My wife got the chicken wing and fried rice combo and I got fried wantons. The chicken was done really well and the fried rice was perfect. Fried wantons can be hit or miss, some making it too fried and crispy where it hurts my mouth or soft and tender where I don't know where the wanton ends and the meat begins. I prefer the latter and I have to say it was perfect. Since it's located on Broadway street, it didn't have that takeout feel I'm used to being from DC and looked more like a regular sit down restaurant. Came here from out of town and our first stop was at this place. We ordered vegetable eggrolls and an order of general tao chicken with french fries. Eggrolls were good but the general tao didn't taste like general tao chicken. The sauce was a totally different sauce then I have ever tasted and not good. The price was good but honestly didn't finish dinner plate. The restaurant seemed quite and nicely spaced out. Bathroom was clean. However, I would not go back to this establishment again. I went to use the bathroom after paying for my order and while I was in the bathroom the male staff worker who took my order was about to key into the bathroom. Luckily my husband stopped him from keying in. The worker tried to justify his act by stating the water from the sink was running too long. Small restaurant with very limited seating. Most tables are only meant for groups of 2 or 4. Depending on how busy they are, they may accommodate more. While we dined in, they were able to put to center tables together for a party of 9. First come first served. No reservations. Inside is outdated. There are single bathrooms for men and women. Only customers can use the restrooms. Food was not good. I'm only giving it a 2 since one person in our party didn't complain about the food. I ordered the pint of chicken fried rice; they bring out a plate with your meal on it. I was planning on taking food back to the hotel for later but the portions are not what's listed on the menu. You pay for a pint (smallest option) and it's a scoop of said item. The restaurant is def making money on only giving you a fraction of what you paid for. The food was overly oily. The chicken in the fried rice was rubbery and seemed under cooked. I did not eat it. We also ordered sweet and sour chicken which was okay but it tasted as though the deep fry oil should be changed. It was my first time here but I've been wanting to try it. I ordered crab Rangoon as an appetizer and enjoyed it. The appetizer was crispy and I liked the red-orange sauce that was served with it. Would definitely order that again. My lunch was shrimp w cashews, and wasn't particularly fond of it. This was in a brown sauce and was pretty mediocre. It didn't have fresh broccoli or carrots like I was expecting- lots of water chestnuts, mushrooms and bamboo shoots- I wouldn't order it again. The general Tso was delicious and a heaping portion. Didn't have the opportunity to post some pictures because the food was so good! The food was done and ready fast and quick! I ended up getting the pepper steak and onion, to which turns out it was not black cracked pepper. However, it was Bell peppers. And I seldomly enjoy those as well. They gave me so much rice. I ended up getting the Chow mein, when in reality I should have gotten the lo mein, because those are the ones with noodles. They gave me some fried noodles on the side as well. Very tasty! In addition, I also purchased the garlic chicken and vegetables. Perfectly seasoned. I will go again! The ambiance was peaceful and very quiet. I used to come here on business trips in Jim Thorpe. It was the only place nearby my hotel that wasn't a deli and was open. The food was a bit different from the fast food Chinese joints that I'm used to on the west coast but still very delicious. I would come in the evenings and there would always be a lady there with her small son. Appears to be a family owned and operated business. The family was always very warm and the food was great. They offer a good variety of familiar/Americanized dishes. All plates hot and as fresh as you can get from a Chinese fast food restaurant. I came here around 6pm on a Friday evening to order food and take home to eat it. The service was great. It was easy to order. There were other people coming in to place orders and pick up food. Despite people coming in our food did come out within a decent amount of time. I had gotten the sesame chicken combination plate. The day we visited Jim Thorpe we had eaten a late lunch and decided to skip dinner and just have ice cream for "dinner". We walked up and down Broadway for hours shopping, exploring and on a walking tour. We passed by this restaurant several times and it smelled so good. I just ordered here while visiting my mother. I have ordered here before and it was delicious! Although this time it was absolutely horrific. As we all started eating the food, we realized there was no sauce on our ho fun special, it was dry as fuck. There was chicken in all the orders, & it had a terrifying Oder to it. We realized after eating some it was bad/ undercooked or expired chicken. Even blood in the chicken wings. Lady tried telling me since we bit a little of it she was not gonna refund. It's the only Chinese restaurant place in town, I wish they would greatly up their game but with no direct competition don't expect much. I ordered the hot and spicy beef, and double cooked pork. Both meals were the same - same sauce, same flavor, low quality, bland, a little sweet, not spicy, and inauthentic. The only real difference between the meals is that in the beef you get yellow rice for the side, while in the pork you get white rice. The beef stir fry had onions and peppers, the pork had baby corn and cabbage. The beef cuts were very cheap and tasteless. The double cooked pork was not double cook pork, which should be thinly sliced pieces like bacon, it was the typical Cantonese style red tipped pork. I'd say the meals tasted like they came from a frozen bag and were not at all fresh. I gave two stars instead of just one because the owners are very friendly even though the food was a disappointment, at least compared to anything you could get from Chinatown or in China. Usually, I love this as a lunch spot. My last few visits have been fine, but nothing to write home about. However, I placed an order for take-out the other day for a couple of quarts of wonton soup and the wontons were filled with less than an ounce of meat for a WHOLE lot of wonton. The dough they use can fit in the palm of my hand, but I took a bite out of one and noticed there barest amount of filling. I understand conserving resources, but it was an outrageously small portion of filling. I also found a scrap of a steel wool sponge in my broth (at least it's good to know that they clean their pots) but I was turned off from eating after that.
