I used to come here in high school all the time since it is right around the corner from the school. I have tried many different dishes here ranging from the generals chicken to the twice cooked pork. In high school, I think I loved this place cause it was $5 for lunch and a ton of food. I have been out of high school for almost 10 years and have gone back a few times since then, and it is really gross. The chicken doesn't even resemble chicken. It is a bunch of chicken gristle which is breaded and has a mediocre sauce. The twice cooked pork is just ok. The food is extremely greasy which never sits well in the stomach. If you want good chinese food, travel to Minden and go to Mandarin Gourmet or head up to Reno to several different locations there. read more

Oh China East, my favorite hole in the wall chinese restaurant in northern nevada. First off why is it a hole in the wall, even tho its on Highway 50 its covered bu thick trees, so it looks like theres no there. And then you walk in there, and there is literally maybe 10 tables. The decor is so out dated, but I like that, it reminds me of China town in SF. So if you're looking for decor, this is not the palce. Theres lunch and dinner. First off the only reason I gave them a 4 star and not a 5 star is because, there lunch specials are fucking awesome. So put that in your books. You get to choose an entree and comes with chow mein and fried rice and with soup, either hot sour or egg noodle, and you always get hot tea with your meal, no charge. And there tea, is great.. It will burn your damn mouth so let it cool down a bit but the flavor is amazing.. There dinner menu is alittle different, they have your normal 2 to 6 people choice menu or you can do the dinner special. The special is cheap, but you dont get all the stuff that you get with lunch.. But dinner is always good. But for the amount of delicious food you get for your money for lunch, lunch is always the best bet. And thats why during lunch time that place is nuts. But they also do take out, and they have a drive thru, which is awesome because there super fast, which works out if you have to hurry back to work.. I was whining (as most of us men usually do) about being hungry and Shannon couldn't take it anymore. She hit me in the arm and ordered me to pull into China East. I've eaten here multiple times and I will say that for the amount of money spent I feel we actually get a food bargain by going here. The dinner specials are well portioned. Shannon wanted the Szechuan shrimp and I craved my favorite curry shrimp again. They brought out eggrolls for us and the hot and sour soup and a couple of fried prawns. Then we were served our main menu. Our steamed rice portion was huge! The curry shrimp was awesomely spicy! But the best part about China East is the drive thru! Order by phone and drive thru and pick it up! Strangely, we were seated by a white kid and a Hispanic lady served us. Our favorite Chinese food in Carson City! We have eaten here many times and it never disappoints. The food is always fast and fresh with great service. I don't tend to leave reviews but my family has been going here for more than two decades ever since I was a tot and we love it. The atmosphere is nice for dining in (especially after the remodel) and the drive thru is actually faster than some fast food joints. Service is friendly and the food is always good. It's not greasy or drowned in sauce but has real substance and flavor. Lunch specials are cheap and you get a kettle of tea upon request. I'm especially a fan of their paper wrapped chicken which I often have a hard time finding at other restaurants. Ultimately, what, or rather who has always impressed us is the waitress we've had nearly every time we've come in- she has an eidetic memory and remembers our complicated, long winded order even with 1-2 year long spans between visits. One star for the decent prices and one star for my boyfriends alright shrimp dish he ordered. This place has a drive thru and its not that nice outside or inside but its alright. I had the wonton noodle soup and I was disappointed. First of all I asked for egg noodle and they gave me chow mein noodles. When I told the boy waiter I asked for egg noodle he told me it was. Wow! The wor wonton soup is sooo good! So many wontons!! The flavor is great! I live in Dayton and asked my husband to pick me up this soup since I am on a restricted diet. Just passing through Carson City and wanted to stop for a quick lunch. Chinese food is always my favorite, so I found this place on yelp, and got the lunch special. General chicken, rice, chicken chow mein, hot and sour soup, and an egg roll for only $6.50 (what?!). This is a price I would pay for much less food that was lower quality. This food was great. The general chicken had a perfect golden crispy texture, and the soup was exceptionally flavorful. Staff was helpful and efficient and whatever they're doing in the kitchen is working. I LOVE China East. Their service is fast and (was) the first drive-thru Chinese in Carson. I would suggest that if you're ordering while you're at the restaurant, please GO IN! Don't clog up the drive-thru. Most people ordering here have called ahead and don't want to get out to get the food. Just an observation. Though most of their dishes are alright and not a ton of flavor, they're all good. I haven't had anything here that I thought was "bad". I am a fan of their beef and broc. It comes with a lot of sauce and I love to put it on top of my rice. They're all reasonably priced and fill you up! However, I will forever come back to this place for their hot and sour soup. IT IS THE BEST HOT AND SOUR SOUP I'VE EVER HAD and I've tried many different places. It's thick, full of flavor and cheap! $7 for a large order. I like to order mine with extra green onions! If you're trying to decide if this is the place for you, give it a go and I promise you will want to come back. Quick and fast and sometimes grimy. China East is a solid option when desiring a big lunch with little time and even fewer dollars. I've only had their lunch specials but they are all very solid. China East is that place - only better, they are super fast, really great prices, and have a drive through - What a drive through, yep, it is that fast. First time eating at this establishment and overall experience was not great. Food was good, but the service was far from great. I asked one simple question to supplement chow mein with rice noddles and I received a lecture from the owner about not being able to do that. Enjoyed going here previously but after today we will not return. There were 2 people eating when we got there. We ordered but must have been after a large take out order was placed. We waited about 15minutes at least before getting the food. Others were coming in and getting their food very quickly. Th place was packed by the time we were leaving. First the young waitress gave us some one else's bill and take out which we had no take out. When we got our bill my husband noticed she had not charged for our wine. So he left the amount of the wine along with the bill plus a tip. We left and she and another person came out the door yelling that she forgot to charge for the wine.
