This by far the best chinese food around. I've ordered from there 3 time in the last 2 weeks and there food is fresh and delicious. New to the area and ordered take out. Their pot stickers were one of the worst I have ever had. The doughy wrap around the filling was extremely thick, chewy and disgusting. Wound up not eating the outside and just ate the filling. The salt and pepper squid must not have handled the trip home well, because while it fried by the time it got home it was mushing and limp. My husband had the orange chicken which again was nothing like we have seen before. He ate it but will probably throw out the leftovers. Very disappointing. We will have to find another Chinese restaurant. Bummer. read more

I find it odd when businesses advertise coupons only to use them to deceive customers and not honor them. Just don't offer the stupid coupons in the first place. Tonight I called to place and order and wanted to redeem the free crab Rangoon coupon listed on their website. Instead of giving me the free crab Rangoon they added a free Rangoon to my order on top of the one I had ordered (the one I thought was free). So I basically got two for the price of one order. When I explained this to the person at the time of pickup, they really weren't willing to fix the mistake and made it out like the person who took the order really didn't have any idea that I wanted one free Rangoon-not buy one get one free (basically it was my fault and why should they go to the trouble to take $6 off of my bill like they advertised). I got the sense that they do this to people all the time and got frustrated and left. So buyer beware. I hate tactics like that and I will never order from here again. The Rangoon wasn't good anyways...too sweet, and now I have a ton of them. The rest of the food was just so-so. There's a million other places you can go. read more

What a disappointment!! Went in for lunch today and my lunch special came out to$6.50 and the female owner sees me going to pay with my debit card..and she states, not too kindly, u have cash?? I said no I did'n't kno you had to spend a certain amount(especially just ordering for 1 person)and she said than I am going to charge you an extra $.50...I said No Thank You and walked out!! Poor customer service and mind you I was the ONLY customer in there and she was playing on her computer at 12:30 in the afternoon Lunchtime!! I have never been to fond of China Bistro for they have very greasy food and I have had hair in the white rice 2 times and over all it has never really been a favorite but I alway believe in trying to support the locals, obviously this place doesn't care that they have permanently lost a customer over $.50! This incident tells me this place isn't worth it especially to turn me away when at lunchtime it was completely dead!!! i went back to work and shared with my coworkers what had happened and let me tell you ... they had stories to share and said they never liked this place and they go to King Wok! Well King Wok you have gained a new customer because I will never go back to China Bistro after this slap in the face!!! I just picked up dinner for my wife and myself and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food at China Bistro. We ordered the hot and sour soup, combination beef and shrimp fried rice and the szechwan beef. Everything was delicious and flavorful. Also, since we exceeded a certain dollar amount we received 2 complimentary egg rolls which were fried perfectly. From now on I will be going to China Bistro for my Chinese food fix. read more

Decided to try this restaurant after leaving a nearby movie theater. 1st and last time ever entering this establishment. 1st: They close at 9 pm; we entered at 8:24 pm. I told the host that I would like to sit down and eat and that there were 4 people in my party. She says, "We close at 9 pm. Well, i guess if you can eat fast then it will be OK." I have never been to a sit-down restaurant that informs their guests of closing time and suggest that they eat fast. 2nd: Food came out very quickly, but was not to our liking. We order sweet and sour chicken, 2 sesame chickens and an orange chicken. My order of sweet and sour chicken was the only plate that resembled what was ordered. The other chicken dishes came in what I could only describe as chicken strings instead of chunks, and the orange chicken was the same color as the sesame chicken, just without sesame seeds. We were also given one bowl of rice to serve all 4 of us. After my party tasted their food and did not like it (and I do mean taste as in one bite), we decided we did not want to stay. I immediately sought out the person who sat us and explained the situation. She looked at me dumbfounded. I told her that the food was not to our liking and that we did not eat it. She starts to say that "this is how we have made the dish for 20 years. No one has ever complained about our food." I told her sorry, we just don't want to stay. 3rd: She then tried to insist that we pay for part of the food because "that was a lot of food." I told her no. We were not paying for food that we didn't eat. She then said, "Just go! Whatever!" If you have never been here, you may not want to go. Also, two more guest came in after us to dine in, a family of 4 and a couple. I wonder did she told them to eat fast? Do not eat at this restaurant if you desire quality service, quality food, or respect. read more

I had dinner at China Bistro for the first time. I have to say I was nit impressed with the food. The wonton soup was just ok, the egg roll was ok. I had chicken chop suey and the sauce was water I used a spoon to remove all the water and filled a bowl about half way up. I just had a little of the dinner and asked for the check. The woman saw me removing the water from my plate and help by tipping the plate so the rest of the water would drain into the bowl. Then she said I should have told her to next tell her not to use so much sauce. I told her it was not sauce it was water and she walked away. She said she would bring us some more water then about ten minutes we received water. The restaurant had another couple there and it's a small restaurant. When I went to pay fir everything the man who took the debit card asked if I liked the food and I said no and will never come back. His next remark was if I live around the restaurant area Ann I said yes, 25 years. They had a very young girl who tried to help out when our food came to us and she grasped another plate of food that was not ours. It may have been the other customers. Although she did not touch the food, but who knows where her hands were just touching the plate. When we were leaving she was standing in front of the door and dropped some of her food on the floor and picked some of it up as we were walking out. Be careful if you choose eat here. I do not recommend this restaurant there are better Chinese restaurants in the area and about a twenty minute ride from Algonquion. read more

Food is average for a Chinese restaurant. Check your order before you leave. We ordered take out and found we were missing rice. When we called they said they would give us a double order next time. Good food, best fried rice I've found in the area. They also have very tasty egg rolls (I do vegetarian and it actually tastes like a good egg roll which is hard to find). They have a good lunch menu w/decent value but are pricier for dinner. My only real negative is that the woman who owns it (I assume) and always seems to be the one at the counter/waiting on tables isn't very friendly and is kinda cheap ... begrudgingly will refill your drink or give you an extra packet of sweet & sour for carryout. I do not like the fact that you have to spend over $10 for them to allow you to pay with a credit or debit card -- I didn't even know that was legal/allowed anymore. All in all, though ... this is the best Chinese food I have found in the area and I think it's a decent value. read more

I've been ordering from here for 5 years now and the food is always top notch. I always get the salt and pepper shrimp, which is incredible, as well as their freshly wrapped crab rangoons. My family and I usually order take out from the China Bistro in Lake In The Hills. After today I will not be a customer of there's anymore. I had picked up my order and when I got home realized that my order was not complete. I call to let them know that my order is not complete and I was put on hold. The female owner quickly responds that the person who had taken my phone order must have misheard me and did not charge me for the item. She would be more then happy to send someone out if I paid for that item. Normally, I would agree and wait patiently for the delivery man to drop off the missing item. While my family waits and the rest of the food goes cold. But this was the second time this has happened in a row and again absolutely NO apology was given. WHAT HAPPENED TO CUSTOMER SERVICE?? i started to explain that this was the second time this has happened and why should I be inconvenienced once again. The person who took my order repeated what I wanted after I had said the item and again when I was finished before she gave me the total. Obviously if I heard it correct then I would assume the amount she gave me was correct. I told the female owner to just never mind and hung up. I was frustrated at the fact that the female owner acted like it didn't matter if I was a happy customer or not because she has plenty and losing 1 won't make a difference. Sorry to say but 1 unhappy customer turns into 2 and so on and so forth. I'll be more then happy to drive the extra distance and go back to Lily Garden or Chen!! read more
