I normally go for my usual favorites: shrimp fried rice, wings, and an egg roll. My sister likes to get the egg drop soup, and my mom usually enjoys the shrimp fried rice as well. This is my second time eating here and I was not as impressed as the other time. A few things wouldn't allow me to give 5 . First, my General So Chicken was fried to hard. I had time chew the chicken, the spring roll had a unpleasant unfamiliar taste( could have been the oil). The pork lo mein was pretty good and the fried dumplings were just okay. I'm typically a creature of habit, so I normally get the same things. But with all 4-6 items that I get (mix and match), they are always on point! Jin Jin is located in Huntersville, close to many other establishments such as Publix, Woodie's Auto, Wells Fargo, etc. They have a great pandemic setup (cannot go into the restaurant), with a kiosk/window for pickups and ordering. I ordered delivery through door dash maybe 20 minutes prior to them closing. The food is hit or miss. We got one dinner plate, two egg rolls, and a small shrimp lo mein. The sesame chicken was great but our pork fried rice tasted burnt. Definitely was disgusting. The lo mein was dry but it wasn't bad. The best part were the egg rolls. They do not offer dine in at the moment. Either delivery or order at the window. I didn't realize how hard it is to find an egg roll without pork around my side of town but thankfully after a few calls I found Jin Jin and crossed my fingers as I attempted to satisfy this craving. They're currently set up for window only orders during the pandemic. The menu is pretty extensive and is very similar to the chinese spots we have back in VA. I ordered 2 shrimp egg rolls and a veggie fried rice(broccoli, onions, carrots, mushrooms) and thankfully the rolls hit the spot and the rice would have been great but there was lots of grease at the bottom of the container. I have never done a review like this before. I'm writing the first half of the review before I eat the food. I ordered General Tso's Chicken with white rice and a quart of Wonton Soup. I love Chinese food but don't eat it much because there aren't many great options in the area. Jin Jin used to be a good option, but their blinds being crooked for years turned me off. On the other hand, it's impeccably clean inside, and I have a broken blind in my house (not viewable from street), so I can't judge. The last time ate Jin Jin was on my son's birthday (4/21). House fried rice could be better, tends to taste a bit like burnt oil. Service is a little rude and place is not the neatest looking, lots of cardboard boxes laying around the corners. I don't quite get the hype that everybody else gives this place so far, but I'm a sucker for good cheap Americanized Chinese food. So, they can still get the 4 stars. When I say cheap, it isn't quite as cheap as some other places. I think my lunch combo was like $6.50 and it wasn't a ton of food. That is still super cheap in general, but not compared to my usual. Chicken with mixed vegetables, extra spicy, no baby corn is always my first go to when I visit a place. You get to see the actual pieces of chicken unlike something like general tso's. It was good, but not great. The sauce was a little bland. The broccoli was certainly above what you would expect from "cheap Chinese", but nothing else really stood out. I'm not a huge fan of Chinese food for various reasons, cleanliness being one of them. However this place seemed different. For starters they have an open kitchen where you can see everything they do which is always a good thing, and their ventilation system is great because we didn't leave there smelling like food. The service is fast and the prices are reasonable. The food was perfect! It hasn't been easy finding authentic food here in North Carolina, but this is authentic Chinese food!
