We weren't expecting a decent Japanese restaurant around here but Mix Pacific Rim was a pleasant surprise. The staff were very friendly and they were very efficient even though they had line forming out the door. We tried several of our favorites (see photos). The sashimi was fresh, and food had good flavor. The tempura had nice thin tempura batter with perfect crunch. Ginger beef was delicious. We will return to try their ramen next time. (The bento is a choice of 1 entree, a rice choice and 2 sides) I ordered teriyaki chicken, fried rice, sautéed zucchini and vegetable spring rolls. The teriyaki chicken looked like it was boiled with some sauce on it. It was tough and stringy and tasted somewhat boiled. Nothing like the picture of a nice chargrilled chicken that they advertise. The sautéed zucchini were half sautéed, half raw. They ran out of fried rice so I had steamed rice and I didn't even taste the spring rolls because the chicken was so terrible that I returned the whole bento box. Then onto the Shoyo ramen. The broth did not taste like a chicken broth. It was more like a salty soy sauce water broth. Nothing savory, just salty. At this point, I wanted to get up and leave but I forced myself to eat the noodles which were good, the egg was fresh, and the pork was ok. The tempura shrimp were flavorless. I also ordered some California rolls. They tasted like the ones from Sam's club blah and small. What a waste of money. Not ever going back. read more

Great place and great food. Their Ramen soups are fantastic and plentiful. I recommend the panko roll, space cowboy, tempura eel and rainbow roll. We came in on a Saturday at 5 pm. We were seated right away. Took a while to take our order and get water- which had stuff floating in it. My husband tried to order a beer but they said they only had warm beer they could serve us. We ordered an appetizer. 20 minutes later we were told it would be right out. 40 minutes later, the manager was apologizing and told us she had given us a discount. The discount was $1 off. Wasn't really the discount we felt we deserved. The waitress ended up being pretty rude to us. Never apologized for the delay. I enjoy eating here however, I came in on a Monday at lunchtime. Wrong timing for an old fart reconnoitering . I wanted Yakisoba noodles and ordered. The special of the day was ramen and they apparently used ramen noodles in place of soba noodles. I got the beef added. Very tasty. Wrong choice for a toothless wonder though. I got it as a carry out finally and brought it home and cooked the food more thoroughly so I could chew the lightly sautéd vegetables that were in the dish originally. I made the mistake of ordering Vietnamese style spring rolls. They are okay but not authentic by any stretch of the imagination. The menu said crab meat which is imitation crab meat. Overall the spring rolls were underwhelming. Mostly lettuce and imitation crab and zero rice noodles. Vietnamese Spring rolls should consist of some vegetables and carrot matchsticks and rice noodles with shrimp wrapped in rice paper not copious amounts of lettuce and imitation crab wrapped in rice paper. The saving grace was the dipping sauce. It was the real deal. When I've gone in before, I've always gotten a Bento Box. I've come to the conclusion that I should stick with ordering Bento Boxes or ramen. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service was just fine however, the seating is limited and lunch is busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I thought about ordering a roll of some kind from the sushi list. That's probably a better alternative to spring rolls. I like the food and it's good. Today though, I made some choices I kind of regret. The servers were attentive and it's a nice place to eat. My experience today was what I would refer to as user error. Nothing to do with the restaurant itself except for the non-authentic Vietnamese spring rolls. Actually, I ended up throwing a 18 dollar meal in the garbage can. That's just me though. This is the first time eating here that it was basically inedible for me. I went in for Lunch Saturday 2-18-24, it was the best choice I made since moving to Las Cruces in 2018. The food was fantastic, the restaurant people were great. (The only negative was the temper tantrum from the kid. The mother was at least gracious enough to take him outside about 4 times. I have been eating here for years and it's been constantly perfect. My mom and I went all the time and I had the first date with my girlfriend there! It has consistently been my go to for ramen and the spicy pecan chicken with a rainbow roll will always be my go to.
