I have been going here for years since high school the portions were bigger back then, but now a little bit smaller. The food is amazing I normally get the same items over and over again, but I do change it up here and there the service is fast normally in an couple of minutes if you call the head, but if you want your food fresh, it will come out within five minutes. Worst Chinese food I've ever had. I decided to go here for a change and ordered the Hunan chicken lunch combo. It was BLAND! The "fried noodles" were simply plain spaghetti noodles, NOT Chinese Lo Mein or any other kind of Asian noodles, and had NO flavor whatsoever. The Hunan chicken tasted like it was boiled without seasoning, and had the VERY oily sauce added after it was boiled. The sauce was mostly oil and had almost no flavor. I had to add extra chili oil in order for it to have any flavor. With all the other lunch options in the area, I'm very surprised that this place can stay in business. My hubby loves the almond chicken here because it's not covered in thick batter. The bourbons Chicken is tasty. You can get it regular or spicy- it has a lite sauce and vegetables. I like spicy. It's not spicy at all, it's really more of a kiss of heat. Which is nice. read more

Ok, I know what everyone is thinking I give good ratings to all restaurants. I really don't, I just go places that more "experienced" eaters go. I went here with a retired DTE employee, he drove the truck and knows all the good spots. Anywho, he introduced me to this place today. And I have to say I was impressed, they were fast and relatively friendly. I think the smartest thing they did was put all food in to go containers so you wouldn't have to ask for one later. Sorry, but mediocrity is triggering; unfortunately it is so acceptable in our society... so I just wanted a snack... ordered an egg roll and hot n sour soup. Egg roll was cold, apparently they pre-make them, not fresh to order. Sigh. The soup was ok, but couldn't eat it after I added the wonton chips because they were sooo stale, just ridiculous. Been there a few times for lunch and will keep going back : ) They have lunch specials that are all around $6.25 each...and a very good deal for what u get...a selection of 30 different combination plates, and also white or fried rice, plus an egg roll. Your plate is very well loaded and I would have to say to over 3 lbs worth. Also the egg roll is a good sprout one, not the cheaper cabbage one like at some places. A major point to note is that I have never had to wait longer than 5 min for my food because they are well staffed for the lunch rush and constantly make food all during it. They also have a "hot food" table of the 10 most popular items to make they line go so fast. I'm really upset about the review that I'm writing. This has been my favorite Chinese food restaurant for several years. They have delivery so fast that it's almost scary. The food was alway fresh (unless it's close to closing time), and the prices are great. Unfortunately I've noticed a decline in the past few months, but I didn't give up. I was able to over look the order mix ups at first, but they became more frequent. Even when it wasn't busy. The final straw was when I reached the end of my sesame chicken entree and noticed hair! Not just a single strand!!! The meat was tangled up in the hair. I was disgusted, my kids were downstairs eating the same thing. I called them and was told to bring it back. It was well before 11am (opeing time) but I was able to submit my order for delivery to have it delivered 45 minutes after opening (required by online ordering). #1 - It came before scheduled time of 11:45 am....to the tune of 11:35am....boom boom boom...I'm likin ya already... #2 - HOLY FRESHNESS!!!!!!!!!! This ain't no greasy take out folks!~ NO WAY!! This stuff is LEGIT! My Won Ton had the greenest of greens, and the tastiest of dumplings.. Fresh a la Freshhhhhhh.... As someone who has eaten food in Asia...this food is by far some of the best Chinese in the metro area. The food is super fresh & I love that they offer you free samples to taste different varieties that they have showcased. We were so sad when the owners sold their previous restaurant in Farmington but we are so happy they have found a better place to reopen. The restaurant is clean and comfy with not a lot of noise...so a great place to grab a bite to eat & be able to hear your conversation at the table. This place is right near the hotel I was stuck in so I gave it a try. I should have turned around when I saw the steam table of stuff at the front counter, fast food pre made Chinese is typically awful and this place certainly proves it! The general tso chicken was pretty dry and very chewy, also tepid and largely flavorless. The "fried rice" was essentially white rice splashed with soy sauce to give it a little color! No sign of any eggs or veggies or heaven forbid a random piece of meat! The eggroll was hard as a brick so I didn't even try. I got some hot and sour soup too, it was neither! Pretty much oily water, egg type bits and a tiny bit of tofu. I wound up throwing it all away after a taste, but it did the trick! I sure wasn't hungry anymore! read more

I ordered a pint of steamed vegetables and tofu with a spring roll. It was ready quickly and was hot. The spring roll was crunchy and full of good veggies. The steamed vegetables were crisp and the tofu was steamy joy. I'll be back. read more

i like the fact that i can order online for this place! i wish more small businesses had the option of online ordering. the food was very fresh, i ordered a pepper steak and shrimp fried rice combination. the steak wasn't like other steak i have had at chinese restaurants, you could tell it was freshly cut and there was none of the icky fat that usually comes on pepper steak. each bite was perfectly tender and savory. the only thing i did not care for was the peas and carrots in the shrimp fried rice, it gave it a weird after taste. however i would try this place again because the portions are crazy huge (was able to eat the combo three separate times) and the food is served fresh. wouldn't say it is the best chinese around but it is definitely worth trying. read more

Did not feel like waiting for over 10 minutes to give them my order so I went to China Gourmet. First of all there is nothing gourmet or authentic about this Chinese restaurant. It more like a Panda Express then an authentic Chinese restaurant. I had their lunch special for $6.99 plus soft drink which came to a total of $8.20 tax included. My lunch came with Bourbon Chicken, fried rice and egg roll. Bourbon Chicken: No wow factor. It is just okay. Good enough to eat. Fried rice: no flavor. Seems like they just fried the rice then added Spy Sauce to give it the "black" color. Ask the white rice, I think it might just be better. Egg Roll: this was actually good. you should try it. Meh. This place was good. I stopped in randomly between work and class to get some quick 'n dirty dinner. Because I'm boring and white, I ordered the Almond Chicken. That's pretty much my favorite, and I can't bring myself to switch to anything new regularly. The chicken was great - fresh, crisp breading, sliced into managable sized pieces and served with fried rice and an eggroll. The fried rice was decent - a little dry and flavorless, it also had barely any peas or carrots (I literally found about two of each in the whole package, thus leading me to believe that there should have been more). MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT - brown-gravy style almond chicken, not the delicious "yellow" sauce. It was tasty though, and I ate it happily. I did find it to be a tad expensive - I paid about $12 for a regular-sized styro-carry-out container's worth of food. This seemed like a lunch-sized portion, but I paid a dinner price. As this is the closest Chinese place to my work location, I only come here because its literally the shortest distance to drive. The Orange/Sesame and General Tso's options are always on the hot table and are ok options; nothing ingenious or overly flavorful, just generically bland if that's a thing. The fried rice is usually just moist enough and the noodles have a decent amount of veggies as well. Also the plus is the cost- less than $7 for a full lunch meal is very reasonable for the quantity- just don't come looking for anything trendy or gourmet, although they do state they have an Authentic Chinese menu but I doubt it would quick enough for a express lunch. But if you were wanting to try something other than a fast lunch, more power to you! read more

I work near here now, and now that I've eaten here half a dozen times or more I can honestly say it's one of my favorite Chinese places in metro Detroit. Not only is their standard diaspora Chinese good, but their Chinese menu is right out in the open, and they make great noodle bowls. The "fried rice" was barely covered in soy sauce and partially still white. There was also no egg, no peas and no carrots in it. Two hours for delivery( though they tell me that my order actually didn't come in for 20 minutes so I will give them the benefit of the doubt) had to actually call up and be told that the delivery guy had been out for a long time and they had to call him up. So after another 10ish minutes he shows up. I pay him and he is apologizing for the wait. Food is stone cold. I call up again to complain and get told that it wasn't cooked that long ago. And what I think is an offer of them to cook it again and I come pick it up. It was like the guy forgot that he even TOLD me that his delivery guy was out for a long time and I asked him so.
