This place is the OG of Chinese food as it has been around for decades and still tastes the same. I believe my first encounter of this place was in the early 2000's but now it's 2024 and the chicken noodle soup and fried pork chop over rice still tastes delicious. The chicken noodle soup comes out super hot with a meaty savory chicken and a side of ginger sauce to dip with. The noodle is fresh and goes well with the soup that doesn't need anything any other ingredients added to it. The pork chop over rice is delicious as well. I came to Yee Cheong Restaurant for lunch many times because of its convenient location. The food is pretty average. The price is reasonable. Yee Cheong has a good-sized dining room with many tables. I haven't ever had to wait for the table here. The service matches most of the Chinese/Vietnamese restaurants in the area. The parking lot is not the best. It has lots of potholes all over the parking lot. It is way overdue for maintenance. I saw many homeless people walking around in the parking lot on my last visit. This makes me concerned. read more

And the price was not very appetizing either, for a plate of chicken chow mein and kung pao chicken and 2 sodas was $40. Way too much in my opinion, especially for how much the portion size was. I haven't been here for years. I'm here for the combination plate. The general chicken was yummy. The only thing was it didn't say anywhere on the menu what type of fried rice it was served with, I should've asked. I don't eat pork. I didn't know it had char siu in it. I grew up eating at this restaurant. They are a mediocre Chinese restaurant. I used to love it here but the food aren't the same as how they used to be. Called to place an order for takeout. Was told it will take 25 minutes. Got there and there was no one inside because of the current situations, they only do takeouts. Went to the front to pay and was told to wait a bit. Waited for about 45 minutes for my order. I did have a big order, 10 items total. Seemed like there was only one cook in the back. Soy sauce chow mein: not on the menu. It was super oily and bland. Noodle was quite hard as well. Salty fish and chicken fried rice: pretty good. Can actually taste the salty fish. Shrimp fried rice: a tad bland. Needs more shrimp. Their portions and prices are decent. Service is ok. They only take cash at the moment. I believe they are closed at 6pm. Be sure to call before you head over to confirm if they're open or not. It has been ages since I've been to this place for noodles. We didn't have plans for dinner so decided to stop by to get a quick bite. If you have been to this restaurant a couple of times the workers usually end up knowing who you are and sometimes will even ask if you want the same dish. We always order the usual shredded chicken, wonton/potsticker noodles. I love the ginger oil dipping sauce that comes with it and I can eat the dipping sauce by itself. I love the noodles that they use bc it doesn't soak up water like pho noodles which most places serve when you order chicken noodle. If you want the thicker noodles sometimes they charge extra. This place it already comes with the thicker noodle, hence why I like this place. We tried the Hainan Chicken with Rice in the past and it was just as good. It's a good place to go if you want to venture out from the normal pho joints on Stockton Blvd and 65th. This restaurant is a hidden gem. read more

This place is right next door to the Foot & Body Reflexology massage place I frequent ($20 for an hour!). Dine-in and to-go, either way the soup is great. I personally am a fan of the pretty simple Wonton with Egg Noodle soup, but have also tried the Wor Wonton and Seafood Wor Wonton options. The broth is always warm, gingery, not too salty, and you get all the fixings such as BBQ pork and baby bok choy. The wontons themselves are alright (shrimp and pork, seasoned) but not always consistent. They recently re-did the place, at least the chairs and tables seem newer and clean. I rate this 5 stars due to the memories I've had there since I was a child and thus the rating reflects this restaurant from late 1990's to about 2007ish. The original owners were Chinese & Vietnamese of Chinese descent/origin hence why this establishment is a mix of both cultures' food. They rented this place from a very distant relative of ours and made it a success during the 90's & early 2000's My Cantonese family didn't eat out a lot so a few times a year, this was THE gathering place. Their dumpling noodle soup or chow fun was a MUST. A staple on our table every single time we've gone there. I hope to visit soon as we've all moved out of the area years ago but I know it will NEVER be the same and I'm sure 20+ years later all the staff/owners have changed, I will always remember the ORIGINAL female owner folding soup dumplings while watching Hong Kong TVB channel near our table. I came here for the longest time and the owners changed over the years. The overall quality of the chicken noodle soup that I always get there mostly remained the same. It has a taste that even though I know it isn't the greatest chicken noodle soup I tasted, I still come back here for more. I wish the food consisted of more in the bowl, but how much they give is filling for me. Came here for a quick lunch. The parking lot sucks because there's a HUGE 99 cent store in the same strip mall. We sat where we wanted and were served in under five minutes. As soon as we walked in, we saw the average chinese families eating and being loud, luckily they didn't give us any second looks (I'm Filipino and he's white.) We ordered the beef and chicken over rice. What we got was sliced mystery meat and white chicken with what looked like canned vegetables. The rice was fluffy, but a bit hard. The sauce that came with it was ok. We sprayed on some hot sauce, which seemed to be watered down Sriracha sauce, or perhaps a generic equivalent. They have fish sauce on the tables so you don't have to ask for it, which is a big plus for me. Most asian restaurants that I go to never have it out, not even in pho houses. Weird. They also had chopsticks in pink straw dispenser cups. I should've taken a picture of that, but I always feel a bit shy to take photos inside of businessess. One time when I was in high school, I was an amateur filmmaker and I brought in my camcorder into a Starbucks. The abruptly asked me not to turn the camera on, as no recording devices were not allowed in the store. I lived in Fairfield at the time, go figure. A picture I did manage to take was of this tiny note written on the back of some box, then wrapped in plastic wrap. On the note it read: "CASH ONLY THANK YOU" The note was handed to us, hidden between the two menus they gave us. Funny. As we were finishing our meal, (which was $8 out the door,) this trio of latina women walk in, dressed as if they were hitting the cumbia club to go baila. I have been coming to this place since.... FOREVER. And when I say FOREVER I mean FOREVER!!! I grew up a couple miles from this place and my church was half a mile up the street from Yee Cheong. Growing up, everyone dreaded waking up at 730 am on Sundays for church, but everyone did it for: A) The Love of God and Christ B) Your parents MADE YOU C) Yee Cheong was promised to you AFTER CHURCH!! Being the devout catholic, wonderful son, and food lover I am, I did it for all three reasons!! :) You could always depend on YC to give you authentic Chinese and Vietnamese food at no dent to the wallet. We typically fed parties of 15 here for under $80 and the portions are plentiful. As much as I came here growing up, I only ate one thing here, EVER! So much that the owners never even game me a menu, they know EXACTLY what I wanted! Ladies and gentlemen, that meal was.... The House Special Chow Fun...Sighh... Full of flavor, full of BBQ Pork, Tender Beef, Plump Shrimp, Succulent Crab, and the vegetables... my 'ol my the vegetables..Fields of baby corn, mounds of mushrooms, thick noodle crevasses of carrots! And the SAUCE..Yes the sauce was what won me over, it was a wet style chow fun, and I left the plate DRY when finished with my meal.. I spent a good 14 years of my life eating this sole plate every Sunday, (minus the bok choy that is).. Sadly..and yes this is the reason for the missing star in my rating. They recently changed Chef's and the sauce is a mere memory to me. The chow fun is still good and portions are huge, but the satisfaction is lacking however. I guess I've grown accustomed the very BEST YC had to offer, and it isn't anyone's fault they changed chef's. Everyone should try this place out once, forget the big restaurants up the street, save those for weddings. Drop the fast to go spots where the word "authenticity" is foreign to them. I always go to the 99 Cents store And I would notice This Chinese restaurant so I walked in and ordered shrimp chow mein when I got home to try it it was delicious I just wouldn't ever eat there because one of the older lady was really rude and was arguing with me about simply giving me more soy sauce packages after only giving me 2 n I paid $15 for the chow meinn kos I asked for extra meat n mushrooms n she had nerve to say $5.50 for 2 More Soy sauce packages until the lady that took my order came n told her in Chinese to just give it to me. I'm a huge fan of the Wor Won Ton w/ Rice Noodles. You get six large Won Ton, which have seasoned ground pork, shrimp, and black mushrooms. They are far superior to any of the Won Ton at any of the Pho shops I have tried around town. They also are generous with the rice noodles which are wider (1/4") than the Pho shops. The broth is much more delicate than the robust broths of Pho, and much tastier than the shoyu broth at Shoki (only one I've tried). Also included are two large shrimp, several slices of barbeque pork, a couple pieces of chicharon, which take on an interesting chewy texture in the broth. Several nice pieces of baby bok choy and other toppings make this a great deal at $6 including tax. The bowl is similar in size to a large bowl of Pho and I can barely finish it. I have also tried their jook and chow fun, and both were very good. read more

Yee Cheong is a hole-in-the-wall Asian restaurant. Good food for low prices, but questionable service. They do serve good tea with your meals. My favorite dishes are the Beef Brisket stew with wide rice noodle soup. Usually there is too much of the brisket. The broth is very light and flavorful. I also like the Pork Chop and Onion rice with fried egg. You get two good sized pork chops with sauteed onions in a nice sauce. The Beef Chow Fun is also good. They char the chow fun just right. The beef is tender and been sprouts fresh and crisp. The restaurant is fairly clean for the neighborhood its in. The servers are so-so and know limited English. read more

Well, we now have an official "hole in the wall" authentic Chinese food place to stop when we're in the Sacramento area. It is run by Vietnamese in the "little Saigon" area and not much English spoken so be prepared to point and play pictionary a little bit lol. We ordered the beef chow fun (dry style), pork over rice (think HUGE pieces of bacon tenderized and seasoned), and the salt/pepper beef over rice. All the dishes were fantastic! Service was great considering they can't speak with us very easily and all three dishes plus a coke and tax = $22!!! WOW! so, with tip you're out the door for around $9 per person. portion size was approx. 1.5 cups rice + 3/4 cup of main dish + egg roll. Each plate can easily be shared by 2 people. Anyway, I doubt we'll be able to try everything or even come here often enough to add to favorites, but, we definately recommend for locals or travellers headed this way. I think they offer Pho and other Vietnamese dishes (signs on windows) however, none of that stuff is in teh menu...perhaps there is a non-white boy menu they hand out to other customers... you may want to bring someone that speaks the language so you can try other offerings. Food was really good! I've been coming here since I was a child. I miss the old owners they were really nice and sincerely cared about their customer service! The new owners/workers don't have any customer service. There's no point in ordering drinks here, you have to get up and get them youself. Once you place your order, no one will ever come check up on you. What's the point of going out to eat if you have to serve yourself. This place is wonderful for lunch. Big portions and easy on the wallet. FOOD: The beef short ribs with rice is delicious. I have just recently discovered it. They also have the best wor wonton soup. The "sui gow (wonton)" is meaty and tastes great. Also, the pork chop/beef stew with rice is great as well. The noodle soup is a little bland but the portion is enormous. And you get a one slice of bbq pork, 2 shrimps, some fried pig skin, fungus, vegetable and pig ears (which I don't eat). I've also tried the pork chop and rice. That's yummy too. I wish that i can give them no stars. I was at the massage place next door and my sister came into this restaurant and asked a table for one and a waitress told her to "GET OUT!". Like really?!... I will not recommend anyone to come here because they're so DISRESPECTFUL. My sister said that the waitress didn't look upset or anything and assuming the waitress was judging for the way she was dressed. I've never been to a place that's this disrespectful in manners especially when it's my sister's first time at this restaurant. I don't know who the owner is, but whoever kicked my sister out like that... Haha definitely needs to be fired. Nobody needs to be treated disrespectfully when it's their first time at a place. I really do love their beef chow fun, it's gotta be one of my favorites. Kim Hei used to make THE BEST chow fun ages ago, but not since the 80's. And their pan fried noodles are nice and crispy. The wonton rice noodle soup is clean and refreshing on a cold day. The prices are great, nothing over $10. It can get busy during the lunch rush though, so either come early or have a late lunch. It's located in a shady part of town, but the chow fun here is pretty good. It'st the second best place to eat chow fun aside from Lollibowl. The restaurant itself is small, but there never seems to be much people in there anyway.
