Today, my wife and I tried the China Express for lunch for the first time. We have lived here over 12 years, so I guess the time was right. You can order from the menu or get a Combo A or a Combo B plate from the buffet. We ordered from the menu. I was disappointed in this place in several ways. The food wasn't the worst I've ever had but it was very greasy and very expensive. I ordered shrimp lo mein and there exactly three - count em three pieces of shrimp in the dish. The flavors were okay but mostly bland. This wasn't my first choice, but with limited time, figured "express" was the way to go. The only thing that was "fresh" were the made to order ragoons. The General and chicken for the sweet and sour pork were cold. When told management about it, he just shrugged his shoulders and didn't care. Don't let the surrounding fool you. China Express is near a motel, 99 cent Store, KFC and on a busy street. The place is surprisingly nice with a lots of variety. Since "express" is in their name, I didn't expect this place to have the best quality food. It's greasy but better than Panda Express. They also load you up. read more

Honestly, the food wasn't the best. I ordered the Beef Pho soup. I am a big fan of soup so I was very exited to try this out since I have heard such great reviews about Pho soup. The soup was spicy, which I like, but the flavor was off. After a few spoon of soup, I felt like I wanted to throw-up. The soup was disgusting. I wouldn't recommend this soup from China Express but the other food options they have are okay. They have several options such as spring rolls, orange chicken, bourbon chicken, wontons, etc. If you decide to visit this restaurant I would recommend staying away from the Pho soup and trying out the other options available. read more

I had both rice and noodles and they were both plain with not much flavor. i also got the orange chicken and man that sucks. it is the SAME EXACT chicken they use for the general sou but the base flavor on both was crap. The teriyaki chicken was in a slimy sauce and the first bite was okay but just went down hill with every bite. I can normally pack down the whole plate on a good day but this this i took 5 bite in all and cashed out. Wasn't feeling well at all after the meal and wound up throwing up. Excellent for Chinese. My daughter and I came and she just wanted the plain chicken for sweet and sour chicken and that's it. They gave her a very good amount of food. My portions on my combo was excellent. The food was fresh and good. The lady serving even took time to come out and check on everyonebin the dining room. Came into the store and didnt feel welcomed at all walked into a quiet store the employee not even noticing me walk in. The food looked awful it looked slimy and as if no one had touched it all day. I had a pretty poor meal and I don't dine here any more. The interior of this restaurant is bright and fairly comfortable. The service behind the counter tends to be friendly and prompt. But, it is the pricing that draws those customers who still enter the doors. It can't be the food quality. You can get a meal here from around $4.50 to $5.50, but, is it worth that? This is essentially Chinese food with a little Vietnamese thrown in. Most of the food is pre-prepared and sitting in warming trays. They serve you; this is not self serve. When this place first opened I had a cooked to order meal and it was fairly good. But, the most recent visit was my last visit. I ordered a double combo meal that was served in a styrofoam container. The beef and broccoli was served in a liquid......never a good sign. I could only finish half of this part of the combo. The other entree was General Tso's Chicken. Without question this was the worst version of General Tso's Chicken I've ever been served. Most of it was a gelatinous and gummy mess with no flavor whatsoever. Underneath the gummy mess I could find no chicken to speak of. Neither the rice nor the lo mein were good. The meal was a total failure and I threw it in the garbage can. This was a complete waste of $6.00. Now, I'm not suggesting that "all" the food at the China Express is like the food I threw in the can, but I don't want to take any chances. There are other places to go. If China Express can serve a meal like I had, what kind of professional pride can the cooks have in what they put out there? What to expect if you go: An ambiance not bad for a casual meal, service ok for fast food, and food that may be tolerable or may be a disaster. Ditto to Donald's review. I went there for the first time today...amazing. I'm not much of a fan of Chinese food as it is, but both my husband and I thought the food was the best Chinese in the city.
