This was my favorite place to eat until I saw a roach on the buffet table. Haven't been back since.

I do not recommend this place. Walked in to the buffet area and there was a roach crawling near the plates. Will not return.

Food is subpar. It could be good some of the dishes are acceptable, however I've been to china buffet's they are much much better.

Food is not what it usually should taste like. They spent more money and attention on the scenery then on the cook

I just had their salt and pepper tofu and felt absolutely compelled to leave a positive review. Let…read moreme explain. I've known about Golden Imperial since it opened. Back then, I hated it. Everything I got on the buffet was super mid, borderline, yucky. I think buffets are really just hard things to do correctly in general. But then, during the pandemic, they switched to made-to-order and it's like the clouds parted and shined blessings upon them. One of my friends told me to give them another chance after the switch and I'm so glad she did! Despite how Americanized-Chinese they are, their dishes are great! The only thing that kept me from writing a review earlier is that I really dislike sweet entrees. I don't like orange chicken. Why do I want a dessert for my meal? Why would I want a sweet protein? Even my go-to Chinese-American curry dish at Golden Imperial is pretty sweet. Part of that has to do with the fact that the only vegetable they use in the curry is onion (where are the silky smooth potatoes and carrots that are usually in Chinese curry?!), but I thought it was still passable compared to everything else. And then I ordered salt and pepper tofu. I'm not a vegetarian anymore, but I still appreciate a tofu or vegetable dish, so if I'm getting take out, I usually order one meat, one veggie. Oh. My. God. The S&P tofu... So savory, so tangy, so much umami (y'all know that MSG is amazing, right? It's not unhealthy! That was just racist propaganda). It's addicting. I can't wait to have it again even though I was absolutely stuffed after both times I ate the one entree I ordered (Golden Imperial portions aren't cheap but they are filling - you can get at least 2 meals out of one order - I wouldn't pay almost $20 per entree if I couldn't stretch it). So, this is all to say, if you want Asian food that doesn't taste like it could've been on the menu at Baskin Robbins, explore what Golden Imperial has to offer. While I'm disappointed by the curry, I still like it. And the Salt and Pepper tofu just taught me that I need to see what other gems they have to offer. If you know what Homer Simpson daydreaming about a donut looks like, that's me thinking about the next time I can get S&P tofu. Yay Golden Imperial! Please keep it up and if you can, tell us which things on the menu aren't full of sugar. It would really help change what's on your "popular" list. Americans, especially small town Americans, just aren't adventurous when it comes to food. Tell us what to try and we'll try it but if you don't, we're just gonna order what we always order or what is on the menu at that drive-thru "Chinese" place. You're better than that! You're a hometown hero. We want to support you.

Food and drinks: This place has well designed menu that lets you easily choose from many different dishes. There is something for everyone here, from soups to shareable dishes, noodle options, and variety of meats. The spice levels are added for awareness. The food was very flavoursome, well seasoned and balanced. All foods had traditional flavours to them. You can choose flavoured green teas to accompany your meal. Service was spot on, quick, and we got our food in what felt like maybe a few minutes. We started off with pork dumplings for the kiddo, which he INHALED in moments. For entrees, we split the orange chicken and the Spicy/Numbing Pot. The orange chicken was spot on. The sauce was sweet but not painfully sweet or thick/clumpy. Really nice orange flavor and tender chicken. So much fun eating it since it is gluten free! Our kiddo also devoured this dish! Mild - not spicy at all! The Spicy Numbing Pot, while a little oily/greasy on the bottom, was still delicious! I appreciated that it wasn't knock your socks off spicy - it had a solid kick, and so flavorful. I love eating dishes with Sichuan Pepper; it has a lot of flavor, and the tingling is so much fun. This dish was perfect with some rice, and it wasn't too heavy for the middle of the day. The prices were really reasonable, and there was enough food for leftovers which we ate later that night. Our only regret is not getting the duck appetizer, but we will be sure to get it next time. We can't wait to go back, and Tiger Noodle will happily be in regular rotation for our family! You can't go wrong!

Food-wise: the chicken was good (and very hot/steaming). The crab puffs were nicely fried--super crisp--but the filling was basically just cream cheese. Even a little seasoning (or a touch of crab) would make them a lot better. Fried rice and white rice were fine. The egg rolls tasted very "pre-made/wholesale/Sysco truck." I'm giving it a 3 mainly because I like the staff and I'm willing to give it one more try. My wife and kid said they're out, never again. I also hate how they shamed the bad tipper. Not the cleanest well kept place.

So I went in and yes I was a bit surprised by the place and said Oh no..but I was already there and every other Chinese takeout around the area were closed. I've never tried the Singapore noodles but always read it's the best thing to order when ordering takeout and had my mind set on that. So the girl at the register mentioned Curry but I've never tried that before so I said sure...let's do it. I mentioned it was my birthday and how this was my "bday dinner" not to get anything free just making small talk. Without hesitation she went and grabbed a drink and said here you go.It's not much but it was a very nice gesture. So I live about 30+min from the restaurant and wasn't expecting much since I've been let down before by takeout places. When I got home and opened the boxes I was surprised by the amount. Most places around the area from Waller to Sealy will give you maybe a scoop of their food. When I tell you that this will be my go to place now. The food was delicious. Singapore noodles are now my fav. At first, like most people,I went a bit crazy on my seasoning. It honestly didn't need any of the extra soy I added. I'm more of a steamed rice but forgot to ask. Not saying this one was bad.Wish I got into my egg roll sooner cus it got soggy but again it's a 30min drive but that's on me. I did save a bit to have some leftover today. Wish I had saved more but it was so good I ate most of it. Definitely recommend this place.

Look no further for authenticity, flavor, and complexity in Chinese cooking near the med center!…read more Though we opted for more "simple" dishes during this experience, you can judge a place by if they can do their simple dishes well. The mapo tofu is one of the best we've had outside of Bellaire with spicy, savory, numbing, and warmth that you expect from a good mapo tofu. Crispy popcorn chicken is a classic that's spicy, lightly fried, and crisp. It has an authenticity that other places around can't replicate and makes you keep craving more. The portions are also appropriate for their price. Service is incredibly quick, and you can order as you go and receive your dish within 10-15 minutes, regardless of how busy they are. As for the ambiance, it's loud, it's hectic, and it's simple... maybe a stretch, but makes me feel like I'm eating at a mom and pop shop in the heart of China. This place is definitely a go to if I'm convincing a friend of Houston's great food scene! Rating: 4.5/5

No complaints here since we were starving from an 8 hour road trip. The Dan Dan Noodles...I had high expectations but sadly this dish fell short. I recommend Hu's Cooking to use a bigger bowl and more sauce because it was difficult to mix the noodles and the sauce wasn't...saucing, unfortunately. I wish there was more flavor in this dish. The Scallion Pancake was super over-fried and oily. See image in my review. The outer parts of the pancake were fried to a crisp and only a small circumference in the center stayed chewy. I know Chinese tends to be oily but this pancake soaked up way too much oil. Half a Peking duck: super great price for so much meat. The difficulty when eating this dish is gnawing the meat off the sharp bones of the duck. Mapo Tofu with white rice: pretty easy staple, no complaints here. Dinner on a Saturday was packed but we got seated quickly and food arrived fast.
