Wanted to try a new Chinese food place and saw this one is not too far from my house. I couldn't believe the site of this place, it was a dive. It looks like it's closed down from the outside. The inside was pretty sad as well. However, the food was actually really good. I had Singapore noodles and my wife had their Lo Mein. We also had pot stickers. The shrimp in my dish were large and so tender. Most places use tiny shrimp and/or it is chewy. My wife didn't care for the sauce on her noodles but she said the meat was really good and cooked perfect. The pot stickers were very good too. All in all this place was above average and better than the Chinese options here in Lockport. read more

This is a nice carry-out/delivery Chinese restaurant. The order is usually filled correctly and upon delivery the food is hot and very tasty. For traditional sit-down Chinese food I prefer other places, but for convenient delivery and quality product this place fills the bill. read more

I do not know where the people who say the food is bad, come from, because the food here is amazing. The décor is dark, dank and almost ugly but who goes there to eat? It is a great carry out place. The place looks scary and thats because it is outdated. However, I will say it has some of the best food in the area besides one or two other places off the top of my head. I usually order the woton soup, egg rolls, sweet and sour shrimp and the mandrin beef. In this case looks can be deceiving. Try it you won't be disappointed. read more

Kinda scummy on the inside makes me wonder what the kitchen looks like but good food! If you walk in and see the inside it looks a little shady I was skeptical at first but it's more like they need to redo the place take out the carpet paint and clean and they would get so much more customers it's not real dirty it's almost like they bought it in the 80's and left it the way it that way. This is funny Next time you go there grab the yellow and green menu the the register it's so out of date the little map on it says it's by CLUB FOOD AND EAGLES did they mean cub foods? lol and eagles man theses where the days when those stores where still open. The pictures don't justify it you would have to see it for yourself to understand but other than that the food is good and the workers where all nice to me maybe because i put some of my change in that 6 armed statue by the register and got good luck anyways I got the golden chicken with beef on a stick pretty good! The last couple times I ordered here the eggrolls tasted like they were from the day before! It sucks because its right near where I live, but I bypass it for Lucky Wok or China China! I did some internet researching on Chinese cuisine in the local area and saw that China House had good reviews regarding their food. So my wife and I decided to give it a try. The food was very good, they have a regular menu with a nice selection of cocktails (Mai-Tai's, Zombies, etc, and bottled beers). The food comes to your table in traditional stainless steel serving vessels. The prices are very fair and their selection of items is pretty big. The only issue with our experience is that the restaurant is in desperate need of renovation in the dining room. It's not a place you'd want to take someone on a first date, that's for sure. BUT, the food is really good, fresh and worth the money. This place could easily gain a larger dine-in crowd if they would spend some money on renovation and bring the dining room up to modern standards. We had Hong Sue Shrimp, Pork Lo-Mein, egg rolls and beer. It's definitely worth trying if you want good chinese cuisine at a good price. read more

We moved out of Crest Hill a year ago and came back to visit..the food at this place is still Amazing! Our family favorite is House Chow Fun and pot stickers. The owner is really nice along with the staff. The decor might not be up to date but the place is always clean and that's what matters. read more

We recently moved to Joliet and the priority was to find a great Chinese Take-Away place. We tried a place around the corner from our house and it was horrible! Then a friend recommended CHINA HOUSE. We became BIG fans! Fast Take-Away service, EXCELLENT food and a polite & friendly staff. We go, at least, twice a month for dinner & their lunch specials are HUGE for a little over $5.00. Their food is great. I would give them a four or five rating on food alone. However this place is just dirty. It really needs some TLC. They have a fish tank that looks awful. The bathrooms are about as bad as I have seen. There is another China House off Weber rd that is in much better shape and same good food. read more

Sweet and sour chicken was great, governor chicken was good, although I would've like more heat. Sesame Chicken was a bit different from my normal idea of sesame chicken but still good. NEVER have I ever been treated so terribly by a business owner..We ordered food from here tonight at 630 pm and our food arrived at 845 pm. When the food arrived my poor kids were starving and the sweet and sour chicken for them was not in the bag! So I called and talked to manager...her solution was to have the driver return to my house and pick up our order and return our money!! Then she hung up on me and my fiance called from her phone and was hung up on also. Instead of bringing the food we ordered and maybe not charging us...something to make this right. The place is dirty and run down. Even the fish tank is filthy. They really messed up and lost me as a customer and I will for sure tell my friends not to go here. CHINA COOK we ended up ordering from and it was delicious. ..see my review on them from 3 months ago. While far from a spectacular place, China House is perfect for middle-of-the-road Chinese food. Nothing fancy, but far superior to some other options in the area. Ordered some delivery for lunch. I got the No.18 lunch special and an order of the pot stickers. The pot stickers were "pretty good" but the sauce with them was terrible, basically vinegar with some chives. No.18 was the "governors chicken" similar to general tso chicken. It was disgusting. The best part was the rice. The egg roll was soggy and a mix of shrimp and chicken... Also disgusting. The only good part was speedy delivery. I made an order back in April, and found a piece of metal inside of my Empress Chicken. I called the location, and I was told it was from the steel wool they use to clean the dishes with. They were adamant that they would take care of me the next time I called and was hungry enough to chance eating metal. I've been a bit hesitant to call back due to speculation about the cleanliness & attention to food prep, but my hunger made me put that aside and I attempted to re-order the last thing I had, Empress Chicken, and a side order of Eggrolls. I spoke to the owner "Danny", and he essentially told me it wasn't his problem in a prominently cuntish manner, he reiterated that I was shit out of luck as he didn't remember speaking to me, nor did he put a note in the computer, despite being able to pull up the exact order, and tell me the last time that I had ordered... I had no issue with the taste of the food, but after having a contaminated order, and dealing with the less than respectful owner, I would not recommend this place to fucking anybody. read more
