    Sesame Chicken Lunch Special

The new ownership is fabulous!!! They allowed us to dine in, and served in takeout containers. Really cute family who runs it, and they are very attentive and friendly! They served us delicious food for an outstanding price! I will easily get at least another full meal from leftovers of the $13 lunch special. Best Chinese in Estes!

We stayed in Estes Park for a week and this was definitely the top 3 memorable food joints we've been to. I can't understand why the local Thai place has better ratings than China Garden. We ordered the pork egg rolls, chicken and vegetables and Kung Pao beef. Evening was ready in 10 min and our order was not only accurate, but packaged neatly with every accompaniments you could ever need. Both of the dishes were loaded with vegetables; full of celery, zucchini, red and green bell peppers, bok choy, and snap peas. The medley of vegetables beautifully complimented the generous portions of meat. We were so happy to gain some redemption from all of the other just okay places we tried. Definitely recommended!

I'm going to preface this review by saying that I'd give China Garden a 4-star rating for food, and a 1-star rating for service. The service experience was so bad that it biases my review toward the 2-star rating it currently has. I'll start with the service: We called to order takeout at around 7:45pm one night while we were staying in Estes Park. The woman who was on the other end of the phone was very short with us, but took our orders, no problem, and told us that the food would be ready in half an hour. We went to pick up the food and found that there was only 1 car in the parking lot for the restaurant, and only 1 couple inside (not a great sign to start). We walked in and wanted to check over our order, and were quickly berated on coming in past when they had closed, and the woman kept yelling at us that she wasn't taking any more orders, since they had closed. Apparently the restaurant has changed their seasonal hours, and that change isn't reflected on Yelp or Google, so it showed that they were open until 9pm, when the seasonal hours were changed to 8pm. She kept trying to charge us for extra things, and we had to fight to even get forks and napkins included with our meal. To say the whole experience was a mess would be sugar coating it. Ultimately, if they didn't want to serve us at 8:15, they shouldn't have taken our order at 7:45 and told us to pick it up at 8:15. The only thing that even slightly made up for this horrendous experience was the fact that the food was pretty solid. All of the people in my party had no complaints about their food, and it's one of few random Chinese restaurants that we've encountered that we can actually say this about. If you feel that you can brave the bad service and really have a hankering for Chinese food, maybe give China Garden a shot. Otherwise, stay away!

    Very dirty inside and out

My family and I searched for a Chinese restaurant and came across this place. When we walked in, everyone was in the back and no one greeted us. The place was filthy but we decided to stick around and attempt to try the food out of sheer hunger. We sat down and mins later someone came out from the back kitchen to hand out menus. The following in this review will highlight my 1 star review. If I could give a zero star review, I would. Moment before the waitress delivers the menus, my son accidentally knocked over the soy sauce on the table.... when the waitress saw the very small spill, she began reprimanding my son and told him "why, you knock over sauce, don't do it again". Being taken back from her response I explained that it was an accident. She stated "I don't care l, don't do it again"... I told the lady that we were going to leave and she stated "that's fine, I don't care". I asked her what her deal was and she stated " you are the parents, you should watch the kids... if it was my kids, that wouldn't happen". That just pissed me off! I started to record the incident and was told by the waitress to f*ck off.

We enjoyed their orange chicken and the house special fried rice. The portions were large and piping hot.

Weird experience. All takeout - no menus offered other than the one taped to the front counter. Not a warm welcoming place.

We were in the mood for some warm, savory Thai food and this is the place to get it! Parking was pretty easy as they have a few spots neighboring the restaurant. We were quickly seated and our server was very prompt with waters and taking our order. I decided on the Tom yum soup with a mild spice level while J opted for the Pad Kee Mao with a high spice level. The soup was delicious and warm - helpful as I was getting over a cold and I found the spice level very manageable. The mushroom and shrimp were well cooked, plentiful and delicious. I had a good chunk of the pad kee mao as well - I loved the spice level here too. Just the right level to get your eyes watering but not out of control. The savory sauce was amazing and the noodles and chicken were very well cooked. We were one of a couple tables as we entered, but a few more joined while we were there. The sitting area is spacious and I could tell it might get busy later in the evening. All the staff were very helpful, prompt, and kind. Definitely give this place a try on your next visit to Estes Park!

If you're looking for a meal, not one I'd highly recommend. Appears to be a family-run operation, service is friendly and timely. Our disappointment was amplified as two review sites rated this restaurant the third best in town.

One of those places you want to give a 0 star review, but can't because it's not an option. If you know what Thai food is supposed to taste like, DO NOT COME HERE! Everything was the horrible, we got two different noodle dishes and the Tom Yum soup. First time visitor of Colorado and we stayed in the Longmont area to hike the Rockies. After a tough hike we were left with few dining options on a weeknight and this was one of the few non-chain restaurants open. It's so important to support small businesses, however this is not one of them!! While Julie was friendly when I was ordering, but things seemed a bit hectic when I went into get our meal. The restaurant doesn't have dine in options, but it was dirty and messy inside. Our meal took longer than expected but Julie was nice enough. After I paid and tipped, I was provided a box to carry out my items which included a soup. I was super careful but it's a disaster waiting to happen. By the time we arrived to our hotel and started eating we realized the food tasted off. The Tom Yum soup was one of the worst soups I have ever tasted. It was made with the absolute crappiest broth concentrate - not authentic and it tasted SO SO BAD. The fake sour taste and the strange sweetness was completed by old tasting mushrooms and uncooked cherry tomatoes. Whyyyy????? The noodle dishes we ordered were also awful! We got the Pad Kee Mao and the Pad See Ew. The Pad See Ew was inedible, every bite was worse than the last. The sauce was horrible and inauthentic (like a dollar store version of sweet & sour?), and the chicken has a strange chewy texture. It was completely indelible. The Pad Kee Mao was slightly better but the chicken seemed old and dry. We were able to muster about 4-5 bites. We barely ate any of the food - we ended up having leftover bread and a few apples for dinner. If you want decent food, just go anywhere else. My experience was all around horrible, and when I got ahold of the restaurant, I was unable to get a refund. Absolutely not worth the time, money and effort to eat this food. Honest rating is 0/5 stars.

My sweet and sour chicken was delicious, generous portions, lightly breaded, flavorful with thick sweet and sour sauce. The fried rice was fluffy and very possibly the among the best fried rice I remember. My friend also liked the sesame chicken which I sampled and can verify that it is very good.
