The owners (husband and wife duo) are very sweet and, once our family quickly became regulars, they took the time to remember our custom orders (lots of food allergies). The food is always fresh tasting and not soaked in salt like the other places in town. We have only dined in a handful of times, but it's usually a to-go sort of place. Whenever I try a new or different Chinese Restaurant I always order sweet and sour chicken. It's a basic dish and tells you alot about the quality and care that goes into the food preparation. I ordered from a very pleasant individual. When my order arrived I received a large order of chicken and a small container of white ice and a side of sweet and sour sauce. I have no idea why the order taker would think i wanted that much food. My first bite exploded with disappointment. The fried chicken tasted of old oil. My pet peeve. Change your oil! Quality retaurants change their oil on a regular basis. China Garden does not. I recommend you avoid this restaurant. read more

Decided to take a flyer at this restaurant a few weeks ago. I had driven by it a number of times rarely seeing many cars in their parking lot, often an indicator quality. Only one person was dining in and one other waiting for an order to go. Resisting an urge to leave, I was soon greeted cordially by the hostess who gave me time to plan my order to go. The order was well packed and didn't leak during the drive, a pleasant surprise. We found the food portions ample and very good tasting even after rewarming. No notion can be offered as to why this restaurant appears poorly attended. The premises are decently clean, the staff friendly and the food very good. How much more can one ask? Hopefully, they'll be able to remain in business for a long time. read more

I had eaten at this restaurant before with its two previous owners. It is a little different menu now. On the plus side, I was able to order a few minutes after closing time. The staff was super-friendly and my food arrived quickly. They seemed genuinely concerned that I should enjoy my meal. The ingredients were fresh and EXPERTLY cooked to perfection. The reason this rated less than five stars is because I am mostly vegetarian. The previous owner had an extensive menu selection for vegetarians and their fried tofu was better than any I have had almost anywhere (from San Francisco to New York). Now, there is one tofu option, hidden within vegetable side dishes. I had ordered one dish to be made extra-EXTRA spicy. I told the chef to not hold back, as I could handle whatever level he made. I was expecting 5 of 5 stars and got maybe 1 1/2 stars for a dish that was supposed to be spicy. If you are a meat-eater and looking for some tasty food, this is worth a visit. The chef was masterful with his treatment of vegetables. The food was not swimming in some unknown gravy and his judicious use of some fermented black beans was a masterstroke; it was so subtle but really appreciated. If you are a vegetarian, it may be better to look elsewhere beyond Delavan. I will go back again and just order some vegetables. I just updated my review. The kitchen is very willing to meet requests (even some things off-menu, once they know you). The ingredients are always fresh and cooked to perfection. Finally got good hot and sour soup. The places in Janesville serve gravy. Sushi was surprisingly good too.

The food was awesome! Tasty crispy on the General Taos chicken and the Singapore Mei fun plate was very tasty. I would recommend this place for a stop to eat in. I've notice a very large oversize steam table for their lunch Buffett, I'm going to return and try it out as well when I'm in town. They don't use chopsticks for the set up, but you get to eat comfortably by being able to eat your meal with a fork. read more

The reviews are all true. This place reinvented itself. It may not look much from the outside but this place blows yo-shi out of the water when it come to their sushi. Prices are expected for sushi, everything is amazingly fresh and well displayed. I'm glad I found a really good local place and now I don't have to drive to Kenosha or Janesville for decent sushi! Been eating here for 20 plus years... Been through a few owners but not impressed with the current. Very little food put out on their buffet. Could be cause there are not a lot of customers in there. My husband and son had the buffet and I ordered off the menu. My menu dinner was far better and fresher. They definitely need to redo the interior as well. Overall, we were satisfied with the food. My husband enjoyed the Happy Family and the Pepper Steak we ordered for my mother was very good. The Lo Mein and House Fried Rice were okay. My husband did not like the Spring Rolls because he thinks they contained too much cabbage. I thought the Crab Rangoon was very good but my husband thought they were too sweet. The big disappointment of the night was the General Tso's Chicken. I think it was the worst I've ever had. This dish was to be shared by my sister and I as it is our favorite and we were both disappointed. It was soft and mushy and while you could see peppers on it, there was not a drop of sauce! How do you make this dish without sauce? It makes you wonder what is going on in that kitchen. I've had frozen versions of this dish that tasted better and if you are a fan of General Tso's you know the frozen is never as good as what you get from a restaurant. Really enjoy eating here. The restaurant atmosphere isn't the snazziest, but it's homey and the waitstaff/family are always super friendly. I enjoy their food more than most Chinese I've had. Most locals prefer Moys in Elkhorn, but I prefer the Garden. The fried rice is the greasy kind that's filled with bean sprouts and egg instead of the white rice with carrots and peas tossed in for effect. I've never had a dish here I didn't like. I'm not a huge Egg Fu Yung fan, but their shrimp egg f.y. with brown gravy is fantastic. I crave it every few months. Don't let this unobtrusive restaurant go unnoticed! read more

Very upset that we have been ordering once or twice a week & never been told anything over 15 min. to pick up until today when I tried to order my husbands lunch that they messed up last week I have always given them last name & phone # to ensure he picks up correct order we always get 2 orders he was given an eggroll & fried rice then had to take it back & wait another 15 min. after they said it would be ready right away then got home with it & had no time left to eat it & what is sweet & sour chicken without the sauce & he gets white rice so very dry then they said today they weren't giving him the lunch again only a small order then have to wait 25 min. because they were very busy which was our fault again so when I told her I was never going to call them again she hung up on me so I guess losing a customer is worth saving $5.25 only gave them 1 star cause out of all our trips there this was the worst customer service never recomending or going back read more
