This review is for the buffet. Honestly this place has some pretty good stuff. We came here for lunch one day and dinner a couple days later. During peak lunch hours when they are constantly cooking and putting fresh stuff out their food is pretty solid. Their chicken skewers and green beans are probably my 2 favorite dishes; fresh, seasoned well, tasty. Both the shrimp dishes I tried were pretty good too My one issue with them during dinner is that they leave all the lines open, so half the food has been sitting there and looks pretty old / needs to be replaced. If I were them I would cut like half the dishes for dinner because people come in less for dinner (I'm guessing) and just keep like 8 dishes fresh and take orders by request if someone wants a specific dish. Overall not too bad; will come back and possibly order take out. read more

Great under $7 large & varied lunch buffet made this not the normal China King. When a friend said we were going to China King I really thought he was kidding me. He wanted me to review a chain Chinese place! Maybe this is just a franchise of individually owned restaurants because this one is special. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by three people at once and questioned "how many?" by all. The place looked well decorated and clean. This one location is special as far as having three full buffet bars and a hand scope ice-cream cooler. More than traditional food was on the buffet like stuffed mushrooms and a seafood roll. Plus some sushi (cooked & veggie rolls), chicken tenders, and a fruit and salad bar for choices. While I did not try the sushi rolls, having the Wasabi (added to crab rangoon) and ginger made the rest of the lunch special. I liked having just a spoonful of good quality and tasting various dishes. I also liked the waiter that kept answering our "thank you" with "thank you". This is a buffet so not all dishes were fresh from the wok, but I have to give this place an A-OK. I understand why my friend and his colleges are fans. Meh. So-so. Average. This is a place to fill up for cheap. Lots of seating but the lunch buffet selection was smallish. Selections were predictable Chinese buffet items. However, cooked foods tasted overdone and looked like they'd sat out too long. Fried shrimp and fried chicken were chewy, for example. Sliced hard boiled eggs had dry and cracking yolks. Some items didn't seem well thought out or were poorly prepared. The only greens for a fresh salad were large leaves of iceberg lettuce. Mahi rolls were sloppily made. Other items just seemed chef poor choices, like the cheesy noodle and crab concoction. Service was okay. Drinks were refilled and used plates removed in a timely manner, but the chopsticks I was using were left directly on the table. The restaurant was clean. Many of the burgundy booths in my section had silver strips of duct tape covering tears. The carpet was clean but stained. Best recommendation for this spot is the price: you can fill up at the lunch buffet with a soft drink for under $10. read more

Not fresh at all, must have gotten ours off the buffet line that was sitting for a LONG time Gah! It was terrible. My Beef and Snow Pea had 4 pieces of meat (I counted!) 4!. The Cashew Chicken was like rubber bands, chewy and flavoreless. The Crab Rangoon was not crispy and tasted off. If this was fresh and cooked seperate then these guys should be ashamed! Wow. It's been a while since we've eaten here. Prices have gone up and quality has gone down. I ordered off an old menu I had in the drawer and prices went up about 20% since two years ago. Had everything delivered and it came on time but it just wasn't good. Ordered several different dishes and they were all pretty bland. I really want to like this place, it's close and I like Chinese! I wanted pizza...she wanted Chinese. Since she's my favorite person, she won. My girl and I went to China King buffet for dinner the other night. She had never been, and I hadn't been in a while. We walked in and saw a handful of friendly faces working. We were seated by a nice woman who took our drink order. We walked the buffet before we started grabbing, and the selection was better than I remember. There was plenty to choose from, and the quality was surprisingly nice. I am a buffet fanatic, and I have lots to say about this one. 1. The crab rangoon are the best from a buffet I have ever had...ever! 2. The pot stickers are better than most, even better than PF Changs. 3. The cheesy crab bake adds celery and onions, that was delightful. 4. Their seafood cake is delicious. 5. The "traditional american" Chinese dishes are above average. 6. My drink was never less than half empty. The only complaint I have is the fried noodles tasted very bland and the stuffed mushrooms left something to be desired. Now for the best part! The total bill for two people and one soda...$18!!! That comes out to be about $8 a person for the buffet! That's amazing for what we ate. This place is definitely recommended and will be revisited. read more

I had the sesame chicken combination with fried rice and egg roll. I also had an iced tea. The chicken seemed odd. Like it had been sitting for a long time. The breading was mushy. The fried rice was ok. The egg roll was very heavy on the cabbage. The iced tea was very watery, or made weak. This will not be a restaurant I will most likely visit again. I grab take out from here up to three times a month when I'm craving Chinese food and I need to head (back) to work. The lunch specials are a great value for the price; I like to have the soup and half of my entree for one meal and save the rest for when I get home. The quality is about what you would expect from a fast Chinese place. Most items are breaded, deep-fried, then had some kind of sauce slathered all over them - those items I avoid. Their Moo Goo Gai Pan (Mushrooms with Chicken) is easily my favorite order. Nothing was truly atrocious, and nothing has made me sick (yet). We live in the neighborhood and have frequented China King many times. I came around to a three star recommendation by splitting the difference between an above average regular menu and a below average buffet. First, the regular menu. There are a few dishes at CK that I really like. The Chic/Pork/etc in Garlic Sauce, Mu Shu, Kung Pao, Beef & Scallops, and Dragon & Phoenix (it goes by a different name at CK, but it's on the house specialties menu) are all above average. Never had anything I was really displeased with... The Hot & Sour soup is also above average. But the buffet... Definitely below average. No Mongolian BBQ station (major bummer for me because I like my veggies and they're, well, pretty sparse and limp on the buffet tables). Another thing that really turns me off is that they use won ton wrappers for the pot stickers, a really disturbing trend in too many Chinese places. They must think we Americans don't know the difference. If you're a buffet, you really have to have traffic to keep the food semi-fresh and CK just doesn't have enough butts-in-seats to make that happen. Bottom line, order off the menu. read more
