We ordered five dishes: Hong Kong style chicken chow mein, pot stickers, orange chicken, pork fried rice and spareribs with black bean sauce. The food was decent, the orange chicken was really good and the spareribs with black bean sauce was tender, however very salty. I'm assuming because the black sauce. I called the restaurant just to inform them. I can't say I would eat in the restaurant. Everything looks pretty old and boxes around the restaurant. I've ordered food for my mom before and have never seen anyone in there, just lots of takeout on the counter. It's definitely reasonably priced. It was about 66.00 for five dishes. My new favorite Chinese restaurant in Sacramento. The price is unbeatable and it tastes great. My family ordered the Egg flower soup, tomato beef hk chow mein, Mongolian beef, honey walnut prawns, salted fish fried rice and cheese won tons. Everything came out to $101 while having tons of leftovers for 7 people. I've past by this restaurant for years on the way to my house. The neighborhood used to be sketchy with addicts in the parking lot, which caused me to keep driving past it. Being from the San Francisco I was used to Chinese food tasting a certain way. Most of the places in Sacramento/Elk Grove fell short in the taste category. The only knock I could imagine someone making is the ambiance and appearance. It looks like they haven't redecorated the place in about 20 years but other than that who cares because the food is great and the price is right. read more

The place isn't much to look at in the inside, but it does have some of the best Chinese food I've had. Their Mongolian Chicken is really good!!! So many Chinese restaurants cannot make good Mongolian Chicken! Most can only make good Mongolian beef. Their Ginger Chicken is really good and super flavorful! I keep coming back and will again! It was not good at all and I've had my share of okay to great Chinese food. I would choose Panda Express over this place any day and regret I didn't go there instead. I saw the menu and thought $8.75 for the lunch combo was a good deal that I ordered two combos to share. I placed an order yesterday and got General Chicken, Chicken Chow Mein, Sweet and Sour Chicken and Curry Beef. For the chicken dishes, they were ALL huge chunks and 80-90% breading. It was gross and way too much MSG. I took a few bites and felt disgusted afterwards and felt like I might throw up. The chow mein had no flavor and the chicken pieces in the noodles weren't seasoned either, I immediately spit out the chicken as it tasted like cooked up rotten chicken. My coworker ordered the curry beef and wasn't able to finish either. I did wanted to try the curry beef at first but had already lost my appetite at this point. Came across this Chinese restaurant by accident while waiting for my car to be repaired. As Chinese food is my favorite cuisine, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality, taste and portions given! Really wanted to like it but definitely not for us. Place was empty like they were going out of business but we had placed an order on the phone so there wasn't really any going back. Lemon chicken overcooked, wonton soup spilled in our bag and made a huge mess. I could list other issues but I won't. Got 3 lunch combo on 11/27/24. 2 Mongolian beef, chicken fried rice , chicken chow mien and a mushroom chicken with the same side. My coworker who ate the mushroom chicken combo felt violently ill after 30 minutes of eating it. Throw up multiple times and was very weak for a day and half. Called the restaurant and advised them of the situation and they seem to not really be concerned about their customers health. Probably will look for other Chinese restaurants to spend our money on. read more

This restaurant has been here for decades. I haven't eaten here in quite some time. So I put in a phone order and when I went to pick it up was very skeptical as the restaurant was completely empty, except for several people waiting for their takeout orders. The kitchen sounded very busy so a good sign. The food was good, typical Chinese American. Sweet and sour pork was a different flavor and was lean without chunks of fat, highly recommend the salt and pepper chicken wings they were crispy and salty covered in fresh jalapeño and cilantro. Truly sad to post this, but I did not have even an okay experience. The whole event was awkward, not clean, and not tasty. Please please please clean up, be more professional, and simply take it up at least three notches. Kung Pao Chicken, soup, and hot tea were all bland, squishy and questionably fresh. The front door window should have been a sign to turnaround and not even try it. It was if 3 people spat on the windows and just rubbed it around like paste. I am not overstating this. I've been here before a few years ago and was not too impressed but ordered the combination plate on the way home from a buddies house. The first thing I noticed was the price, which was very reasonable. The second awesome thing was that soup was included on to go orders, which almost never happens. It was a small cup but loaded with meaty won ton's. The meal came with deep fried prawns which were great and paper wrapped chicken, also great and not the norm for area combo plates. The fried rice was good and the pork chow mein was large and had a pleasant bbq flavor to it. The sweet and sour pork was odd in that it was not in the sauce and you had to dip it, it wasn't the best pork either. Either way, this was a pleasant surprise, and I will be back, but for take out only. As far as ambiance, I was not impressed and wouldn't eat inside. This is not a very glamorous location, and I found the outdated and rundown interior to be a bit offputting when I entered, but as I have said before, I don't really care about decor so long as the service is good and the food is delicious. They did well in both these categories. Service was prompt and pleasant, the portions were generous and at very reasonable price. I ate some rice with vegetables with their sweet & sour sauce and was pleased that their sauce had some bite to it and wasn't just sweet and flavorless as happens in some places. I brought home food for Roger and he pronounced it delicious. It's not often I get out this way, if it were closer to home I'd be pleased to come here as a regular. read more

Truly 0/5. I've had my fair share of mediocre American Chinese food growing up, but this is unacceptable. I ordered the lunch special Curry Beef for takeout. Instead, I received Curry Chicken. I'm not entirely mad about receiving chicken instead of beef. What I'm mad about is the undercooked chicken! It had an undeniable tinge of pink. Also, that curry sauce is so bland. How is that even possible with curry sauce!? Water taste better than that! Oh, and service. The older lady (guessing manager?) has a bad attitude. She rudely asked where the younger guy employee went after he took my order. Although he got my order wrong, he seemed to be the only one working. The best part was when the older lady's friends came into the restaurant. One of her friends looked at me funny as if I shouldn't be here or something. I thought I was overthinking, but nope. When the older lady went to chitchat with her friends, that one friend wasn't comfortable with me there. I pretended as if I was minding my own business and didn't understand what they were saying. They have been around for quite a while, I recall my father and I picking up Chinese at this literal location (not sure if it was the same owners/name then) in the late 90's. My father would stop on our way home from day care in East Sac to Elk Grove... so when I personally moved to the area as an adult, it was pretty cool stopping here on my way home. I love their Egg Foo Young and their Hong Kong Style Pan Fried Noodles; I always get house it's delicious. Best won tons for wonton soup, their broth isn't the most flavorful but the little shrimp hidden inside the middle of each wonton makes it worth it. read more

This is the only thing I ate all day. And felt sick like a hour after eating. Stay away guys. Go to Heng Fat on gerber next to mountain mike. Only reason why I went here is cause Heng fat was closed and I thought I'd give it a try. Hard pass. I should of listed to my coworkers on this one. According to Yelp, 2 stars = "Meh. I've experienced better." The sad part is, that statement is true -- but by better I mean at the very SAME restaurant in the past. I've lived in the Sacramento area for more than a decade and remember frequenting this restaurant a lot, and my family even knew the owner at the time, Steve, and his wife. The food was good whether lunch specials during a weekday or dinners (dine-in or takeout). General Chicken, Garlic Chicken, you name it. Not sure when it changed up but I have been a few times recently and have been thoroughly unimpressed. Ordered the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce with Fried Rice (and tasted some of the chow mein that came with the other dish). Veggies...I was not expecting the peas and [cubed] carrot mix. Chowmein was greasy, eggroll didn't come with the hot mustard sauce. Soup was so-so. Sorry, China Ocean. Maybe update the decor too. Not sure if you'll get my business back anytime soon. read more
