Went on Christmas eve. It was empty! I had the Kung Pao Baby Shrimp. Came with the usual vegetables and a scoop of white rice (they have brown, but I forgot to ask). My vegan date had a bowl of bean curd soup, a bowl of mixed veggies, and brown rice. Net price including 4 vegetarian egg rolls and one fountain drink, ~ $25. Got the impression that it's more if a carry-out than eat-in, as many of these little Chinese places are. Would definitely recommend. read more

I've been to this location several times and I plan to continue going here as long as it is convenient location wise. It has proven to be a very reliable, clean Chinese take-out location. Like most, it has very reasonably priced combinations for lunch and dinner. They also, always have a ton of coupons attached to their mail out and free pick up menus that you can use with any order. I typically use the one that offers 4 free crab rangoon with an order over $12-$15. I'm usually ordering two orders and that puts me just over the minimum amount and the crab rangoon is one of the best parts of this place, because they give you a good amount of filling and it is fried to a good amount of crisp. With your combination orders you get your choice of meat, fried rice, and an egg roll which you can usually substitute your choice of rice or crab rangoon if you'd like. The meat/rice combination is more than enough and makes for a decent 2nd meal. If you choose to eat in the establishment, there is plenty of seating and they offer free refills on your fountain drink if you get one, which is always nice. The place is plenty clean for Chinese take-out and the person who takes your order speaks very good English, which can sometimes be tough at other places. Not that i think this matters too much, but it's worth knowing. All in all, my girlfriend and I like this place for the quality and value. Best strip mall Chinese you will find. You order at the counter and pay, then they bring the food out. So it isn't a full service place. But the food is the best. Their broccoli chicken, orange chicken and General Tso chicken are unbeatable. Better than any sit down, full service restaurant I have been to. Their soups are very good too. Highly recommended. OMG. I never write reviews about how great a place is because I forget (that's how you start these, amiright?) but I had to make an exception for this restaurant. Today is my anniversary with my fiance, and he was really craving some Chinese delivery. This was the only China King in our area and we thought they would deliver for us, but once we completed our order they said our address was too far. Just before we were about to settle for a lesser restaurant I got a call from them! THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO THE DELIVERY FOR US if we gave a tip (I love tipping generously people who blow my mind away with great customer service) to which I said I was going to tip anyways! Lol! Once we had our food.. and we were taking bites into the amazing General Tso's Chicken and their fried rice I realized that the $10 tip I left them for a $20 order was 100% worth it. Our delivery box came with all kinds of sauces, silver/plasticware, fortune cookie, AND TWO OTHER WHOLE COOKIES!! I'm usually happy with my selections here. Curry chicken---good, beef and broccoli--- good. I tried something different for me tonight. Garlic Shrimp. Now i know Americans love their sugar, but must we taste it in everything? I tasted NO garlic. i actually thought garlic would be one of their spicy dishes, but this sauce tasted like it came out of a Smucker's jar---- if they had Chinese brown sauce flavor. Good thing i also got the boneless ribs. I could taste sugar in these, too. Not as bad, and they had a nice flavor to them. Some kind of herb. Saffron? I hope I'm not the only one noticing too much sweet in our entrees so restaurants will leave the sugar for desserts! read more

This little mom 'n pop shop has surprisingly good food--definitely a cut above the others like it--and at excellent prices. The food is always freshly prepared after you order it--even the soup. The lunch special is one of the great bargains in St. Louis. And the owners' two young daughters, who sometimes do their homework there, are adorable. Ordered online delivery. Food came in 40 minutes. We ordered the Singapore Mei Fun Noodles, General Tso Chicken, Sauteed Broccoli, Crab Rangoon and the Golden Crispy Shrimp. Everything was good and tasty except the shrimp. Nothing crispy about them. Batter was too thick and soggy. Overall the food was what we expected for chinese delivery. We will order again for sure. Picked up a late dinner consisting of 3 menu items. Arrived home and found a cigarette butt in one of the dishes. Immediately called the China King on Manchester Rd in Des Peres, MO to inform them of it. The call was taken by the female owner and she asked if I would like a new order or a refund. Was she kidding about a new order? Really?!?! I opted for a refund and informed her I would return the next day since I was already at home and had lost my appetite. The next day I returned to the restaurant and the female owner was quick to pull cash out of the register to hand me. Since I frequented this restaurant I trusted the female owner so I didn't even bother to check how much she handed me. I took a few steps away from the counter and so happened to find I was refunded for only 1 dish from my whole order. When I returned to the register I informed the female owner that I was not given the correct amount. She explained that she refunded me only for the dish that had the cigarette butt in it. I informed her that I wanted a full refund and that the whole order was untouched knowing the unsanitary prep/handling of the food. The complete untouched food was in my vehicle and I asked if she would like to take it back. She did not want the food back and ended up refunding the whole amount. I was very disappointed w/ how the female owner handled the situation and disgusted knowing that the cooks smoke while preparing the meals. I went back and forth with deciding whether or not I should review this establishment but I only find it fair that their customers should know to be aware of their unsanitary food prep. So awful. The Shrimp mu Shu was a pile of salty mush. The second it hit the pancakes, they fell apart in your hand. Anything in the dish other than the shrimp was unrecognizable as food. The crab Rangoon tasted like a dessert...very sweet filling. The pork ribs were just ok. That's all we received for that dish. Small pcs of pork ribs...no rice or anything else. We have been loyal customers for about 5 years and never complained until April 1, 2019. The cranky woman who runs the place had forgotten to put the sweet and sour sauce with our sweet and sour dish take out. We called and asked that it be delivered. She refused and told us to pick it up. We agreed but asked nicely if she would make the dish fresh for us so Ithat in 30 minutes when my husband returned home with his meal it would not be old and cold. She flatly refused and even told us to microwave it! I reminded her that she knew we were good loyal customers and asked her to make it right. She refused. When my husband arrived she took his pork and thru it back into the fryer! My husband complained that would make it dry and was not what would correct her error. She did end up refunding his money but threatened to call his employer !!!!!! So my husband did not have dinner that night and China king will never get our business again all over a mistake that the mean woman made and she would not correct. She has been rude to us for 5 years and we never complained until now. She is a number one jerk. read more

Ordered at 8:06 p.m. and was told my food would be delivered in 45 minutes, but it didn't arrive until 9:45, more than twice the promised time. I had already called to cancel and asked for a refund, which the lady processed during our call. A few minutes later, the delivery lady arrived. By then my kids were starving. I refused to sign the receipt, gave the driver a cash tip, and told her to tell her boss to call me so we can negotiate a new charge and run a fresh charge through. Sure enough, all the food was cold and congealed, and today I checked my bank statement. The restaurant put through the full charge. I will never order from them again. Very average food. The only attraction is the web site, although they call and demand credit card payment before they start fixing the food. Kirkwood no longer has Chinese delivery service from any restaurant at all. ADDENDUM: The restaurant credited my fee a few days later. Strangely -- and maybe unrelated -- is that my card had half a dozen fraudulent charges in Illinois within days of this event and we had to shut it down. Coincidence? read more

My go to takeout spot (Panda on S Kirkwood rd) was closed so I thought I would give this place another chance. I've ordered from here a handful of times getting a variety of dishes. I have yet to get anything here worth eating. Each dish had little flavor. The crab rangoon were small and bland. I asked for a small side of sweet and sour sauce for dipping and was almost charged for it. I don't like being nickel and dimmed for this. I ordered and paid for 3 egg roles and walked out with only 2. I'd call to complain but it's just not worth the effort. No attention to detail or overall quality of their food. I recently moved to the area and one night needed something quick and easy for dinner that delivered. It was late and China King seemed to be about the only thing open (with the exception of pizza) I ordered online a couple of items (min $15 for delivery) and the checkout process was simple. A few minutes after placing an order I received a phone call confirming that I placed an order and the lady took my credit card over the phone. I live only 3 mins from the restaurant but chose delivery because I was being lazy ;) and from the time I hung up to when it was delivered was about 15-20 mins, so super quick in my opinion. The food was really tasty and plentiful for the price. I easily had enough leftover for another two-three meals. Hot and yummy. Since then I've ordered a few more times and have done both delivery and pick up and each time the process has been the same - easy ordering, quick delivery, yummy, hot and plentiful food. I've never eaten inside their restaurant but it's a pretty basic, nothing fancy strip mall joint and I've hardly ever had to wait a long time for my order - 10 mins or less if I don't preorder. They have a really extensive menu compared to others and though I tend to order the same several items, I haven't been disappointed yet.
