China Cottage has everything that I look for in Chinese food- it's fast, cheap, and delicious food with friendly service. My coworker and I come here often as its close to our office, and we're both fans of the place. The place itself is small, and fills up between 1130-1pm pretty quickly so come early of you're eating in. The wait staff is fast and very friendly- ask them for recommendations and they're more than happy to help. I always get their General Tso's Chicken lunch special, which come with your choice of soup (egg drop, hot and sour, or wonton), fried or steamed rice, and an egg roll all for about $7. Honestly, their Hot and Sour soup is probably the best I've ever had- good flavor without being either too hot or too sour, with a great consistency and mix of veggies too boot. My coworker gets the wonton soup, and neither of us leave anything in our bowls. As with most Chinese restaurants, before you've even had a chance to finish your soup the waitress is bringing out the meals. The food has always been hot and fresh when we get it- not like it's been sitting under a hot lamp all afternoon like some places I've been. The chicken is delicately breaded and tossed in a delightful sauce, which again is not too think or spicy if you pull all the jalapeño slices out. They proved plenty of fried rice, and have even brought me more when I ask. The rice is pretty plain, fried with only an egg and soy sauce it seems, but it's perfect for mopping up the sauce from your meal. The egg rolls are delicious!!! Again, hot and flaky with lots of shredded cabbage and veggies. I'm hungry again just thinking about the egg rolls... Mmmm.... Waitresses have always been friendly and helpful. You may need to flag her down for the check, but they're normally very attentive and refil drinks often. I've never had any issues with the wait staff here, and have never been given any attitude even when having to flag down a waitress (always one of my biggest concerns). I ended up having a whole bunch of food because they apparently don't have lunch combo specials but it was plenty for dinner that day as well. Food is a solid 3. The super fast and no minimum delivery makes it a 4! My order: General Tso's chicken. About $11 & add $1 for fried rice. Plentiful serving. Crisp, fresh bell peppers, you can choose your heat level - I chose medium to start so I could get an idea of what their levels were - and lots of little chunks of nice white chicken meat. If you like a lot of sauce you might want to ask for more. But it was tasty and enough for 2 meals. So the $11 price tag was fine by me. I added the "meal deal" for $3.50. A small plastic to go container of hot and sour soup - you can get egg drop or wonton if you want. It was really good. Spicy and sour and filled with fresh mushrooms. I also got a small egg roll and a nice won ton. Both your average Chinese delivery apps. The menu has most of your basic Chinese dishes. The lunch specials are not part of the delivery menu. Most entrees run between $9-$15. They do have drinks you can order with your meal, veggie dishes and steamed items for you health nuts! The food was pretty good. Not the best Chinese food I've ever had, but noticably better than most of the restaurants in our delivery area. We have ordered from them off and on over the years and never had a problem until this order. One (and only one) of our items had a piece of broken container plastic in it. Luckily we were eating with chopsticks so the piece was found before any injury occurred. I just urge the kitchen staff to be more careful. read more

I've been coming to this place since 2009, back when it was located in Memorial area. When I first tried it, I wasn't convinced but it became one of those things I later craved and learned to appreciate lol. It used to be a favorite amongst my coworkers at my old place of work. My coworker And I ordered from here for lunch, we both got lunch portions with egg drop soup and egg rolls. She got chicken and broccoli and I got beef and broccoli. First of all, I paid with a credit card over the phone and when the delivery guy got here he had to call and re-run my card, saying it was declined. I called my bank and they said there was no reason for the decline. Kind of a turn off, and a little sketch. It all tasted like a canned version of the real thing.. The fried rice was pretty dry but edible, the egg drop soup was way just off and had an after taste. The beef and broccoli however was pretty good, I've had worst. I ordered delivery to my hotel. They were closing in 30mins. They still took my order but rushed me. The total was more than I expected and later I realized they charged me for the large instead of the small so the bill was $45. Delivering was decent. They were right down the street. They accepted cards too for delivery. The food was hot a delicious. The basil shrimp was great with yummy crunchy asparagus and other yummy veggies. The ribs were yummy too. I liked everything, wings (although they could have been more flavorful, they had a good crunch), white rice, but I didn't like the Mongolian chicken. The food is decent, but the staff are a bit off. Immediately after receiving a customer's signed check, they always hold it up high and take a quick glance at it. It just looks odd, and I get a feeling from the expressions on their faces that they are checking how much the customer tips. My suspicions came true one day when I came for lunch with a group. We paid at the counter, and a guy in our party did not tip. The staff behind the counter, after doing their hold-each-check-up-high-and-read-it routine, got all upset and started chit chatting in Chinese. I understand Chinese and could tell they were upset at "that white guy" who did not tip. Moreover, they had the audacity to ask me (in Chinese) "Do you know that white guy? Tell him to tip!" I've only ever done delivery from this place, but let me tell you, I'm hooked. I'm going to be sad if I ever have to move away from their delivery area. Their chicken fried rice (or shrimp or beef) is really quite fantastic. That's not something I typically order as a meal, but usually something that I order to go along with my entree. Not from this place. The CFR is just fantastic. Good vegetables in it and plenty of chicken so that it actually eats like a meal, not just like rice. The Chicken LoMein was also really good. Their noodles are fresh and have a good taste to them all on their own. Their standard entrees are good too, particularly the beef with snow peas but since I've discovered the CFR and CLM, I haven't even really bothered with the other entrees. Egg rolls are good, spring rolls are good, crab puffs are good, the chicken wings are good. The only thing I've ordered there that I wasn't particularly taken with was their hot and sour soup, but it wasn't bad, just nothing to shout about. I haven't ordered it since if that means anything. Their delivery drivers are always courtious and prompt. (I've ordered probably 10 or 15 times now.) I'd highly suggest this place for a good chinese meal with no frills, just good food. read more

I read the reviews before going and I either saw 1 star or 5. Since this place is walking distance from my job, I had to try it myself. I walked in around 12:44 pm, got greeted right way for my choice of beverage. I got my water and then ordered: Lunch combo Chicken and broccoli w/brown sauce, fried rice, an egg roll and egg drop soup. By 12:49 I received my food. I was out of there by 1:05. The Service: Was really fast, a think a little tooo fast. My waitress wasn't at all talkative but that worked better for me; order, eat and go. The Food: As stated in other reviews the egg drop soup did not have much flavor. With a little Soy Sauce and pepper, it was good. Egg roll was actually really good; crunchy!! The broccoli was made perfectly; a little soft with a crunch. Rice was OK, probably my least favorite, needed to be cooked a little longer (Maybe 3-5 mins). The portion of my food was perfect for me. I do not eat that much so anyone who likes to eat, make sure to order 2 meals or maybe appetizers. For $7.25, it wasn't that bad. In my opinion this little hole in the wall is one of the better Chinese restaurants in the area. The staff are friendly. The dining area clean. Food arrives quickly and is of good quality and the prices are quite reasonable. I've tried a variety of their dishes and have yet to find anything that I didn't like. My only real complaint, and it's pretty minor, is that the parking in front of the restaurant is usually taken up by people patronizing other businesses in the strip center so you have to park further away in the parking lot. Recently they put up signs reserving some nearer spaces for the restaurant so that is no longer a problem. read more

I got the general tsos dinner combo which comes with egg drop soup (with choice of hot and sour), cheese puff, egg roll, and fried rice. The egg roll was very watery and had no flavor. The cheese puff was bleh and the sweet and sour dipping sauce was no help. The egg rolls were tasty. The general tsos was not crispy as it should be. It was all white meat, which I know people may like, but it is way worse than dark meat for this kind of dish. The sauce was tasty and it had a decent kick with the jalapeños. A friend of mine is visiting from out of town and really wanted to get some delivery since it's cold and raining out. I had two menus from this place that had been left of my door and decided to give them a try. The one good thing...the delivery was fast and the man was nice. Now. We ordered about $30 so that we got the delivery. The fried rice is basically white rice that has been half cook and soaked in soy sauce. The general tso chicken is small little bits of what I can assume is chicken Mcnuggets soaked in a sweet sauce and Cooked with some pickled jalapeños. I love General tso chicken so much...and this actually hurt my soul. I ordered something from them yesterday and they lady hung up in my face when I was concerned about my order. Then when I went to their facility to check on the food they said was en route to our hotel they lied and said we never ordered. After I went back to my place they brought the food.
