Ordered takeout this evening. Got really good ribs and lemon chicken. I also ordered Pad Thai for myself. There were not Pad Thai noodles, just regular round noodes they use for their other dishes. It did not taste like Pad Thai and pretty much had no taste at all. I called and asked for my money back for that dish and they said that they would do that. I will follow up if they do not. We used to eat here quite a lot - at least 2x a month, but then their prices increased too high over the last few years. They don't offer any lunch specials for online ordering delivery. Currently to dine in you must be willing to spend $15-25 with mostly all chicken dishes in the $17-19 range. I understand food costs have increased in the last three years, but salaries have not. The food here has always been "just ok" enough to eat their food, but for the current prices we have permanently taken this establishment off our list of regular places we eat, and its very close to our house. I wish restaurants would understand that they really need to find a better balance between all their costs and the reality of every day families trying to afford food. Eating out is a luxury, but when the quality is low and the price is too high it just makes it impossible to enjoy this "luxury" to be a regular customer of this establishment. read more

We were recommended here by some friends who said that this is the only place they go to for Chinese food. So we wandered up here on a weekday For some dinner. The ambience is really nice it's a little bit different and how you order. You walk up to the counter to order from a white de variety of choices, and then you're given a number to put on your table and your food is served to you along with any drinks. First and foremost, the portions are huge. We have been eating Leftovers for days. We ordered sesame chicken and sweet-and-sour chicken, moo goo gai pan, and lo mein. Everything was very good As expected. The only thing I didn't like, is having no service. We did have servers bring food out and drinks out but the rest of it if you wanted to get a refill you had to go in and ask for a one. I don't mind doing this the problem is only 50% of the time did we get service. So it was a little disappointing to not be able to have drinks when we ordered them. Otherwise this place is a great place to go and it also has a nice patio which was perfect for us because we had our grandkids along and they were running around, and since we had the patio to herself on a weeknight we weren't bothering anybody. read more

This is my fav place for a nice lunch. The place is under a huge tree and theres peace and quite around. I love to look outside the window and dig into my warm meal with amazing conversations. We are vegetarians and love the options here. The menu clearly says to ask them to skip chicken stock in vegan and veggie dishes. The staff is really kind and they always let us know if there was something non vegan in the dishes. When I ordered Singapore rice noodles - and asked for no meat and no chicken stock - they let us know it had egg too - which we had skipped. Some of the dishes we have tried and are "go-back-and-eat-again" good Pan fried noodles, Singapore rice noodles, vegetarians delight (flavorful garlic white sauce ), mu shu vegetables (contains with egg), coconut curry vegetables, eggplant in hot garlic sauce, eggplant tofu hot pot. Don't forget to ask for the spicy chili paste if you like spicy. The lunch portions are generous and come with a spring roll and a soup. We really think it a great deal. We've tried the Longmont china gourmet- and we thought Boulder one was far more better. They do accept credit cards . read more

I'm going to have to create the negative rating app for this place. Maybe I deserved this experience by staying in the restaurant after walking in and seeing 4 tables uncleared, food-laden, and only 3 patrons dining but 4 employees. Clearly, I am responsible for not walking out after seeing how lax their position is on cleanliness. I honestly thought we just go here after a dinner rush or something. (it was about 7 pm). We ordered broccoli beef, dumplings, Grand Marnier shrimp (please spare yourself this particular horror), crispy cauliflower, hot pot beef brisket, and udon noodles. The udon noodles were good. We didn't complain about the cauliflower that was mushy. It happens. After realizing the shrimp dish is cold breaded shrimp ambrosia with pineapple. Their response was "you ordered it so we won't refund it" (Young lady with glasses this is not customer service). You see, they have a cold food section and this was not in it so we didn't expect it but we said okay with dismay. We also noted the HOT pot was cold but after her earlier response, we just decided to collect what we would eat and leave. I complained after on the third bite of his food, my husband bit into a cold piece of beef in the beef broccoli. While my husband boxed my food, an older Asian male came to the register and was talking animately in another language to the cashier while I was trying to explain my dismay. My husband felt threatened by the way they were behaving and came to support me. We had no idea what they were saying so this was based only on the way the man was postured. I noted the word hot was actually in the meal name for the hot pot and 75% of the meal was still on the table I asked her to refund the HOT pot and the beef broccoli. This amounted to 20.00 for each meal. As you see in the picture the food is basically untouched except for my noodles which we had boxed up. This girl came to our table and OPENED MY BOXED FOOD to make sure none of the nasty food was being taken to go. She aggressively berated my husband for eating all of his food It was clearly ALL still on the table. After her handling my food, we threw it away. I hope the owner knows I will be filing a small claims action for this because for 120.00 we only asked for a small reduction based on having a majority of food that wasn't eaten and then they came and made sure the ONE good dish was not edible. We accepted the poor food, we accepted the loss and then they had the audacity to be rude and ruin the small bit that was palatable. Unacceptable. Shame on you. How are you still in business? I believe it is because you think you can get away with this behavior but you went out of your way to ruin what was already a bad meal. I will make time for you to feel this. My girls and I were the only ones besides a few people carrying out their meals. The restaurant building is easy to see, welcoming and attractive to the eye. There was only a few hostesses, a few cooks and possibly the manager or owner was there to make my Bloody Mary. The order if things is different. They seat you, they take your drink order, you review the menu and then you go up to the counter and order your food, they bring you your food. If you want water, it's self serve. I ordered the Seasame Scallops which were very good. Both of my daughters had Seasame Chicken and their friend had Pan Fried Noodles with veggies. China Gourmet has very good food. Each of our meals were very fresh! The price for everything was a bit high but overall very worth the $60+ spent for 4 people. read more

I have always had reasonably good service from China Gourmet. Recently I ordered takeout for myself and one other person. When I opened the food containers, I discovered the restaurant had sent me chicken instead of the mu shu pork I ordered. I called the restaurant for assistance. I asked if there could be a resolution other than driving all the way back as it was a bit of a distance. I asked if they would consider a partial credit - chicken was not my favorite. It was an annoyance rather than an emergency but I did expect some small good will gesture. I was told that I should wait until I came to the restaurant again for an order. I should then tell the wait staff that I was owed a credit. All I had to do was tell them the date and the complete story. No names could be referenced. And nobody wanted to pass me on to the manager to discuss the situation. Really? I was surprised that I could not speak to the manager and that the remedy for their mistake seemed a delaying tactic rather than a customer accommodation. It seemed like such a straightforward and easy solution, but the length of the conversation around such a small credit to satisfy a customer led me to the conclusion China Gourmet was more interested in staving off a credit than in keeping a customer happy. It will give me pause next time I am ready to order a Chinese meal. Pretty sure it will not be China Gourmet. read more

I went there for lunch, around 12:30 pm. There where a few people finishing there food, it wasn't busy at all. A server held up a menue and made me walk across the room to get it. I am a senior so having it brought to me whould have been easier for me. I sat at a table and made my selection quickly. Then I waited as the 3 servers cleared tables the stood around for a long time. After 10 or 15 minutes of no service, I got up and left. China Gourmet is kind of like the fast food of Chinese restaurants. I had never visited - but was hankering for some Chinese food one evening. You stand in line, order and pay - take a number, then sit down. They then deliver your food to your table. I ordered the Hot and Sour soup, egg rolls (with a side of authentic house Chinese mustard) and Kung Pao chicken - extra spicy. The soup was served in a tiny cup. Apparently your options for soup are the tiny cup - or a vat meant to share with 3-4 people. I would have preferred a in-between option - a bowl of Hot and Sour soup for one. The Kung Pao chicken was rather bland. The only thing that was really good in my opinion - were the fried vegetable rolls - and the Chinese mustard. The mustard was good enough to induce the nasal head rush, coughing, and a few tears. I call that good. I wish the rest of the food was a good as the rolls and the mustard. #ChinaGourmet read more

This place used to make great food...so we keep trying it and it continues to be awful. I ordered take out last night for a friend and myself. He was very happy with the Happy Family dinner. I was dismayed about my dinner. I ordered the spicy curry chicken. One of my favorites most everywhere I go to eat. China Gourmet's had no spice to it, while it had a yellow sauce, I could not taste any curry and it seemed pasty. The sad meal had no flavor at all. The restaurant was not busy at all, only two tables had people sitting at them. While I was there waiting for my meal I watched three food plates being returned as incorrect. The food tends to be bland overall. I like the happy family and the shrimp dishes, and the vegetables are cooked well. Egg rolls are good. Both times, fried rice was requested and white rice was given. When we brought this up today when we ordered they didn't care. Very good food. We ordered General Taos Chicken which came with soup, rice, and a crab Rangoon. I also ordered a side of pork lo Mein which was one of the better I've had. A lot of times it's extremely greasy, this was light and flavorful. The General Taos chicken was cooked nicely, full of flavor and not drowned in sauce. I was first excited to see new after dinner candies in the entrance way when we walked in, we've been coming to this location since they opened. Inside there were new faces & it felt very muggy like they were not running their a/c but we still thought nothing of it. Food came extremely fast, like, suspect fast and it all looked different. After tasting a few bits & some research it looks like they are in fact under new ownership. :( Everything was below average. This has been the first Chinese restaurant that has had anything close to the authentic flavors and ingredients of the Chinese food in Hawaii or San Francisco and areas of higher Chinese population.authentic I'm so sick of Americanized Chinese and the restaurants that try to cover all Asian cuisine. Though I see that China Gourmet does offer some Thai dishes and I am wary about trying them. They have great lunch specials with soup and other accompaniments. Overall quality Chinese food in an area of the country that sorely lacks for it. Some dishes are truly outstanding, such as the chicken lomein and orange chicken while others are quite mediocre such as the beef and broccoli. read more
