We were greeted with a smile and offered seating as soon as we stepped through the door. Our orders were taken in a timely manner by our friendly server. I ordered sweet and sour chicken, egg drop soup and fried rice which is a $ 1.00 upgrade from white rice. My friend ordered sesame chicken, hot and sour soup and white rice. My sweet and sour chicken was delicious, generous portions, lightly breaded, flavorful with thick sweet and sour sauce. The fried rice was fluffy and very possibly the among the best fried rice I remember. My friend also liked the sesame chicken which I sampled and can verify that it is very good. The service was efficient and friendly with just the right amount of interaction. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is clean, comfortable and laid out allowing for maximum seating while not feeling crowded.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The prices are fair for today's inflated dining environment. Our family had dinner here for the first time last week. The menu selection is extensive and we all shared some amazing food. Service was fast and friendly. It was so good that we have already returned twice for lunch. I highly recommend this restaurant if you like good Chinese food. read more

The service on take was okay. We purchased tofu w/garlic sauce, combination fried rice and Kung pao chicken. There is something missing, depth of flavor. The broccoli had it, but nothing else. meh this place was ight. so im down in colorado visiting my uncle. originally from cali. but thats besides the point. food here wasn't terrible but it was alright. for some reason, most of the dim sum dishes that we ordered were like room temp/cold for some reason bruh. like nun of it was really fresh like dat. but they fosho had potential tho bc the taste of the dishes were not too shabby at all. but i gotta say, the cheung fun noodle could've been a lil thinner man. a lil too thick here man, leading to an imbalance in shrimp to wrapper ratio. chicken feet could've been more tender as well. they're also sweeter here compared to what ive had in cali which was a lil different. we also got the lobster too and ngl i wasn't rly fw how it was flavored. idk just not my cup of tea. but yeah. everything else was pretty solid tho. read more

Yes I love this place! They probably know too because I'm a regular, my landlord and I like going there, even better after I pay my rent because then he buys dinner! Usually do the lunch special because it's cheaper! Now they know my favorite and I don't even have to basically, they will ask always they don't have a problem adding or taking away something if you don't like it or if you want something different! For the most part, the food had good flavor. However, they seem to skimp on some things. Example: They charge extra for fried rice. It was literally white rice with soy sauce and was bland; there was no egg or vegetables in it. Also, most anywhere else I go, there are veggies in the sesame chicken; not here. We got takeout here. I had cashew shrimp with fried rice. The cashew shrimp was very good, and I tried a few other things, like the crab Rangoon and egg drop soup, which were tasty. The fried rice was bland and didn't have any vegetables, so I wouldn't order that again. I am always to try more chinese food and the Sun Cafe did not disappoint. I went here based on other Yelp recommendations and once again I was steered in the right direction. I ordered the Mongolian Beef, one of my go to favs, and it was delicious. It has the right amount of heat ( no to spicy) and the beef was tender and succulent. Food was amazing, orange chicken was nice and crunchy with not too much breading, rice was perfect, one of the best and only genuine authentic Chinese restaurants around Longmont. Tired of all the fusion places as someone who grew up around authentic quality food. Oh and lastly with the amount you get in portions and all the people whining about the price, did you just dump your food there or actually take it home? $15 for 3 meals is a steal in 2025. Based on reviews, this is one of the best Chinese food places in Longmont...and it did not disappoint. We got pork lo mein, orange chicken, chicken fried rice. beef broccoli, and white rice. Each entree was excellent, with well-cooked proteins and crisp vegetables. The orange chicken, which came with bits of actual orange in it, was one of the best I've ever had. Service was via an online website on which we set our pick up time. Since this was Christmas Eve, I wasn't surprised that we had to wait an extra five minutes or so (especially with all the other customers doing the same). Will go again in the future! read more

Went today and ordered to go food. Boy what a difference. The last 2 times I was there I ate inside and it was good. This time the sweet and sour chicken tasted like old oil that was used. The chicken was dry and tough and the coating of the chicken was hard as hell. I think that they don't take as much for the to go orders by maybe using up old chicken and reusing oil to deep fry. I will never order to go from them again. My son said the lemon chicken was ok. I feel like I paid too for this terrible food. adding for mistake. Always on the lookout for a great Chinese place and my experience was a very mixed bag. What was good: The sweet and sour chicken was the best of the order: fresh pineapple and green peppers. The sweet and sour sauce was homemade and pretty good (could have had more sour, less red dye #5). The cheese rangoons were great as were the fried noodles. I do wish they had a duck sauce but I asked for it and did not receive it. Not so good: The spring rolls were super disappointing. They were a rice wrapper, small shrimp and noodles, that was it. There was lettuce used as a garnish, but I am used to these being a protein, noodles, lettuce, carrots, mint (or something like that). Not having anything but noodles and the protein just didn't do it for me. Generally I use all the sauce I am provided, but the peanut sauce was creamy and sweet and extremely off putting, it got tossed. The pad thai tasted like sugar, not many other flavors or heat. There was egg, and crumbled peanuts, but that seemed to be all that was in the dish. This dish got trashed as well as no one could stomach it. The drunken noodles were ok, the flavor was very different from other versions I have had, but it was eaten and not trashed. There was almost nothing more than noodles and chicken in the dish and two types of noodles (I am used to the large flat noodles, it was a mix of these and spaghetti like noodles). Overall it seems like this place will be great for some things but not other, I was personally disappointed. read more

Driven by 100 times, but first time diner. The food was delicious. My daughter had the pad Thai with chicken and I had the panang curry with beef. The quality of meat in both dishes was very high as was the flavor. We will definitely be back. The dining room was only about 25% full, but they do a lot of carry out business. I ordered 3 house dinners. each comes with a soup, rice, egg roll and cheese wonton with your choice of entree. I spent $60.88 for all three meals. The sesame chicken is incredibly sweet, on par with a donut, the breading is extra sweet and crisp. The orange chicken is twice as sweet as the sesame chicken with a soft pillowy crust, The Jalapeño beef is mildly sweet with no heat. The orange chicken and beef have a symbol to notate spice, but the sugar over rides any heat. If you like spicy, Oder your meal 2 or 3 times spicy, as everything is overly sweetened. The hot and sour soup was bland, I added chili oil and rice vinegar to give it heat and sour. The panda mustard also has no spice. The egg roll, cheese wonton and egg drop soup were all good. The amount of food I received was worth the money, but everything was so sweet It ruined the experience for me. read more

The food is on point with huge portions (enough leftovers for two meals each easily) and it's pretty affordable. We each got the House Dinner which comes with soup, 2 rangoons, an egg roll, rice, and your choice of dish for $16.95. We had the Orange Chicken and Beef & Broccoli.
