Golden Dragon fulfilled my pregnancy craving of Chinese food! Stopped by with my mom (about to be grandma) for a late lunch after a morning of shopping. My mom had been here before with a couple of friends and enjoyed it. We were seated quickly, restaurant was moderately busy. I opted for a lunch order of orange chicken ($15.95), which came with vegetable chow mein and hot & sour soup (instead of rice for 95¢ extra). Soup was great, not too spicy. The real star was the orange chicken! It was a mix of dark and white meat, super crispy, and the orange sauce was plentiful with just the right amount of sweetness. Not spicy in my opinion, but a nice citrus flavor. Chow mein was also tasty. Service was friendly and the restaurant was both clean and spacious. Sunday night dinner. Was not the most hungry, ordered shrimp fried rice, general chicken and salt and pepper wings. Came out to be about $70, which is absolutely crazy to me, but considering we're in Elk Grove I guess I'm not too surprised. I really liked their shrimp fried rice, it had crunchy rice pieces. The salt and pepper wings, along with the general chicken are pretty standard, nothing amazing. These are safe options that we get for my son. I know when we're hungry we would've ordered more but we didn't this time around. The waitress was really nice, always came to check on us and fill our drinks. The inside was cozy. Really enjoyed the wicker chandeliers and the overall aesthetics of the restaurant. I feel like this establishment is overpriced but again, with the items I ordered they're portioned generously. I will be coming back to try the other menu items that veer off the norm as I think it would be more reasonable price wise. I'll be bringing it home as a takeout. The woman at the register was really friendly and nice. Restaurant inside was clean and well maintained. AT HOME: when I got home, it came packed in a container with individual sections to add food. There was chow mein, fried rice and honey walnut shrimp. I had a side order of Crab Won Tons. Chow mein - tasted good. Maybe it was because it was taken out the noodles was a little soft. The noodle mustve bloated by take out. I prefer it being slightly chewy and al-dente. Not bad. Still good. Fried Rice - it tasted like it should. Fried rice was good to eat. Honey Walnut Shrimp - its good too. It tasted typical. I think I shouldve ordered something with beef. But no regrets, just maybe at the time of eating I was not craving shrimp. Crab Won Ton - its a typical flavor. It wa delciious. Would be great if they added Sesame Oil in the filling. Was not a fan of the general chicken my sister ordered, was not good at all, flavor was off. Everything else was decent and I had no complaints. I ordered the sesame chicken lunch plate for $17. Overpriced and that lunch plate was the most bland Chinese food I've eaten. It came with plain chowmein and plain fried rice. The chicken was drowned in sesame sauce. The service was fast, questionably fast-my food was done in less than 5 mins. Overall, I rather go Panda Express- it's cheaper and tastes better than this. I'm always down for Chinese lunch specials! Theirs comes with fried rice or white rice, chowmein, and choice of meat. The general chicken and salt n pepper chicken is right on par! Very enjoyable and affordable. My kid is a connoisseur of crab wontons so in her opinion they were "bussin." Some places seem to not season the filling inside the fried wonton but not here! Tried this place off of Door Dash. I was surprised to see that they give great portions. One combo plate is definitely shareable. I thought the chow Mein was very flavorful. The side Asian salad was a favorite. I believe the prices are justified for the amount of food they give. Overall, the food was cooked well and tasted great. This has been my go to Chinese food restaurant in Elk Grove for years. I love their General chicken and their Singapore noodles. I did wish they had sweet and sour pork, or other pork dishes on the menu. The honey walnut prawns are always as must. As well as the cream cheese wontons. I've tried their bbq pork baos in the past and they were delicious too. I mostly get take out, so the service has been fast. We usually love ordering from Golden Dragon & hadn't in a while so we ordered Pork Fried Rice, Foil Wrapped Chicken, and hot and Hot 'n Sour Soup to be delivered. When it was finally delivered we opened our bag only to find that our entire order was completely wrong - even though the receipt on our bag was our correct order. I reached out. After providing a thorough explanation AND providing pictures on food that was at lesser $45, I received credit from DoorDash for $19.80 & they would not give me anymore when I tried following inquiring why I had received that small amount. I then called the restaurant to tell them about what happened. The woman who answered the phone said that the people in the back must have bagged our order incorrectly. I informed her about everything with DoorDash & asked if I can simply reorder my original order to make things right as it was the restaurant's error. After speaking with her boss I was told that couldn't happen & if I wanted to reorder, it would have to be through DoorDash. So not only did the restaurant completely mess up my order, but they also did nothing to rectify it, and DoorDash didn't provide me with an opportunity for a reorder, or even half of what I had paid for. I found a bug in the walnut shrimp I ordered, which was a very concerning discovery. When I called to report the issue, the staff member who answered the phone was sweet and apologized but said she could only offer a credit per the manager's instructions. When I asked for the manager's name, I was placed on hold and then told that she couldn't provide the name. Eventually, she said the owner and manager were the same person and mentioned the name Michelle. When I requested a refund for the shrimp, which was part of a $90 order, I was only offered a credit. The staff explained that their policy requires the food to be returned--something I couldn't do since I had already discarded it. I offered to send a photo of the shrimp as proof, but this was also declined. Overall, I'm disappointed with how this situation was handled. While the apology was appreciated, the lack of transparency and the refusal to offer a refund left me feeling frustrated. Oh my goodness this was by far the worst Chinese food with no flavor what so ever, that I've ever had in my entire life. I've ordered from Golden Dragon a few times and I haven't been disappointed yet. One of my favorites is the Chef Skinny Noodles. I also like the egg rolls because they are crispy and vegetable without pork. The sweet and sour sauce makes them even more delicious. My husband tried the Mongolian Chicken for the first time this week. There are lots of veggies and the flavor and seasonings are spot on. Customer service is pretty good. We ordered a combo plate, we ordered the general chicken and it came with 2 sides and 2 piece potstickers. The entree is great, was hot and fresh. The sides we ordered chow mein, it was good as well, the fried rice was ok was pretty dry but it was flavorful. Potstickers were delicious.
