Horrible. No flavor. Worst Chinese food. Will never eat here again.. fried rice was dry no flavor , orange chicken plain , also seemed to be microwaved. Do not recommend eating here. You're Better off spending your money at Panda Express.

My husband and I have been craving Chinese food and this establishment is near our home. We stopped in for an early dinner. We had to go to the restroom first. Afterwards I almost had my husband take me elsewhere. The light switch is very dirty. The tiles and floor are in disrepair. I couldn't get hot water out of the faucet to wash my hands. We ended up going ahead and trying them out. We got dinner #B hot and sour soup, orange chicken, shrimp LoMain , egg rolls , cheese wonton and fried shrimp. The soup had a weird aftertaste I could not figure out what so I didn't eat any more my husband felt the same way so we left it behind. The eggrolls and fried shrimp had like an old oil taste to them. The cheese wontons were very good. We could have eaten more of them. The main course came with fried rice and all of that was very good. The restaurant itself was inviting , had beautiful chandeliers, and decor. The tables were clean and nice. The server was quick and efficient.

LOL. How true.

China Garden has gone through many iterations over the years, but the food is good. Clearly this is a small family run operation, with the hostess up front, who also doubled as our server and also runs to the kitchen to get the Take-Out, while answering the phones. She easily put on 5K in steps, while we were sitting here. It was just incredible to watch. But the key here is the food and to a lesser extent the service. Some of the reviewers seem to miss that and took exception to this incredibly hard working owner. We went with the Fried Pork Dumplings, Chicken Cashew and General Tso's Chicken (photos). The General was clearly the best. The surprise was the gift of some Egg Drop Soup, which came with our meal. Nice!! Three and a Half Stars "A-Okay", rounded up to Four Stars. Spicy 13. Crispy Beef Hot Sauce amazing

We came in for lunch around 2pm today and were Sat immediately. Ordered 2 lunch specials that came with egg drop soup for 7.95 which is more than reasonable. The food was so fresh and amazing we were truly blown away. The crispy beef was so tender and my husbands general chicken tsaos chicken was crispy and yummy too. The inside was calm, not hectic at all and seating options for boothes or tables. Oh the little crispy noodles they bring you for free in the beginning are so very yummy - thank you

This place has been on and off my radar now for the entire 18 months I have lived so close. A new Thai and a new Korean place recently opened in the same downtown area, and I haven't been compelled to try either of them yet as well. Hungry and heavy rain lured me in even though I had a big bag of fresh groceries, and I can cook like the wind. I really just wanted a big bowl of hot and sour soup but opted for a combination appetizer platter. Fried shrimp, Egg rolls, Paper chicken, Crab ragoons and both steak and chicken skewers served in a large sectioned out wood serving bowl with a flaming cauldron in the center. It wasn't bad, and that beat expectations. I would have liked more sweet n sour sauce over the larger than necessary brown sauce. The place isn't much to look at as the hostess desk is basically a box with glass and stuff everywhere, the dining room ultra-bright and the tables sparsely topped. Service was nonexistent, a gesture to sit where I liked, a quick order, and food unceremoniously dropped at the table until the end when my server came out into the rain and called out to me because I had left something behind. Pro move and let me to believe the service thing was more of a language thing. Would I go back- probably and sooner than the 18 months it took for my first try.

1. Egg Roll
Tania T.

We ordered egg rolls, Orange Chicken, and black pepper beef. The order came with fried rice. I called in the order for delivery. The service is what you expect in any chinese restaurant. Lol, non existant basically, but that's normal. For a restaurant, the quality of the food is what you expect from a takeout, not restaurants. The best thing about our order was the crispy egg rolls. The orange chicken wasn't crispy, and some pieces were really dry. The black pepper beef looked promising, but once we dig in, we find a lot more onions than beef. And this was a chef's specialty. The fried rice was good with both items. Can't say much about the ambiance of the place since we had the order to go. We may try other items, but we'll see.

Pan-fried Noodles! A classic!
Michael A.

I just want to preface this by saying I do have quite a bit of bias towards this place since I used to have lunch here quite often when I was younger. This place used to have a massive silver arowana tank which was amazing for a kid my age, but it has changed ownership a few times since then. What I can say is that the pan fried noodles are still absolutely amazing. I want to mention that this is less of a bistro restaurant, and more of a home-style flavor, so don't expect any incredibly powerful flavors, instead, enjoy the subtlety and nuance. If you sit down to dine, and they have been doing this for over twenty years now, you get a complimentary bowl of egg-drop soup and these little crispy noodles with a sweet sauce.

China Garden is in our neighborhood. We been there numerous times for take out. The food is always tasty and plenty for two people. The owners are always very nice. We will certainly go back for more.

It's been great going here for the last year, the food was awesome and I enjoyed the tonkotsu shio with a side of California rolls. Also unresponsive to phone calls. The parent company has been having financial issues. Sad to see it go, I hope that's not the case.

My 1st time at Yoshiharu Ramen. So far, I haven't found it. Typically I order Bento Box Combinations, and sometimes specialty rolls. Sushi is a matter of personal taste, and I gave Yoshiharu Ramen a three overall for "OKAY". Don't get me wrong, I ate everything they served me, and it was all right. It just didn't WOW me. The restaurant is clean and looks nice. The service was good and my food was okay. There were a few minor things that annoyed me, but isn't it the little things that differentiate places that are great versus ones that are just good or okay? I ordered a diet coke, and they had no diet available. The miso soup (not pictured) that came with the meal was piping hot, but the flavor was not as good as others I have had. When they brought my chicken bento box, which included California Roll, there was no wasabi or ginger. I had to ask the waitress for wasabi, and then she said, "You want wasabi?" as if that was something unusual. Finally, my favorite sushi places have a list of items to choose from for their bento box. They may list 8 or 10 items and ask you to pick 2 or 3. At my other places I might choose, chicken and beef and a spicy tuna roll (vs California roll). Then you get those plus the soup, salad, etc. At Yoshiharu Ramen, it is a set list of items. You only get to pick a meat in the bento box (chicken, beef, pork, shrimp, etc.) Their other sushi or ramen may be terrific. So if you are nearby and want sushi or ramen, don't let me dissuade you. The reason I take the time to write a detailed review is so readers can understand MY criteria and why for me, this restaurant is okay, just not a 4 or 5 on my chart.

It would be good to have some clear directions on the website regarding the location. Inside the restaurant was clean and pleasant. I was immediately greeted when I entered and the order was ready so there was no wait. The 2-star rating is due to the food and the price of the food, as well as the plating of the food. We ordered an order of yellow curry with white rice and the spicy Thai basil chicken with white rice. Both were ordered as entrees and were $17 each. The curry was delicious and portion was as expected. The Thai basil chicken dish left a lot to be desired. Not only was it plated together (like a lunch portion option), but for what was provided, we expected to get more for the price. They combined the Thai basil chicken and the rice in the same dish along with a few cucumbers and there just wasn't much in the container. In addition, because they plated the rice with the chicken, all of the sauce from the chicken was soaked up by the rice, which in turn made the chicken seem extremely dry. We have ordered this same dish from various places from San Diego to Riverside and have never had the rice automaticalllu combined with the chicken. Based on what was provided, the cost should have been around $10 or similar to a lunch special since that is basically what was provided. Pic shows the combined bowl minus the two cucumber slices that were there as a filler. And the rice moved around to look for any extra juice.

The food feels like a home cook meal and I was told from Northern India province. This was definitely not an Americanized India fusion nor anything served in any India California buffets and definitely a level above it. ========= Tandoori are served on Sizzling Platters and placed on top of sauté vegetables (onion, bell peppers with spices) that are pre-marinated for hours. A lemon wedge is provided to squeeze additional citrus flavoring to the meats. The spices in the tandoori meats were well embedded that I could smell/taste the spices hours after eating as well as the next day upon reheating leftovers. 21. LAMB CHOPS (RACK OF LAMB / 5 PCS) Pre-marinated lamb with each leg cut and blacken char in the clay oven. It was cooked to well so a bit dry/over done for me. However, I was told the meats can be cooked to any wellness a customer prefer. If you want medium make sure to specify upon ordering. It came with a paste made from fresh mint/cilantro to help with gamey taste associated with lamb. 16. CHICKEN TANDOORI Bone in chicken thigh/drumsticks pre-marinated with spices. Additional hot spice paste can be requested, but I ask to put on the side. It was cooked well done, so could be juicer if cooked less. A side of marsala could also help with the dryness of the meat. ========= Boneless cubed meat are slow braised in India spice sauces: 61. LAMB ROGAN JOSH ** Delicious in flavoring ** Braised cube boneless lamb in a stewed tomato sauce filled with India aromatic spices (onion, garlic, India spices: black cardamom, cumin, cloves, etc). It's similar to saltness of a rustic tomato cacciatore sauce but w/ India spices. 60. LAMB KORMA Wanting to compare it to Al-Noor (Pakistan) in Inglewood is Spicy, Salty, Tangy, the taste was a total opposite to a Sweet Floral Nutty and Creamy (Himalayan is India). In the usa, most restaurants are called India to make it simple for non-India customers. The flavor is different because these are two different cultures/regions but use the same name Lamb Korma. Although I could taste the cashews, it was more bland in comparison to the Rogan Josh and other Korma I've tried elsewhere. I did not add additional hot spice. All the sauces come in the same dish and fits in a 24oz plastic container including the rice. Meats are cubed and seem to be about 4 oz of meat on my 1st visit. ============ Garlic Naan is at ala carte prices and not complimentary. It had garlic with cilantro flakes. It was OK but not as buttery as Al Noor. However, this restaurant's Basmati rice had more flavor than the Naan to go well with their dishes/tandoori. Restaurant is small café style, it's can hold a party of 6 per table. Bottle wine or glass is available to purchase besides beer and soda. It does get busy after 5pm and parking does get tight since it shares it with other eating establishment. For quieter setting, go before the dinner crowd. Staff is friendly and nice. During my visit, many of patrons (are not India) and happy/eager to experience a place with exposure to dishes that provided different blend of spices. Service/experience and attentiveness was much better the 2nd time around that I look forward to trying a new dish on my next visit.

There isn't a formal greeter, but someone seated us right away, and our server was patient, knowledgeable, and happy to walk us through the menu since it was our first time trying several items. The food came out surprisingly fast, even with a busy dining room. The atmosphere, however, needs improvement. The decor is nice and the vibe is relaxed, but the cleanliness and comfort were lacking. The booth seating wasn't very comfortable, and the biggest issue was the strong lingering sewage/garbage smell in the dining area likely from the kitchen and restroom due to the small building. Honestly, if I hadn't been with a group, I probably would have opted for takeout, as the smell was pretty noticible. For the price, the value is fair. The lunch specials are a good deal, though the in‑store price for the two‑roll sushi deal is different from the online price. In the end, the sushi is good enough that I'll keep coming back, but at least for myslef until the smell issue is fixed, I'll stick to pickup instead of dining in.
