Overall, I had a very pleasant experience dining at this restaurant. Although it looked like an average restaurant from the outside - don't let that fool you. The restaurant had a very comfortable atmosphere and was well decorated. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating, and responded to requests quickly. We came here on Sunday, which was Christmas day of 2016. Prior to this visit, I have heard great things(about the food and customer service) about this place so we had to try it. Being from Chicago, it took us a little over an hour to get to China Bistro. We came here around 4:45 PM. Parking in parking lot was very easy to find, as they were abundant. When we walked in the restaurant, we were immediately greeted. We then were seated immediately by our very attractive waitress, Vivian. One interesting thing I noticed was that they served Mai Tais, which was something I have never seen in a American-Chinese restaurant. The dining room had a very nice atmosphere. Even though it got busy fast, it was still pretty quiet to the point where we can enjoy our conversations. I could imagine myself reading a book and drinking tea here without being distracted. During our visit, Vivian was just wonderful; one of the best customer service I have ever experienced. She was very attentive, always smiled, cracked endless jokes, and gave suggestions on what to order. One of her suggestions, which I ordered, was the Early Bird Special - Kung Pao Chicken that came with white rice, Egg Drop Soup, and an Egg Roll. It was $9.95 for all this! Who doesn't love deals? I know I do! I also ordered the Green Tea smoothie, a very underrated smoothie flavor. Give it a try! Trust me, it will change your life. My cousin got the same deal, except for the smoothie and the Cashew Chicken as the entree. After we finished our food, we both agreed that everything was delicious.....but the egg roll though. The egg roll was TO DIE FOR!!!!! We both thought that the egg roll was the best egg roll we have ever had from a Chinese restaurant. "The egg roll was the bomb" as my cousin described it. They were so good that we ordered 2 more(each) to bring home for later. Overall, my experience here was excellent. Delicious food for great prices, amazing customer service, and great atmosphere. After reading many positive reviews, we placed an order for the appetizer combo, fried rice, chicken lo mein and chicken Hong Sue. Eggs rolls were literally dripping oil, crab Rangoon tasted old, and fried batter on shrimp was soggy. Fried rice was okay. Chicken Hong Sue had lots of chicken, tons of gravy with very few vegetable. Came here for lunch after my mom recommended it. I was a little tired, a little hungover, and very hungry. There's a huge take out counter in front, and a nice little restaurant in back. We got there really early (11:30 on a Saturday) and were the first ones there. The service was really slow and it was only us there-I'd hate to think what it would be like if it was busy. My wife and I order China Bistro once a month. It's our goto Chinese food place near home. The other reviews surprise me because I really like CB. The portions are large. The selection is great and they deliver fast. We just had the hot and sour soup (Fantastic!!!) Egg rolls (Yum.) My wife had the combination Mei Choe Fun and I had The Four Seasons which is Beef, Shrimp, Chicken and Scallops in a white garlic sauce. Meals were awesome! I love China Bistro! read more

I really did not like this place. The crab rangoon had far too many onions and the cheese tasted a bit sour. The hot and sour soup I had was very watery, it had so much going on in it as well. I also tried some noodles here and they were just not cooked well. I have had plenty of Chinese places, but nothing like this. Definitely not a compliment. I get that people think it may be "cheaper" but it's low-quality in my opinion. China Bistro is my new favorite Chinese restaurant in the area! I ate there for the first time tonight and everything was great. We ordered a ton of food - Crab Rangoon, Salt and Pepper shrimp (garlic and lightly breaded - so yummy!!), Egg Foo Young, Chinese Greens, Chinese Curry, and the Chow Fun. I loved everything and it all tasted so good. I've had trouble finding a Chinese restaurant I love in the area and typically trek out to Yu's when I want good Chinese food. Not anymore though. Plus their prices are very reasonable. The owner took care of us and was extremely friendly and pleasant. She was very sweet and made every effort to make sure we were happy with everything. They also have some beautiful fish in the fish tanks in the restaurant (to look at :) ). I will absolutely be back again. I do add more vinegar and red pepper flakes when I get it home, but my husband and daughter like it just the way it is. The hubby really likes their egg foo young, but one time we got pork and it was FULL of fat pieces. gross. Now we order chicken. Moo shu pork okay - not very full of pork, mostly cabbage. Mongolian beef just okay. Kung Pao chicken is okay, but I doctor it. Yes, the egg rolls are pretty greasy. The kids love their chicken fried rice, and in general, the beef and broccoli or pepper beef is good. As I read my own post, I'm wondering why we order? No, not the best chinese ever, but it's close, and we've never had a service problem (only take-out though). They do prefer cash. read more

Being someone who usually goes for Thai or Japanese food, I never sought out a Chinese restaurant. I was kind of afraid I wouldn't like the food, but China Bistro set the bar high. We were greeted by Amy, the owner, and immediately felt welcomed. The menu was extensive, lots of yummy options, and fair prices. My boyfriend and I started with the potstickers (DELICIOUS) and followed with the Sweet & Sour King and the Beef with Tomatoes and Green Peppers -- both were excellent. This was the first time we ordered from here. There are not a lot of options living on the west side of Randall. Menu looked good, reviews were good, thought I found a spot that could replace gourmet house on the east side. I order for delivery at 430 figuring it would be quick as I have two young kids that will be hungry within an hour. Wrong. The place seemed very busy with takeouts. My friends highly recommended we go there. The menu was very good. The 7.00 off coupon was a great way to attract business. We had pork fried rice and beef chop suey . Also wonton soup. The soup was very good. The fried rice was average. The beef chop suey was just ok but had its faults. The gravy was watery and the chop suey did not taste nearly as good as any I've had elsewhere. A little confusion when we left re: the 7.00 coupon. Hostess never gave it to waiter but it got cleared up. Waiter gave us 2 styrofoam boxes to put food in and a plastic bag. He never offered to help. On the way home it tipped over on the floor. The smell in the car was overwhelming. Had to air out the car all the way home and even left the doors open at home. Whatever was in that gravy,etc., was sure a stinker. He should have provided us with the usual square cartons so they are better sealed up. Later that night I got the runs. Was it the food or something else? Hopefully not their food. I want to go back and try their egg foo young as the friends say it is the greatest. I hope so. Best Chinese food we have ever had and we have tried many Chinese restaurants in McHenry County and many in Cook County. My husband and sons always have to have the sweet and sour chicken and the orange chicken. My favorite is the wonton soup and eggrolls. The crab rangoons melt in your mouth! I love that they do not put peas in their fried rice, BUT I know many people prefer the peas so that may be a disappointment for those who like them.
