figure out what deserves a second plate. Cleanliness was alright. Our table was a little sticky, so that could've been better. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised. The service really made a difference too. I was actually surprised by this buffet and thought it was pretty good. And I don't typically like buffets. They have a good selection of Asian and American food, including salad, fruits, pizza, and even ice cream. It's good priced as well. You can help yourself to as much as you want to eat. They keep the trays filled. The waitress was very nice and we never had an empty cup to drink. The place is pretty spacious with plenty of seating. There's also plenty of parking outside as well. Very solidly decent. I come often with my dad. I love the teriyaki chicken. Idk what kind of crack they put in it but it's great.

I sampled a bit of almost everything. No complaints about the taste of the food. my biggest challenge is that if I pay $14 for a meal I want it to be hot. That was not the case today. The help seemed to be friendly, even more so to the regulars. I did feel that a soda or tea should have been provided in the price. If the steam tables were keeping the food hot this would be a solid 4 star review. Can't complain about the variety. there was a little of everything. read more

I really needed a Chinese fix today, so I wanted something a little different but I wanted a buffet, and I found new century buffet. I'm glad I tried it. It has more food choices than the one we go to in La Mesa, and the soups are a lot more tasty. Selection is awesome, the sushi choices are far better than our other buffet, which we probably won't be visiting from now on, this will be our go to Chinese buffet place. Price is a reasonable, $15 for lunch, and $20 for dinner.The reason I left three stars and not four, the rice they put out in a pan is dried out because it's just sitting there steaming and all the moisture is cooking away. I also had iced tea with my meal, it was so sweet that it could make you sick or gag. The service was good, and it was nice and quiet in there, and it should be getting four stars. But to put rice in an open pan, I've never seen that before especially not white rice. Anyway, you'll find something to eat, and I had a large variety of things. I took pictures. read more

I've been coming to this same location for over 12 years now. It is always the same. The food is always good. The service is always good. Parking is easy and I like to bring my kids here so they can try the different dishes and vegetables and desserts. It's always been a great deal moneywise even now having to raise their prices. 8/02024 - I haven't been here in a while and usually go to 1968 in El Cajon or anywhere on Convoy daily for Asian food. I went at opening at 11am because I hate crowds. Already people in there eating. When I left about 20% full of capacity. Large selection of items. I tried a little bit of everything. Everything was average tasting. The best items IMO were the donuts, fried squid, wings and I killed the butter shrimp. Probably ate 1/2 a pound of shrimp. I always leave $1 per plate for a tip. I had 2 plates. Employees were nice. Floors are old and ceilings have water stains. I was disappointed in the kung pau chicken, no flavor and is always go for this dish. A total of 3 stars. See photos. Total cost was $15 for 1 adult. Three weeks ago I went there for my lunch. I started with a cup of soup and as I finished it I became severely ill with symptoms of a heart attack. I went to the front by the cashier and by then I was so short of breath that I could barely speak and was sweating profusely. I sat down and managed to call 911. As I waited for the fire department to arrive the lady at the register came over and repeatedly said "You pay now. You pay now." After she demanded payment at least 5 times I managed to get my wallet out and handed her a $20 bill. They absolutely could have cared less that I might be dying and all they wanted was to be sure that I paid before I left the restaurant. I honestly think that if I keeled over right then and there they would've taken my wallet out and gotten their money. It was absolutely disgusting. I am now home and am recovering. I like their food but that experience of them being totally uncaring really upsets me. read more

Mediocre at best. Mostly Asian food. No dessert options. All I saw was ice cream machine and some items in the salad area. The salad bar was okay with some good choices. Again 3 stars at best. It's been since before covid but I'm glad to see at least a buffet has come back to life. So many have closed down and said they weren't opening again. The food is almost the same with no new dishes. Some of it looked recycled (left over from the day before) even with an A rating. Service was excellent. Everything was well marked except for the sushi. My wife loves sushi but couldn't identify the items. Same selection of fruit from 2017, but of course, fresh. In fact, the cantaloupe wasn't ripe yet. And after seeing videos on youtube about the chocolate fountains, I didn't really want to take the chance. But, it did look good! You would think after Sooo many years the men's bathroom would have improved, but it didn't. Still smells pretty bad and TP all over the floor. Wife wasn't impressed this time and it was her birthday. And last, man has inflation hit this restaurant. It was twice the price of what we paid in 2017. I understand price increases, but really? Service needs to be improve, I had my family come in and eat with me , we had the check on our table within 30 mins and we are a party of 5. I never asked for the check, have workers hovering over me as I'm getting food. I paid after 20 mins of the check being on table and the server hovering. This place is a great find. They have a variety of tasty food. The service is excellent and the consistency has been experienced over a few dozen outings there. It's a casual place, it's reasonably priced and it's just a has a positive, easy-going atmosphere. To all that have made really scathing reviews about this place you have me scratching my head.
