This is a great chinese buffet that also has a Mongolian grill, so you can create your own dishes. It's one of our favorite buffets in the area. I would have given it 5 stars but an employee made me stop taking photos of the food. I told him it was for yelp, but he said I couldn't take pictures. That's more of a north Korean policy in my book but whatever. read more

We are in for the weekend and used Yelp to find a solid Chinese Buffet. We were seated very quickly on a busy night. The scoop for the sweet n sour sauce is not a ladle, it's simply a scoop, which makes it hard to scoop the sauce into a cup. Due to the awkwardness of the scoop I semi missed the bowl I was pouring the sauce into and spilled scolding hot sauce on my hand. The scolding hot sticky sauce stuck to my hand causing a 3rd degree burn. I immediately went and told someone what happened and asked where the bathroom was so I could put cold water on the burn. I was over this place after I burned my hand, we didn't even eat, we just left. The staff did not care that I injured myself on their buffet line. read more

Been here a few times now usually during the lunch buffet . This establishment has more options then most Chinese Buffets that are in our area . Usually fairly busy during lunch but well stocked . The Mongolian Grill seems like it's a favorite but I have never gotten it down right ( my fault not theirs ) I always tend to add to much sauce or not enough if something so I don't bother with it . My favorite section is the appetizers , crab Rangoon, chicken on a stick , sugar donuts ,, etc . I also do enjoy the sushi bar although I do think they use way too much rice ( almost too thick ) . I've tried most chicken and sea food dishes and found most of them on the "it's not bad side " some I like more then others but nothing stands out to the point for me that I crave it . With the exception of Valentino's, I've never been a fan of buffets. Despite that, I decided to give China Buffet a try for lunch with a friend. The place was empty when we got there. 30 minutes later and it was packed. I mean every table was taken. The food itself was decent but it didn't blow me away. I don't eat Chinese often and I usually get something similar every time I do. This time it was rice, teriyaki chicken, and veggies. I enjoyed the variety of veggies, fruits, and deserts. If variety is your thing, China Buffet is the place to go. While I didn't try the Mongolian Grill, it looked good. I would say that if your mood for Chinese and you're in the area, give it a shot. I probably wouldn't drive across town for it though. read more

I visited this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon and I was surprised at how good the food was compared to typical Chinese buffets. They had 3 kinds of shrimp (not counting the well-stocked Mongolian barbecue) AND calamari! I've never seen a Chinese buffet that served calamari! read more

Have not tried the buffet. Only had food delivered or picked up to go. The buffet seems quite popular and reasonable. The 20 minutes I was waiting tonight, at least 25 folks came in for the buffet. Crab legs on weekends looks like the big draw. Have ordered a few times and recommend the following items: Crab Rangoon, combination Lo Mein, Kung Pao shrimp, Sesame chicken and steam dumplings. We just moved from CO and had an AMAZING Chinese buffet there. Shocked to have found something so soon here that is pretty darn good. Very few food items that we tried were losers. They keep the fresh stuff coming out pretty well so you dont have to worry about it sitting there all day before you come. Yay. They have a decent variety for a place this size and the buffet area is usually quite clean. Seating area is comfortable and spacious, always a bummer when you have to sit 2 inches from another table right lol. Staff has all been very pleasant except for one young lady who seemed irritated with the world (maybe just a bad day, they hit us all from time to time). Kitchen staff seems to be mostly Hispanic and startled when the pasty girl speaks Spanish to them. Do people in Omaha not speak enough spanish to have a short bit of pleasantries with them? It's an easy language give it a whirl. Ice cream is that nasty icey crap, the kid wouldn't even eat it. read more

Kind of small selection. The interior dinning area is very nice looking, but the buffet area is cramped and tiny. 1 salad n fruit buffet table that was pushed against a wall. 1 table of Chinese food including white rice, fried rice, and 2 types of noodles. 1 table of various foods: wings, ribs, 2 kinds of rolls, pizza and soups. The last table is their mongolian bar selections (which were exceptional)... The mongolian bar was the highlight of this establishment. the sauce selection was awesome without being too confusing IMO. Only thing that was a negative for mongo bar was the bowls are too small IMO. The rest of the food seemed on average with the exception of house rolls which I loved. The egg drop soup seemed bland. And the general tso chicken while tasting good was quite soggy. My wife however had the sesame chicken and said that was crunchy. One thing we thought was missing was seafood salad. We would eat here again, however we will be checking out the competition in the mean time. read more

Does anyone ever actually crave a buffet? I tend to once every couple of weeks and it is China Buffet. When I worked close to here I used to do the take-out option which I always felt was a good bargain and also limited my "trips" to help my waistline out. These days I have to go sit down and eat at least once a month. The Mongolian Grill option is chock full of options and it always looks clean and fresh when going down the line. Always tastes good also. The other buffet options are also good and always seem fresh. You really see the people out there turning the food over and keeping it looking and tasting good. They take pride in the business they have earned and they look like they want to keep it. Service is always fine for a buffet and even though it is very popular and busy have rarely had to wait for a seat. read more

With that being said, I also work with a bunch of dudes who like to go to lunch at places where they can eat a lot of food for little cash - and sometimes I get dragged along to lunch w/the dudes. China Buffet isn't turning the culinary establishment on its ear but it does provide a decent assortment of fresh items to choose from (makes me happy) and tons of it all for about 10-15 bucks or less (including tax, drink, tip)(makes the dudes happy). read more

This is one of my favorite places to eat and a staple in my schedule whenever I am back in town! I am not a fan of buffets, but this place is a worthy exception. I only have tried one other Chinese buffet here in Omaha (which was good, would go again) but i wanted to try out a different one for comparison. Well.... I should have gone to my previous place. The selection lacked any beef menu, just beef and broccoli but plenty of chicken items. The steamed rice was bland, unappealing and tasted like microwaveble rice. Which let me to the sushi.. same type of rice and was really disappointed. I would say that the service was excellent. The servers were very attentive so that was the plus but the selection and food quality was below any buffet standard. Price.. for the quality and selection was far too much for two $26... I should have gone with my first experience location.. I won't say the place but it's not that far from this place. read more

Not recommended. The selection is poor, most of the food is fried, and the floor is the greasiest that I have even set my feet on. The chef at the Mongolia grill does not know how to cook Chinese cuisine. The fact that this restaurant has three branches in Omaha may tell otherwise. It may cater to different clientele. This location has really gone down hill. Everything tasted like it had been sitting for hours, and had the consistency of shoe leather. The service is incredibly slow and takes forever to get your ticket. I also enountered a peice of teryaki chicken so foul i almost threw up in my mouth. My bride and I decided that we should have a Chinese food Christmas after watching several Christmas movies where the dinner was just ruined or there was no time to cook... Oh, no lol. We got take out on Dec 23 and kept it in the fridge. Using the toaster oven and a frying pan we were able to reheat everything so it did not taste like left over Chinese... which is not a bad thing anyways but not really Christmas worthy. I can understand how this restaurant got both 1 star and 5 star reviews recently, I had that experience in one meal! Most of the food I had, had decent flavor but most of it was room temperature at best. I also found it quite weird that the male server in a different section was leaning against the wall staring at people while they ate. Our server stayed busy but really wasn't around much either. This place claims to be voted as "Best Chinese Buffet in Omaha." If thats true, then the other Chinese buffets in Omaha must suck really, really bad. read more

First off, I would give less stars if I could. I had lunch at the China Buffet off of 114th and Dodge with my friend and her 8 month old daughter. At first it wasn't too bad, but people then kept bumping into the baby's stroller. We couldn't have moved the stroller any closer to the table and due to her age, we didn't want her in a booster seat. Finally a man tried to fit past her stroller and when he couldn't, he violently shoved the stroller toward the table causing the little girls head to slam into the side of the table, only giving a mumbled acknowledgement that my friends baby was injured as he kept walking. Even though we hadn't finished our lunch, we immediately got up to leave after the server refused to do anything or even get a manager for us. At the front, they also refused to help us but were more than happy to make us pay for our unfinished meals. Only after calling another store (that also refused to give us a corporate number) was a manager contacted at the original location. According to China Buffet, her daughters injury was only worth a $10 coupon which will not even be used as we will NOT be returning! read more

To be totally objective I'm writing this review weeks after my visit to China Buffet, as I'm not quick to give a bad review. I waited to see if I'd feel differently with time given but that is not the case ~ The moment we entered into the establishment my appetite slowly began to fade. By the time we were seated and it came time to order I could not bring myself to even politely fake my way through it. I had absolutely no desire to eat at this place. I simply ordered a drink on which I sipped while the rest of the family ate. I got the overall impression the place was not as clean as it should be. This impression is from the smell, and from my observation of physical details. I've been to several other China buffets so while I'm not a fish eater I can compare fairly. There are several Chinese food places I have no issue going to again and finding plenty to eat so that my family may enjoy eating the fish, crab legs, etc. The overall smell from the time we entered was not pleasant ~ rather not typical of any other Chinese buffet I'd been too. Since my family was eating (though my 18 month old granddaughter's appetite seemed waning along with mine) the food must have been acceptable. So I venture to say what I was smelling came from a build up improper cleaning, or lack of thorough cleaning along side the serving of borderline food (meaning on the brink of becoming bad.) There are restaurants I've had the experience of not enjoying very much, but this is the first time I've had the experience of totally losing my appetite due to lack of cleanliness and the presence of smells. I must also add that I will not enter into this place again to even politely sip on a drink. Quick comment about the service. People functioned in their duties of acknowledgement of arrival, seating and counting heads at the table and accepting of money. There was no warmth or pleasant greeting. ~ simply put it was just "very matter of fact." Therefore I would say the service was not bad because "matter of fact service" is much better than "intrusive service or very slow service." So I gave China Buffet one star based on this. read more

Grand China Buffet, not very grand at all. A big let down!! Your better off going to a Panda Express or maybe McDonald's. The Buffet had many choices, but only a few were edible. You are greeted by a disgruntled hostess, who has the personality of sand paper. The rest of the staff seemed helpful and hardworking, but they seemed very unhappy. I must say the restaurant was busy, but the clientele too, were typical comfort eaters. Focused more on the quantity than the quality of the food being offered. Overall, I doubt I will ever go to a Chinese Buffet again due to this bad experience. read more

Ate here yesterday with my 5 year old and I have to say it was such a horrible experience. All the servers want is $$$/tips!!! They sat us in the farthest corner of the place and the waitress gave us our bill and she she insisted that I pay with her (not at the front).. I gave her my credit card and she came back to have me sign it, (not even 5 minutes), as soon as I signed it, she came back for it. My child was still eating! How rude! Yep it's a buffet. The bonus is "sushi" rolls and the Mongolian grill or maybe the added bonus is the chicken wings. If I'm eating somewhere, then there better be wings! The servers are good but other than that, this place has been worse and worse the last few times I've gone. It used to be really good for the price, but not anymore. The sushi rolls don't look as appetizing anymore and don't seem too fresh. The crab Rangoon, which used to be my favorite, look dried out and the flavor is bland. The chicken wings are not crispy, but mushy. Last night I went and it was about a half hour till closing. I know not to expect buffets to be fresh close to closing, but they even turned down the temp on the Mongolian grill early. So, when my food was put on the grill, it didn't sizzle like it normally does and the sauces I put didn't really cook and reduce. I asked the cook if he could keep my food on a little longer because I didn't feel it was safe to eat and he did. I asked the manager if the grill's temp was lowered and he said yes, and that they do lower the temp close to closing. Even though they said we could keep eating past nine, they cleared the Mongolian grill food out about 5-10 minutes prior, to closing so there was only old buffet food left. I know they wanted to get home, but they shouldn't sacrifice safety. We won't be back. read more
