Good price for okay Chinese - honestly just good to have something different in the area

If I could give it zero stars I would. Food was not kept at hot enough temperatures on the buffet steam tables. Some items were only room temperature. So I'm not sure why all the bad reviews. I've been coming here for many years but haven't in the past 5. Food was great with a huge variety. I read complaints about desserts but in that culture they don't really do them. They did have the little Debbie desserts, but also almond cookies, fruits, jello, pudding and 5 flavors of ice cream! Great selection imo. Service was fast, polite and on it with drink refills and plate removal. The restaurant was clean and casual dress so don't feel like you need to dress up too much. Most wore shorts and t-shirts. Remember it's a Chinese buffet ran by Chinese people so some have broken English but are understandable and polite. Price is roughly $18 per person and worth the all you can eat variety. Lots to choose from even chicken tenders, fried chicken and buttered potatoes for the kiddos. This place is terrible! Stopped for lunch on sat, you pay when you walk in, they hand you silverware and you pick a table. Food was awful! No wonder they make you pay first!!! Desert section was a joke! Cut up ho ho's. And cut up peanut butter crunch bars! Didnt bother with that crap! I tried to eat some dried up chicken, or was it jerky? Still have diarrhea. I see most of the bad reviews are really old. I've been recently and the food is decent or better. At the price charged it is good value. There is better out there, but it's usually a much longer drive to get to it. And it is at least 10 times better than Hang's in Harrison (which is terrible). read more

The staff were great! They were warm and welcoming, made sure we had what we needed all the time - very attentive. The food was really good and we thoroughly enjoyed. One of the staff heard me admiring their origami pieces and made me a dragon. With attention like this, I will definitely return. read more

Small buffet with basic/standard options. The food is not always hot. When they are busy they do a good job of replenishing. Service on clearing plates is fast. Consistent. This is your typical Chinese buffet. You have all your standard foods: general tso chicken, sweet and sour chicken, wonton and egg drop soups, egg rolls, etc. none of them are particularly special, especially the soups which are more watery than flavorful. It also comes with a dessert table with tapioca pudding - seems out of place for a Chinese restaurant, but whatevs. If you need a Chinese food fix, this place may be your only option. Good luck to you and make sure you have some digestion pills at your disposal. The plates and silverware are the best: styrofoam and plastic. Awesome. read more

This restaurant has gone downhill. Been going here regularly over the past 10+ years. My last 3 times to the restaurant have steadily gotten worse. You pay and if choosing to leave a tip before you even sit down. The food was cold and seemed old. The chicken teriyaki on a stick was dry and had the consistency of sawdust. The Generals chicken had little chicken in it and was more breading than any meat. Worse meal I've ever had there. Most of the desert was gone and we were there at 4:30pm. When you pay more for dinner time than lunch and the food is the same for both, its actually been sitting awhile. 3strikes. Never again. China buffet in Tawas City puts this one to shame. read more

This restaurant was probably one of the most disgusting restaurants I've ever been to. I found several pieces of dark hair in my food and on my drink, had no refills on my drink after I drink it all, my fortune cookie was very stale, bathrooms were not family friendly from what I could see there was only a male bathroom I had to use and there was toilet paper all over the floor, and FLYS WHERE FLYING AND LANDING ON MY FOOD! disgusting never even been to a McDonalds with flys like that. The food was cold and the waiter's were obviously not wearing here in nets I do not suggest for anybody to come here and I definitely will not be visiting again after I got charged $25 for a plate with here and it was cold. read more

Horrible. Everything taste fake. This rice is always dry, the soup is terrible. No refills on drinks, the money isn't worth the food that they have. Every time I eat here I get sick. Drive down to Lee's Kitchen, and you'll get your money's worth. Also if you have kids, be prepared to be sat in the corner. They will have like 20 tables open, and you will still be put in the back. Also, be prepared to be stared at the entire time you get up to get food, and while you eat. It is a very uncomfortable setting. read more

This was such a significantly bad experience it had a negative effect on my day. Do not eat here if don't want your day ruined. It was complete slop when it came to their chicken and fried rice and to top it all off it was not warm at all. I want to start by saying i don't eat the buffet. I order off the menu only because I am vegan and it wouldn't make sense to get the buffet. So with this said the food is fresh and fantastic! I order the spicy vegetable dish extra extra spicy. The food always come out super hot and the rice is freshly made. Stopped in today at 1 :30 Tables not really clean, moved the entrance so the cold wind blows into restaurant whenever the door opens. Quite busy inside so I was surprised that pretty much everything on the Buffet was not hot. Egg Drop soup 6 feet from Buffet to table barely warm. Also the staff's children (4-7 year old's) running around in restaurant yelling to each other was quite disturbing. My better half could not take the commotion, so we left our plates less than half eaten and walked out the door. This is a prepay on the meal because after the crap service, food, and atmosphere I think a lot of people would just leave without paying. read more

Been here a couple times since heading up north. The second time when was much better and fresh. Some items were much tastier than others so you have to find what your enjoying that day and go for it. Best time to go is when busy for the food rotates faster and is fresher. I did a take out and ordered sesame chicken. The chicken was so-so, however, what really made me mad was that they lined the ends of the dish with brocolli as a filler. The dish was only about 2/3's full of chicken the rest was brocolli. I have done chinese take out from a lot of places but have never had someone put brocolli in as a filler. This place is great! They did change the recipe on the mussels, they aren't good like they used to be...sad to say. BUT everything is top of the line, delicious, fresh and hot on the buffet. I often stop and take carry-out, love the cook's choice soup (this is not available on the buffet)-great deal and wonderful soup, you'll have to try this one! Very large take-out menu with a large variety and huge servings that can be eaten in 2 meals. 10-minute wait, very fast. Value is terrific, they do state on their Take-out menu that there is NO MSG, I believe it. If you haven't been there, you have to! read more

Even though I am not a big fan of buffet dining I do enjoy this place. The best time to go is at lunch as the food tends to get rotated fast. My family and I are always happy when we go and for 7 bucks a plate it is a deal. You will see many of the local doctor office staff and other store workers at lunch time too so you know it has a good following. read more

Not much ethnic food in this county (three Chinese restaurants) but this place has been consistently clean and the food has been tasty and fairly fresh. It's a buffet, people, so there will be certain times when rice may be dry on the edges, etc. But overall, I think this place does a fantastic job. We'll keep coming back. read more

For the area, this is a pretty good Chinese buffet. Do come here when it's busy lunch or dinner time to ensure the freshness of the food. I think this goes for all buffet in general. I've been several times for lunch and have never been disappointed. It's generic American-ized Chinese food, but it's a very good selection, and the food has always been hot and fresh. The price absolutely cannot be matched anywhere in the area. An AUCE buffet for around 7 bucks? It's really a great deal. Food was a little old as if it had been out on the bar for a while. There was barely enough food to put my meal together. Sure it was after 6:00 pm but they were open serving food and we were paying customers. When one lady asked, "are there any more wonton noodles"? The waiter replied, "how many nudo do you want?".
