Just went in because my son said to try it. He sent me if you check in you get 10% off order. I thought great opportunity to try it.. I told the lady at the counter I was going to check in to get 10% off she said very rudely not on the weekends. We've eaten twice here so far. The first time, the service was a little slow, but the food was great! Good flavors and large portions. The second time, the service was great and we learned to get an appetizer and split an entree. The Thai tea is excellent and the Beef Sticks are heavenly. Been looking all over East County for great Chinese food. Found it! We have been only getting take-out up until today (new kid) but had our first sit down as a family here tonight. Their take out is amazing... Best we've had, but it pales next to the in-restaurant experience. Food is so fresh, so savory. Excellent, authentic flavors that remind me of my favorite Hunan restaurant in San Francisco, which is the best I've ever had. Best Chinese food in El Cajon. Better that China Panda. I have eaten most of the items on the menu. All their salt and pepper items are very good. The orange, lemon and sesame chicken actually have large pieces of breast meat with a thin breading so you get a lot of meat unlike some other Chinese places that use dark meat with a lot of breading. Kung pao chicken has a good sauce but wish they would put smaller pieces of chicken in it and more peanuts. This place is better that the Chinese restaurants in National City. Don't think to much about the food off of Convoy in Clairemont Mesa is it is way too authentic and spiced with peppercorns and I wouldn't take my kids there. If you want good fresh Chinese food that is kid friendly this is a good place to go. If you hardcore go to Clairemont Mesa. I don't know why the negative reviews in the past but it is five start now. read more

My wife at there for the first time and enjoyed it very much. The cream cheese wontons we had as appetizers were delicately fried, and the cream cheese was creamy. My wife ordered the Cashew Chicken Lovers Delight, I ordered the Seafood Tofu Hot Pot, and both came with rice. The Cashew Chicken Lovers Delight's sauce was not over powering, the vegetables were crisp, good amount of shrimp, and the portion was enough to feed two to three comfortably. I am not a big fan of tofu, but give the Seafood Tofu Hot Pot a shot. It was delivered in a hot pot filled with fish balls, octopus, imitation crab, tofu, and a variety of vegetables, in a sauce. If you're not a tofu fan, try this dish. The tofu is soft tofu in an egg batter that was very creamy when bitten into. The staff are very friendly and courteous. read more

My first time at this place this evening. I ordered the Imperial Soup and it was great. Appetizer was the Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings and it was fried to the way I like it. I'm not sure why there are so many good reviews for this restaurant. I ordered the sweet and sour pork. It tasted like it had been sitting in the freezer for a long time, uncovered. The breading was so thick that rice was not necessary. And it was so greasy I felt sick after eating only a third of the dish. A friend of mine ordered the General Tso Chicken and it had the same quality. Even the fortune cookies tasted stale. I hate to say it, but I feel like this is one of the those Chinese restaurants where they think that people who live in El Cajon won't care what they eat as long as it's cheap, and so they take short cuts in their food preparation. It's not the best chinese restaurant i've eaten at, even here in san diego but it's hands down the best in east county, la mesa and rancho san diego. It's easily competitive with any chinese restaurant along the convoy corridor. I took my wife begrudgingly here after they replaced King's where we used to go get sushi and plate lunch. The decor was ok, seats a little awkward, prices a little above what you expect to pay in el cajon. Then the food came. This was real chinese food! Not panda express or some of what passes for chinese food made for caucasians. This is what Chinese people would consider Honk Kong cantonese cooking. Tasy, well prepared and with fresh ingredients. Because of its freshness, be prepared to wait a little longer than you are used to, The wait is worth it. The owners actually knew who we were because i sent my son there to pick up a take out order previously. He was with us so they must have remembered him. The take out order was ok+ and not bad, but nothing special. It was good enough to warrant a live tasting and see what else they offer. Eating the food there and what we ordered this time, was a surprise. It exceeded all expectations! It was very very good! The shrimp egg pancake (a shrimp omelet) was good, but nothing great. The seafood tofu hot pot was really really good. The squid in it was not tough and rubbery, the vegetables were really good and the tofu, among the best i've ever had in a restaurant. The white wine sauce was tasty and flavorful, not a goop of cornstarch like many restaurants serve. The beef chow fun was tasty and authentic, the chinese broccoli with oyster sauce was very very good as well. The cook has a nice near delicate touch, everything tastes fresh and made to order. We all agreed we'd come back again. They continue to offer 20% off to lure people in and to establish a customer base. I am writing this review because i want this business to do well. I want this business to succeed so i have a good chinese restaurant in el cajon i can come back to again and again. The service was friendly and conscientious (unusual in asian restaurants) but they clearly understand making the customer happy.will lead to repeat business (just like Finest Thai down the road). Disappointed. Should've just gone to a $13 Chinese buffet. I read all the GREAT reviews & I was excited to try it out...boy was I wrong... Ordered black milk tea with boba, 2 egg rolls & the three flavor Kung Pao with fried rice on the side. Boba tea was basically water with flavorless HOT boba. Egg rolls tasted cheap and were scalding hot. The hot part I could pass but not the taste. Kung Pao was OK nothing more. & fried rice is white rice with soy sauce and egg WOW. $19.30 gone down the drain. Oh yeah and to top it off, the fortune cookie was STALE hahahahahahaha 1 star is too generous for this place. The other place that was here too SUCKED I got food poisoning from the sushi. Just had a root canal done and was craving for hot and sour soup...so we swung me here after my appt and ordered a large so it'll last me a two days since eating solids might be hard for a bit.....LET ME TELL YOU.....it was AMAZING. I ordered Mongolian beef and when I got home and opened it I had very little grey meat covered in about 2 pounds of yellow onions.
