I ordered this evening from door dash and the restaurant forgot my fried rice with my general Tao's chicken. I even paid extra for the fried rice and I only got white rice. I was really bummed out since my daughter got it a week ago with the fried rice and it was so good. Was hoping to get it. Other than that the food had great flavor. It was a little spicy. That is my own fault since I didn't tell them no spice. The fried dumplings were really good. After a recent takeout order, I found that the entrees were super hit or miss... some offered pretty decent tastes, and good value along the way, but others were.... rough. If you're looking for a restaurant that can do a fried rice dish well, this is it! In all of our fried rice entrees, we were fairly satisified. The others left a lot to be desired, and ultimately felt a little underwhelming for the price. The portion sizes are solid, but just remember that you'll need to be strategic in what you choose! The vibe is definitely similar to most Chinese restaurants that largely do takeout orders, but they offer a fairly open space with lots of tables and parking. The staff was also super nice to the patrons (even an especially rambunctious group of kids). One bright spot is that while picking up the takeout order, I noticed that China King Express still offers a dinner buffet option! In a post-pandemic world, buffet options are so few and far between that this really does bring an element of redemption to China King Express. Overall... My husband and I have been going here for approximately 25+ years. Driving from the westside of Ann Arbor to pick up food. Based on past experience ordering general chicken, I told the man on the phone that we wanted the chicken that is fried with the sauce in bite sizes. NOT the cut up fried chicken with dark sauce on the side. After driving approximately 1 hour there and back, we open the food to find... they gave us the fried chicken with dark sauce on the side. They have done this almost a dozen times over the 25+ years. I asked for the manager, since I have spoken to the owner last time we came in and ordered food. We both raised our kids in Ann Arbor in the same neighborhood. This women was a total nightmare that I spoke to. As an Asian American woman myself, I was appalled. It is almost impossible to explain anything to someone who won't let you speak or give you an opportunity to explain. We asked for a refund for the meal we did NOT order. She refused. She offered that next time we come by, we could get a free general chicken. Clearly she did not listen, when we said we do NOT live in Belleville. Mind you, this is all over $15 refund when our normal carryout orders range closer to $100. This is how they treat loyal customers... NEVER again. read more

Horrible experience, we came here at 9:05 they close at 10. We asked if the buffet was still open and were told "still time." . There was another family there also who had asked if they were bringing out more green beans and the hispanic worker was told no by the lady behind the counter . we should have known to leave then . Once we walked up we saw all there was scraps everywhere but the buttered imitation crab that was the only full tray .All the meat was dried out . And the rice was cold along with most the food. The warmer was already turned off which was I'm sure against health code. Worse when the kids went to at least have desert there was only 2 1inch pieces of chocolate cake ,so naturally the kids went to the ice-cream machine.where they were told sorry all ready off no ice cream. This is at 9:25 . The lady behind the counter had put her coat on and was constantly checking the clock. CKE has been a Belleville area eatery way longer than I have lived in the Belleville area. And, I am not sure how they remain in business. CKE used to be in my partner and my's dining rotation. The food was plentiful, that restaurant was always hopping. Something, sadly, happened a few years ago. We walked in to be seated and the restaurant smelled like spoiled meat. We did not stay to be seated. That brings me up to today. My go-to eatery has closed and I just did not want to drive anywhere. I ordered Sweet & Sour Chicken. It. Was. HORRIBLE. It was cold (I was told 10 minutes, I arrived 13 minutes. The meal was tepid. And soggy. Not just the top layer of the food where condensation collects. Throughout the food. The chicken, the egg roll. Additionally, the fried rice, the chicken bits AND egg roll tasted "old." Nearly stale. AND..... they drizzled the chicken with the sweet & sour sauce (they did not give any on the side) And, of course, it was carry out. WHO DOES THAT!?! CKE does. I had 3 pieces of chicken. There were SEVERAL disturbing instances that make me question if I will return. 1. Our server- was she new, high, or in some other way impaired. She spoke slow and stood far from the table. 2. She asked if the children at the table were under 12. I responded, "he isn't, but she is." Where she further asked their ages. I also heard her ask the family behind us the same question. WHY???? 3. We were staying next door to the restaurant and thought we would give it a shot. BIG MISTAKE!! The "Sizzling Rice Soup" was in no way sizzling or even close to anything I have had in the past. Our server appeared to be special needs, which we had no issue with. However, she also seemed to be in need of more and proper training. When our meals arrived, my beef and mushroom and my wife's beef and broccoli were both cold. I went to the register and spoke with the manager/owner, who immediately apologized and blamed the server for being "slow". She made several other snide comments about the server as well. She came to the table and took the cold dishes away and returned a while later with "warmer" food. When we requested drink refills and boxes for our food, the server sat a bucket of cleaning water down and went to refill my drink after cleaning other areas. Apologies were given, but no restitution was offered. And more blame on the apparently untrained server was given. Save your time and money, travel a bit further for good food and service. read more

I should probably give this place 3 stars but I'm gonna give it 4 because I love it so much. It's old, it's dirty and nobody is particularly friendly. This is another one of those places that I grew up with so I am definitely a little jaded. But the questionable facilities can't overshadow my love for their tasty vittles. I love their food although I would never want to peek into the kitchen to see the conditions in which it's prepared. Truth be told, the misses won't even come here with me nor partake in carry out when I bring it home. But she also thinks mushrooms are gross so she is clearly crazy. Some of my favorites are all the soups, egg drop, wonton and hot and sour are all really good. Almond chicken, sweet and sour chicken and the cracked pepper chicken are also really tasty. The egg rolls are my absolute favorite though, they are packed with bean sprouts, ground pork and little baby shrimp. I hate the cabbage style egg rolls. And after all these years and numerous small price hikes it's still stupid affordable. Two lunch buffets and a couple drinks was only $17 and I got my money's worth let me tell you. Most people would probably rate China King between 2 and 3 stars but I love it so bite me. read more

This has got to be some of the most plentiful yet utterly inedible food on the planet. My husband and I got carry out one night and each of our boxes felt like they weighed five pounds. The food was a grease fest though. Overly coated and covered in sticky thick tooth achingly sweet sauces. The pork fried rice tasted like fast food grease that has not been changed in awhile. It had an oddly burnt slimy flavor. The teriyaki beef rib was chewy and fatty. The sesame chicken was so fried I could not even tell there was chicken hiding in the overly crispy coating until I struggled to chew it. It was also quite sweet. My husband had fried shrimp that tasted off, obviously it was straight from the freezer type but maybe they had let it thaw at some point or something. His sweet and sour pork was in an almost jelly type sauce that tasted just wretched. I was not expecting much but was really let down at any rate. They have a buffet that locals seem to love. Sorry but endless disgusting food is not my personal cup of tea. If you go you might want to have a cardiologist on call and ipecac on hand just in case. read more

I used to like this place. But the last time I came here , the food was extremely undercooked. My husband ended up taking a bite out of raw chicken and a frozen mozzarella stick. I wanted to try the cocktail shrimp but he said I probably shouldn't because I'm pregnant. He had some though. We both were sick that night. The staff was very very friendly though. My rating dropped from a 4 to a 3. My food today just wasn't that good. It seems that several of the items have changed, for the worse. Egg rolls were different, pan friend dumplings were VERY different, and chicken for the sweet and sour was different.
