If I could give China Maxim a lessor mark, I would. We used to like going here as some of the appetizers were really good. Tonight I just wanted some spare ribs as a quick thing to pick up. When I got them home, they were burnt! Now how hard is it to NOT burn any food..???!!! Ever since this new management took over, a couple of weeks ago, the food has been horrible. Got takeout recently and am sad to report that the food was not good. Their pork fried rice was plain. There was hardly any pork or other usual ingredients that made it tasteful. Boneless ribs were fatty and tough while their chicken fingers were doughy. I will not do business at China Maxim again. read more

As noted in my last review, many years ago China Maxim was my go to Chinese take out spot. It was consistently good. However after my last bad experience and review of 7 years ago, I stopped. But I recently decided to go back, give it another try, and I regret it. I craved egg foo young and ordered a combination dinner platter that included said pork egg foo young, crab rangoon, pork lo main (subbed instead pork fried rice), and beef teriyaki (also subbed instead of chicken teriyaki). The egg omelet was burnt. The brown gravy, served on the side, was very bland and tasted heavy of flour. The lo mein noodles were good with a decent flavor but the added thin pork strips were very tough. The crab rangoon was okay but was mainly cream cheese as crab was sparse. The beef teriyaki had a fair amount of gristle and quite chewy. Portion was large, and the employees were pleasant, but the food was just bad. I'll just forever remember the good old days of China Maxim as I will not return again. read more

Horrible food, rice is like mush, gold fingers are filled with greese from fryer and mushy insid, when I complained manager told he Wouldn't give me my money back because I ate some I told him I didn't eat it I threw it in the trash, he then told me to go home and get my trash which is more than 10 miles away, couldn't believe it horrible customer service, and the thing is I bought him almost all the food except for some of the rice that we threw out and he wanted the trash that had the rice we threw out. Last night I ordered food Hot and Sour Soup, Fried Calamari (my fault for ordering calamari for delivery), crab rangoons, and spare ribs. The portions were decent, but the quality was just so bad. The hot and sour soup was more like sweet and sour soup, the tofu was definitely past it's date, and the egg was extremely over cooked (see attached picture). The calamari was so dry and came with no sauce, there was no way to save it and just went straight to the trash The crab rangoons were basically 99% cream cheese and the spare ribs were dry Hopefully they can fix these issues read more

China Maxim - The extremely overcooked egg that I found in my Hot and Sour Soup - Szechuan Near Me - Dracut, Massachusetts

China Maxim is a good reliable place for Chinese takeout, conveniently located in the RK Plaza (east side of Tennis Plaza Rd). I've been here a few times for takeout and the food has been consistent and decent. The atmosphere inside is nothing fancy, an order at the counter place with open kitchen and hard booths for eating in. The food is cooked to order quickly, hot and fresh. They offer the standard Chinese dishes and items including Szechuan, Mandarin, and Polynesian dishes. The prices are reasonable, most dishes are priced under $11. The Pu Pu Platter is $19.95 (for 2)/$29.95 (for 3). 19 Luncheon Specials ($7.45 plus tax each) are served until 3PM daily and come with a free can of soda (until 3PM), $1 more after 3PM. Eight "order by letter A-H" Combinations ($9.25 plus tax) are also offered. The portions of food are pretty good. I've ordered the L5 Fried Shrimp, Pork Fried Rice & Shrimp Chow Mein and the L16 Crab Rangoon, Teriyaki, Gold Finger & Pork Fried Rice. The crab rangoons, fried shrimp and gold fingers are pretty good, which are deep fried golden, light and crispy on the outside, slightly greasy. The shrimp chow mein is okay, which has plenty of baby shrimp (not deveined), onions, celery & sprouts. The pork fried rice is very basic (nothing special), soft rice (light brown color) with chunks of roast pork pieces (some fat). I make every effort to arrive at China Maxim before 3PM, so I can get the lunch price on the specials and the free can of soda. On my last visit, I arrived here at 2:57 PM and the lady at the counter promptly took my order. After ordering my food, she said, "You just made it (in time), what kind of soda?" I have not been in in awhile because I live to far but tonight I used door dash and they delivered to me. This place has the best Chinese food I have ever had. Everything was so fresh and the beef teriyaki and crab Rangoon are the best and rice was perfect! Closed for business due to Covid-19 till at least May 4th according to sign on their door. TAKEOUT REVIEW- Since the dining world has changed so much this past month from Covid-19 & seems like it's going to stay changed for at least another month, thought I'd give you my "takeout" reviews of some local places. Yah, I know, some of you are afraid of takeout, "I could get the virus" & that's fine. Eat your canned beans & franks. But Ward & I feel we should try to support or local businesses by doing takeout 2x a week. So we do. Besides if I had to cook seven nights a week, we'd be dealing with a murder more so than a respiratory illness at my house. TAKEOUT SYSTEM - You call in your order. They are ONLY taking cash at this time. ATM in same building, right next door. Go in to pickup. PRO- We got large, heavy dishes of food. Ward got Moo Goo Gai Pan & I got a Shrimp & Veggie stir fry. Both meals had a light tasty sauce & plenty of crisp veggies & meat. Also got a veggie fried rice to split. Not a ton of veggies in it, peas, onion, a few peppers, but it also was a large serving. We were both happy with our orders. Enough left for lunch tomorrow, always a bonus. CON - Ward was hoping his Moo Goo came with white rice (as it apparently does with the luncheon portion as mentioned on the menu) but it didn't. Thankfully I'd thought to order the extra veggie rice. SO - We'd definitely order again despite the "cash only & come inside to pickup" deal. Be sure to order yourself some extra rice, as it doesn't come with the entree. read more

The food is still very good here but yesterday I ordered from them my usual with has always cost me about $14 but for some reason was $18 this time (before tip). I called and asked why (figured prices just went up because minimum wage went up which is fine) but I was told that they have a new card machine that charges $3.50 when you use a card instead of cash. This seems like something that you should definitely tell someone before you charge them. I asked the woman on the phone why I wasn't told this before when I was ordering because I would have used cash instead but she just said I don't know. Still great food but not the best service. Warning! Adding extra money to orders! Last night we placed our last order with China Maxim. After reading a few of the reviews of over charging , I placed my order over the phone and asked for a total, she said $31.00. I arrived at the restaurant and ran to the ATM next door went to the counter and she pulled the slip off the bag never showed me the slip (almost like she was hiding it) and said total was $32.00!!! I suspect this happens all the time, be very cautious. I know it's only a dollar but it's unethical and sneaky! We all work hard for our money, just wanted to give everybody the heads up! I ordered here at least twice a month for the past two years. Recently I got take out and found a bug in my takeout box squished and dead. This was after eating a few forkfuls of rice. I called and asked for a refund and was passed to the manager. He informed me I could not get a refund unless I returned the food. I told him it was already and it was in the trash. He told me if I took it out of the trash he would send the delivery guy to pick it up. I told him not to bother if he didn't trust me as a customer to tell him the truth I was done talking. Moved away 10 years ago and each time I come home this is one spot I'm sure to pick up some fast Chinese food! I call ahead and it's ready by the time I get there. Healthy, not so much but that's not what I'm coming here for! My favorite hole in the wall for quick American Chinese fast food in Dracut. Mind you not the greatest American Chinese food but the best for when you want something quick, tasty and filling. Conveniently located within RK Plaza in Dracut, China Maxim serves up some pretty tasty food. Combination Plates are always served hot and daily. My favorite is the L17! Eggroll, Crab Rangoons, Fried Shrimp with Pork Fried Rice! The food here always comes in generous portions and is always hot in addition to being prepared quickly, fantastic for those on the go or those who are just hungry and can't wait. Eggrolls are nice and crunchy with generous amounts of filling, Crab Rangoons are also packed with cream cheese and fried to a golden brown perfection. I also enjoy their sweet marinated Chicken Teriyaki sticks! Lightly seasoned, moist and very tender! Mind you this isn't the GREATEST American Chinese food but perfect for those looking for quick bite and need to get their Chinese fix! 4 Solid Stars! read more

Even in a somewhat drunken state, this food was still incredibly disappointing. Crab Rangoon had a pretty good crispy shell, but was made up of almost entirely cream cheese. Cashew Chicken: Large portion was a good size, but I didn't order celery in a salty water sauce. I was hoping for some chicken and cashews, but no, just lots of celery. China Maxim offers a great menu of consistent fare. We discovered this convenient little gem during my wife's first pregnancy. It passed muster and we became weekly regulars in the takeout line. Staff is friendly and accommodating, and takeout orders are always ready when they say the will be. Food is always fresh and never overly-greasy and portions are more than generous. My favorite in Lunch / Dinner Combo L-16, but you really can't go wrong with much on the menu. This is by no means an upscale eatery. It is bookended by a Bank of American ATM and a dance school in a strip mall, but for great takeout / delivery, you can't go wrong here! read more

Greatest Chinese food I've ever had in my life. I walked in one day looking for a quick bite with my friends. I ordered a beef hawaiian and an beef lo mein while my friends ordered some lunch plates. It was fantastic! Everything tasted way better than I expected and coming from friends who were sceptical of having Chinese food, they enjoyed it! Their delivery service is also great! My girlfriend and I, love ordering delivery from here. We live local, and the food always arrives sooner than we expect. Cant go wrong with their Crab Rangoon, and the Pork fried rice is on point! The price is reasonable for what you get, and the Pu-Pu platters are plentiful, but don't come with rice. Eating in, the atmosphere is a little dull, but staff is very welcoming and polite. 9/10 times if you are carrying out they will walk your food to your table, which i thought was pretty generous. read more

I'm been eating here for years, food is good and the staff has always been great. We call every Sunday for the past who knows how many years, it's gotten to the point when they pick up the phone they recite our address before we say anything lol. But I'm done after yesterday, long story short I walked in and order a meal, I asked the woman at the counter if it came with mix veggies and noodles and she said yes it does. When I got home I found it was only chicken (very small bites and very little pieces at that) and celery and the noddles were dry noodles...that's it. I called to tell them about it and was given the manager I told him what the woman at the counter told me when I ordered and that I was disappointed with the plate..this call was made no more than 10mins after I picked it up. I apologized for complaining and asked if I could get a new plate since I was given the wrong info and wouldn't have ordered that dish. He apologized and said I could get a new plate but if I brought in the old one but I would need to pay for it. I explained how I order every Sunday for years and he acknowledged that but said that since the old plate was already cooked he could give me a different one without it being paid for. I don't expect anything free, but given that the woman lies about what was in the dish makes me feel I'm entitled to a new plate. Needless to say I told him we will never order from them again and how disappointed I was in how they treat their loyal customers...looks like It's Lake Shore East from now on.. read more

This is your standard American style Chinese food and is mostly carry out or delivery. There plates are a good deal and my son loves the pork fried rice and chicken fingers. This type of food is usually to heavy for me so this review is mostly from my family, although I do enjoy the crab Rangoon but the Thai place across the street does a much better job on the Rangoon and spring roll. The rice noodles seem to have a funny taste to me but my family seems to like it. I would definitely choose this place over the Lo Kia if your in the mood for American style Chinese food of this type. read more

It really wasn't bad, fast, wasn't nearly the best, but certainly decent mainstream Chinese. Then the quality of their product began to drop so I stopped frequenting them a couple of years ago. So I went back last Saturday evening 5:00pm for a little takeout. Simply small orders of Veggie Fried Rice, Crab Rangoon, and Boneless Ribs. I figured on a Saturday, at prime time, the food should be at its freshest best. Someone please call 911~! Veggie Rice: Very dark brown in color, very little texture, oily, a few peas (canned), some small bits of diced onion, what looked like a broken piece of a single bean sprout. This was not veggie fried rice. Where's the celery, bean sprouts, water chestnut, pea pods, green onion, mushroom, egg? The Fried Rice tells everything about the passion of Chinese restaurant. If you can't put out a decent Fried Rice then close the doors. Boneless Ribs: These were so hard my jaw hurt the next day. How can they serve this? Crab Rangoon: Over-filled with bland tasting lifeless cream cheese. Had a slight ammonia finish to them. Couldn't eat. I should have known, as I was waiting for my order at prime time, no-one else entered to order, the phone never rang, and the delivery guy was slouched out in a chair at the entrance texting on his smart phone. read more

The owner, his family, and staff are pleasant, and the food quality is consistent and consistently good. It isn't a fancy place. It doesn't have a lounge. It doesn't have a function room. This place was despicable. I ordered a plate with steak teriyaki, crab rag goons, pork fried rice, and chicken fingers. I was their at about open time. The crab Rangoon was only cheese and bland, the steak was average, chicken fingers overcooked and chewy, fried rice was bland and soggy, and the only thing I can say was good was the can of root beer I bought made by Pepsi. I would make sandwiches at home anyday before I would ever return to this rats nest. Do yourself a favor and go to China Star in Lowell or China blossom in North Andover. Will hands down dominate this below average Chinese place. I am actually surprised how they stay in business given not a single person walked in while I was eating. I want to cry. I just spent $66 on the WORST Chinese food I have ever had. The crab Rangoon is filled with sour cream cheese. The chicken in the chicken fingers are stringy and so tiny. The rice is way over cooked. The egg rolls and peking ravioli are just plain disgusting. And can we talk about the chicken wings . . . they got them off of a rubber chicken. I seriously wish I could return all of it and stop payment on my card. They should be paying people to eat this horrible food. The only plus is they sent tons of fortune cookies.
