She also confirmed they had Chow Fun -- one of our favorite dishes. Everything was okay. Nothing to really get excited about. We had the following: Triple Delight ($15) - I've had better General Tso ($14) - not bad Chicken fried rice ($10) - exactly what you'd expect On my second visit, I tried the following dishes and was much more satisfied. Kung Pao Chicken ($13) - Pretty good! Though I'm used to a bit more veggies with my KPC... but I would definitely order this again. The only veggies I could see were the dried red chili peppers and peanuts. Beef Chow Fun ($13) - Good, but....I loved the wide noodles and they were pretty well prepared; not clumpy nor mushy. The order of Chicken & broccoli cost 8.25 for lunch combination with egg roll and fried rice. They end up charging me $10.07 that is more than 20% tax. Also, the food is so salty and nasty. If you can't conduct an honest business, you should not be running any business. This is my last time at this restaurant. They overcharge you money for food and treat customers like some beggar. I came in for a pick up order last week. I wanted to love this place because it's so close to my house. While they're processing my credit card I saw a brown mouse run underneath the soda cases that line the back wall. I thought I was seeing things until a darker mouse ran by. I told the woman at the cash register, the younger woman behind her didn't seemed surprised and barely moved. I ordered delivery last evening for the first time at this restaurant. My husband loves Chinese food and his favorite is Beef Szechuan. When I got home with the food he took the first bite and asked me what was wrong with it. It looked normal but when I tasted it I cannot explain but it was like jelled and the meat did not taste real, no flavor. I told him maybe it needs to be heated up so we tried that and it tasted worse. I would not recommend the beef szechuan and would like my money back for that dish. My dish the Mu shi chicken with the pancakes was good but they did not put the plum sauce in the bag so that was disappointing as well. I will not be ordering from here again. read more

I wouldn't know authentic Chinese food if it bit me in my fat American face. I enjoy Sichuan Village's buffet even though another reviewer called it an "insult to Chinese people." Well, the Asians who eat there don't look too insulted. Granted, I don't know how many of them are Chinese, but it's a popular joint. Too popular; I went there for dinner last night, and as I parked and got ready to head in, TWO bus-loads of Asians streamed in (incidentally, they didn't look insulted either). Wanting to get my Kung Pao on but not wanting to beat back hordes of little old ladies, I decided to once again pick up that oft-abandoned quest, to find GOOD Kung Pao. Like I said... No clue what it's "really" supposed to look or taste like. All I know is that I grew up on the Kung Pao from Foong Lin in Bethesda and was totally in love with it. Little did I know that everywhere else in the country, Kung Pao is brown. MY (and Foong Lin's) Kung Pao is a glorious, smoldering red. Only a precious few places make it that way, and since I'd moved to Virginia, I couldn't find one. Until last night. A yelp search from the parking lot for "Kung Pao" turned up China Cafe. I'd never seen it before. I'm outside their delivery area, so I never got their menu on my front door. (By the way, am I the only one who believes that kind of "advertising" is really littering?) But a previous reviewer glowed about my sought-after dish, so, famished and rudely denied at the buffet, I fired up the GPS and went hunting. For those of you who are as directionally challenged as myself, a word of warning: TomTom isn't all that helpful in finding this place. It dropped me equidistant from three different strip malls. Oy. Anyway, find it I did. Try it I did. Love it I did. I sampled two different Kung Paos (chicken and shrimp), and picked up a combo lo mien, which I'm now eating for breakfast. All were/are delicious, and GLORIOUSLY RED! ok, the lo mien isn't red. It's normal tan. But it's definitely yummy. My only complaint is that the Kung Pao shrimp was more water chestnut than shrimp. I figured it wasn't going to be solid shrimp since it cost basically the same as the chicken, but I'm not a big fan of water chestnut. Next time I'll get one of the combos with shrimp and see if I can improve the ratio. Anyway, as long as China Cafe is open, my quest is complete! read more

Update: I believe this restaurant has been bought out by another family. I've notice a change in the last few visits. The famous lo mein I used to rave about no longer tastes or looks the same; the noodles are more like thick udon noodles making it difficult to twirl on my fork (if you know, you know). The general tso chicken is no longer mostly chicken but almost all breading. I even got some pieces that were just breading! I'm sad to see the change and am reluctant to say that I'm back on the hunt, after all these years, for good takeout Chinese. read more

My go to for carryout Chinese food when I'm in the area. Been going here for over 15 years and never leave disappointed. I always get their General Tso's and it's the BEST. Crispy and the sauce is excellent. The restaurant is always very clean and the people that run it are very nice. The review below on the General Tso's seems odd, I've never had a bad experience with their General Tso's. It's always meaty and crispy, which is how I like it. I frequent Backyard, the restaurant next door and have noticed that there's always people dining in and taking out. We ordered steamed dumplings, general tso's chicken, chicken lomain and beef and broccoli. We really enjoyed the dumplings, gen. chicken and lomain. I wasn't crazy about the texture of the beef in the beef and broccoli. However, I do have to say the broccoli was very fresh! It was crunchy not soggy, which I liked. They giver you a lot of food for $10.95 for an entree. I will definitely be back but maybe not for the beef and broccoli.... or maybe I'll just go back for the broccoli read more

I would have want less sweetness and more spicey like the orange chicken I grew up on. However my brother disagreed and swore it was twice as good as the one we used to get. I was with my girl and as we were new to the restaurant, we went for sharing the 'dinner'. The dish was good in quantity for two for a light meal and more than sufficient for one person's heavy meal. The taste was really awesome and in the very first 2-3 bites I was convinced to come back again. We enjoyed the dish till the end and made up our mind for coming next time. The place is clean, the staff is professional and polite. Price range is also not high. The cafe is in a shopping plaza so u have ample of open parking just in front. The place is not very big, but not very small either. I think people mostly go for take aways so they don't have that big arrangement for dinning there. If you are expecting a fancy restaurant with waiters, garnished food in stylish crockery then this is not the place. they serve food in disposable plates, and no waiter service.
