I was finally able to drag David to Ginger Bistro. The food was so good that I forgot to take pictures except for the chicken hot snd sour soup! Luckily enough I think we ate the same things as my last review. David had the Mongolian Beef that came with Jasmine Rice and the Chicken Hot and Sour Soup. I had to have some dim sum and of course he partook in some of that. The glutinous rice rolls with chicken are fabulous and wrapped in a leaf. The shrimp stuffed eggplant and then a dumpling with pork and shrimp. I also ordered the lettuce roll ups which are delicious and filled with pork and veggies. Moved here from the SF Bay Area, so we know dim sum! Ginger Bistro's Dim Sum menu is not as expansive as the left coast but what they offer is outstanding. The stuffed eggplant is the best I've had! House chili oil is also top notch! Service is on par, you never wait too long for your server to stop by. They always have a smile on their faces. Shout out to Vivian! Was super shocked to see a sit-down Chinese restaurant over on this side of town. Prices are average (everything is expensive now and it's just the "norm") Portions are also average. The food was not bad, could be hotter.. I was excited to try the dim sum sampler platter but I was disappointed. I could tell it was frozen for awhile cause it had that taste. The fried rice and the roast pork were good. Calamari was also okay. For a normal individual that has never had authentic would say this place is fantastic. But because I've had authentic, I will say this place is Just Okay. It did its job but I was not that satisfied. To me, this place is mediocre at best. Would I come back? Saturday for lunch- we are tired of ordinary & we both agreed Dim Sum Ginger Bistro (Surfside) or Ginger Dim Sum (Port Charlotte) were our familiar choices. The cuisine here has always been good. Lots of choices in a pleasant atmosphere. Today I selected Mongolian beef (delicious) with jasmine rice while Judy selected (steamed) ribs, eggplant/shrimp and glutinous rice with chicken and vegetables (her favorite). The Mongolian beef was YUMM. SPICY and SWEET that I needed two glasses of water to quench. Great lingering after taste that is satisfaction. Makenna was our server and right there when we needed counsel or a straw. Good job. Ginger Bistro is pleasant dining in all ways. I few negatives- no WiFi, the rice serving was extra and small. Mom likes her udon noodles and so we traveled here for that. Ginger Bistro is definitely on the fancier end of things and we had a very pleasant early dinner. A chicken stir fry with udon for mom and she ate the whole thing, declaring it delicious. It did look good to me! For my dinner, I chose the two meat combo platter, enjoying a quarter of duck and the barbecue pork. It was very good duck considering we're in Florida and not China. This was my husband's and my first time visiting this restaurant, and unfortunately, the service left a very poor disrespectful first impression. Makes sense why there in a shitty plaza disguising the inside as some fancy BS. When we walked in, none of the three employees AT THE FRONT greeted or acknowledged us. After standing there for a moment, I finally said, "oh Hello" in such a normal polite tone. No sass or sarcasm, hoping someone would respond. No one did, we picked up a paper menu ourselves to look prior to deciding to stay. I asked a question about one of the menu items. The employee immediately got so noticeably upset and irritated to the point of correcting me with such sassy attitude saying that they are Chinese cuisine, not Japanese. First off, go shove that up your a**. Second,I didn't even fucking know that what I was asking for was Japanese, I rarely eat this shit. So, simple mistake. Maybe learn that it's okay for people to not know. Third, the restaurant is called "Ginger Bistro," that says nothing. Mentions nothing that made the cuisine immediately obvious to us that it was fucking Chinese, dumba**. Despite the uncomfortable start, my husband suggested we give the food a chance. We ended up ASKING to be seated without anyone speaking to us because we agreed to stay out loud. We ended up getting walked and seated. When our server arrived, there was no greeting or introduction--she simply just spawned after a while of sitting and just asked what we wanted to drink. No hello, hi, my names blank how are you etc etc. just "what do you want to drink" We end up ordering the passion fruit ginger ale and the pomegranate ginger ale drink. Since it had taken a while for someone to come to our table, we asked if we could place our entire order at that time. She acknowledged us briefly and walked away. When the drinks arrived, we noticed they contained turmeric, which was never mentioned on the menu or by our server. That seems like important information, especially since some people may have allergies or dietary restrictions. Unfortunately, neither drink was to our taste. After only a couple of sips, I politely asked if we could replace them with cokes. Our server gave us a stankkkkk a** face, walked away after listening and brought the Cokes, and walked away without saying anything. The restaurant serves only bottled beverages rather than refillable fountain drinks. It was clear from both our table and the restaurant's cameras if they wanna go look, that we barely touched the original drinks before requesting replacements. Throughout the rest of our meal, our server never checked on us to see how everything was or whether we needed anything. The food itself was very good. However, the service was consistently so fucking rude. From the moment we walked in until the moment we left absolutely shitty service. Even the people sitting next to us seemed to be having an unpleasant time as well. My husband and I remained polite and respectful throughout our visit, so we were genuinely confused by the attitude we received. To make matters worse, when the bill arrived, we had been charged for all four drink, the two original drinks we only took 2 sips on. One from the bottle and the second in the glass to see if the ice can help water the flavor down. We got charged for the two Cokes we ordered afterward and the other 2. That was just fucking stupid. Go check your damn cameras, you simply don't do that. Good, understandable service you don't do that. Fuck them, fuck you I hope you see this. The overall experience, 0.5/10, and we will not be returning. There are plenty of restaurants that offer great food along with welcoming and respectful service. read more

On my visit 2 weeks ago, food was good but I had some concerns about how they handled my giftcard. I gave the waitress a couple gift cards when we got the bill. She came back and said one of the gift cards did not have anything on it. After we paid, my husband asked the waitress for the gift card in question. She got the gift card from the shelf and handed it back to my husband. The following day I stopped at the Fort Myers location to check the balance of the gift card and I was told that there is $25 on it. I truely think that the waitress should have checked with her manager if she did not know how to check the gift card balance or at least return the gift card that she claimed it has nothing on it instead of holding onto it. Before moving to Cape Coral, I was concerned that I would not find a good Chinese restaurant, until I came cross Ginger Bistro. I am very happy now, the food here is very authentic Cantonese food. Dim Sum is 100% authentic, and come out burning hot! the stuffed eggplant is probably the best I have ever had. We also love their home made hot sauce. Service is generally good. Ambience doesn't factor in to my assessment of Chinese restaurants. My favorite haunts in NY's Chinatown are hole-in-the-walls. Same with Buford Highway in Atlanta. With that said, Ginger Bistro is nicely appointed. Uh oh. Will that override the authenticity of the restaurant?! You be the judge. Ginger Bistro ranks high amongst the Chinese restaurants we've found in SWFL. But it's not without fault. Entrees could be bigger. And really -- how much does a twenty pound bag of rice cost? Surely a simple bowl of steamed rice can be provided gratis, as it is elsewhere. Charging $1.25 for an ice cream-sized scoop, is chintzy. Here's what we ordered: -- Thai coconut chicken soup. It's delicious! Though I didn't see lemon grass, the flavor peeks through. One bowl is enough to feed three adults. -- Cashew shrimp. Garlic oyster sauce packs punch. Neither vegetables nor shrimp are overcooked. Good job! -- Roast pork with mixed vegetables. Normally served with brown sauce, I asked for white, which worked well. I wasn't thrilled with the pork. Served in chunks and overly fatty, this is a one time deal for me. Vegetables however, were fresh and crisp. I was impressed with the diversity of the menu including items not typical of suburban restaurants. We noticed that a good number of patrons are Asian -- a good sign, in a Chinese restaurant. Service, by the way, was fine. The woman taking our order and checking in, was friendly and helpful. In contrast, the person who brought our food to the table was scowling and abrupt. DINE OUT - TAKE OUT but do NOT dine in until they get management here. I am so disappointed! I refer this restaurant to hundreds of people here on vacation but I always do @take out"....Tonight we dined in...the service was terrible. There were 3-5 young girls serving tables and they all look lost to terrified. They were literally congregating in this room outside of the kitchen door. There is more than one table, waiting to just get a drink order in. Others that had food were standing up and going to the hostess to get additional things ordered. There was a table of nine and they were so upset. They had one person serving them who literally took one order at a time and we'll go get their drink and then come back and get another drink order. I've never seen anything like it. We waited 20min for someone to give us water until my husband finally went to the hostess since I can be a service here. And there was a guy behind him asking for the same thing. There were literally 5 tables to serve and 2 untouched. The hostage was inundated. She was good running around, trying to help plus answering the phones and doing takeout orders. I think she could maybe dress a little better. She looks like she just came from the beach. But her service was great. I'm just so disappointed because I referred this place so many people and now I feel like I have failed them. I haven't been to ginger bistro in so long, I always want to come on a Tuesday but they're closed Tuesdays. I finally made it to them on a weekend and I was so excited! It was pretty busy that's night but we didn't have to wait! I went with my two friends and we all ordered appetizers. Me and one friend got gyoza and another calamari. The gyoza come out super fast and we both enjoyed our apps! However the only bad thing about this experience was that my other friends calamari didn't come out until right before the food. The entree came out soon the last app came and we were all very satisfied with the meals! Our server was nice and was attentive when needed to be. One and done! Food: the soup dumplings were the only good part about this place. My Mango chicken dish had undercooked mangos and peppers and so I returned the dish and got the fake pho. I call it that because this was a "spicy" salty soup base with thick egg noodles...along with 3 tiny chunks of tofu, Publix shredded lettuce, and cabbage. Service: lets start with my drink order. I wanted the lychee martini. Viviana starts to make my drink than asks me if not having pineapple was ok. To my shagrin...turns out there is no pineapple in a lychee martini. But not knowing this myself (I don't know each restaurant puts their own spin on things) I ordered a $6 180ml cold sake. My appetizer: i was warned after the fact that dumplings take longer than usual...not before hand. Thus my app came out with my overcooked Mango. Oh lets not forget about...(and attached picture below) my water was NEVER refilled. That timer was started from the last drop of water from my first glass. I guarantee you that if I had sat a table...my water would have been instantly refilled. Why should sitting Bar top make a difference? Ambiance: not much to say here. Busy. I think there's better concept restaurants than this in Southwest Florida. It seems like they have a healthy takeout business, but are set up for dining in with a really pretty restaurant. But it is severely understaffed, the staff themselves don't seem like they're motivated or wished to be there.Not a smile was given the entire time. I ordered online and had my food delivered. The website was misleading. It said for an additional amount you could get jasmine rice or brown rice. Thinking that these were special rice choices and that the meal should come with plain white sticky rice. It came with no rice at all. Not even any soy sauce or even a stupid fortune cookie! We had been here back in 2020 and it was great. Unfortunately in Mar of 2025 our expectations weren't met. The service was slow and the server did not communicate well (English primary language). We waited a very long time for our food. Eventually the server said that the cook "lost a burner" and our meals would be delayed. When the food came the lo mein was dried out, the egg rolls looked like spring rolls, and one of the meals was incorrect. As we had waited a long time we just ate what was given. It was a Wed evening and they were not busy. The inside of the restaurant is nice, clean and well lit. Plates and utensils were clean. Service was superb! We had Addie as a server and she was on it! We had a group of 6 and ordered a LOT of different dishes, a few with special requests, and everything came out wonderfully. We especially like the roasted duck (get here early - when they sell out, they're out), salt & pepper tofu, seaweed salad, spicy eggplant and garlic, thin roasted pork, and the beef chow fun. Our other dishes were very good but not as delicious as the ones above. This is our second time to eat here and it was consistent with our first visit. I think we may have a candidate for our go to Chinese. While they weren't open for dine in just yet, they were available for take out. So we did! I was initially put off because they are a little pricy, but at this point, I am now happy to find good Chinese. We started with some appetizers. First we had their spring rolls. Perfectly fried. So good. Next up was their pot stickers. Also very good, but I felt they were overpriced. Then we had their tofu app. Again, winner. Creamy and crispy so good. Good with duck sauce, their soy sauce, or the sweet chili sauce. Yummers. The wife, our resident Kung Pao expert, ordered theirs. She says it's a 5. I thought it had a bit too much celery for my taste. The spiciness was spot on. Good flavor and lots of peanuts. I had the beef in pepper sauce. This was also very good. The beef was tender. The veggies were a little undercooked, but the sauce was nice. Overall, excellent. I think the food to value is off, but again, based on the other Chinese around here, this was the best so far. I go to Ginger Bistro Saturdays after working out at ANYTIME FITNESS 2 doors down. Beautiful upscale atmosphere with Friendly excellent service above and beyond-I took a friend and we had 2 dim sum, 3 beers, and 2 entrees- total before tip: $53. The menu is comprehensive. The chef is clearly an expert- it's not normal Chinese like every Chinese carry out in a Publix plaza- its more like hand crafted gourmet- The DIM SUM service stops at 3:00pm; go at least by 2 because you'll order a couple and then order more as you realize your whole dinner can come from this menu.
