Ok!!! So here it is.. You kind of look around for those spots that have those certain flavors that take you back. Not like those food chains that just get you through. Well we found it at China Palace. Our new place for fresh prepared Chinese food. We had to wait a few extra minutes but absolutely well worth the wait. We are done looking. The egg rolls are hand rolled as ordered and the egg flower soup is the best I ever had. Moo shoo pork was great. Fresh and served hot. Why just a 4 star. There's only One that is perfect. read more

Fair tasting food. Prices average. Service was poor. For some reason, with only 3 tables sat, we watched the next people who came in much later get served much faster. Our waitress must have stepped into a space-time vortex when she left the table as it took 5-10 minutes for simple things like drink refills or take out boxes. The server was nice and friendly but the food was so Americanized that it tasted like the sauces were out of a bottle from Albertson's sans the salt. Szechuan Tofu didn't have szechuan spices in it for all I could tell. I was quite clearly just a sweet and sour sauce (orange death) that had a little spice added to it. When I ran out of veg and tofu and had nothing but rice with a bit of sauce left is when I was able to taste the sauce all by itself. With all the sodium that we know is in Chinese food, how come the sauce had no apparent seasoning in it. It was strange that when I would take a bite with anything else (bell pepper, carrot, water chestnut, tofu) you could taste the stereotypical sweet and sour sauce with added spice. But when it was rice and sauce only - like no flavor. I can't figure out why it was busy when we went with the food tasting as it did, along with the clear short-cut game played with very Americanized dishes. Panda Express blows this place out of the water! Sadly I ate it because I hate wasting food but we will not be going back there again. read more

I find it difficult having good Chinese food in Idaho. After discovering this little gem in eagle Idaho I'm very happy. At first one may be discouraged by the ambiance but you won't regret eating here. I started with won ton soup which is big enough for two; delectable. Then I got mandarin chicken, fried rice, chow mein and egg roll. All top quality. You may be used to fried rice with rice and every now again pork, and other fixings but their fried rice isn't skimpy. The hot tea is Chinese tea, could be better with filtered water, but nice. This place has been in Eagle for quite a while now. Surprising to me as I hardly see anyone here. For the half dozen times I've been here in the last five or so years, I can only remember there being one or two other parties eating while we were there. As for the food, it has been different each time. I usually stick with the mandarin chicken. One time it was very good, the next time it was garbage - nothing but grease and no meat, only fat, gristle and who knows what else. Totally hit and miss. The egg flower soup has been good every time, though, as well as the fried rice. I don't think I will be going back. The service is almost non-existent and the inside is dated and in need of a pressure washer. This would be a Restaurant Impossible candidate, but I think Robert Irvine would end up walking out. If I'm in need of Chinese, I'll drive 5 minutes into Garden City and visit Jade's or Panda. Sorry China Palace. read more

I've eaten at China Palace one time, and that was enough for me. I had the Orange Chicken (I think) and it was so bad that I took a few bites and couldn't eat any more. I have friends that think the place is great, but I don't trust their judgement on what decent Chinese food is like. China Palace is definitely a three star joint. If you are looking for high end Chinese food you are at the wrong place. If you are looking for a quick and dirty lunch, this place is great. I ordered China Palace thru door dash. I called the restaurant to make a change to a dish ....the person on the phone was INCREDIBLY rude. She told me that under no circumstances do they take orders from door dash. I tried to explain that I paid for the order and she told me that there is no order and hung up. The door dash driver texted me to let me know he was at the restaurant picking up my order but the owners wife was being very rude to him and told him how much she does not like the company he works for. She made him wait an hour! Taking and filling other orders before mine. He finally got the order and delivered it to me within 10 minutes. The food was HORRIBLE. Cold and overcooked. I could tell she left it sitting for a very long time. I understand if she does not want to do business with the delivery companies...remove your business from them. I will never go to this place and will tell people how horrible the food was. read more

Atmosphere: Traditional Chinese restaurant. It was carefully decorated in red and gold. Large nice print of the Great Wall. The restaurant could easily accommodate a group of 4-6 individuals. Staff: The hostess/ waitress had dual roles, and overall was very pleasant. She greeted us with a warm smile. Quickly showed us to a table. She knew the menu and was able to give suggestions. Prices: It was about $10 pp.   Location: Downtown Eagle, next to the Eagle Day Spa.  Parking / Venue:  The restaurant is in a small shopping center. Parking, many would view as a concern we didn't have a problem.     Food: As the old saying goes "you'll be hungry in 20 minutes" held truth. The dinner plate and lunch plate appeared to be rather small. Tonight's choice I choose: Sweet & Sour Chicken, Pork Fried rice, Egg Roll,and their "special Salad". Pork Fried Rice: Very limited on amount. I was really hoping for a larger quantity. I've always been in establishments with the rice piled onto the plate, however, this was not the case. The rice consisted of strips of pork, peas, green onions. The flavor was not too noticeable, and could use some maybe garlic or other seasoning. However, the texture was PERFECT! The Sweet & Sour Chicken was delicious. The sweet & sour was freshly made, and had a crunch to it. A very nice change. I've visited other Chinese food restaurants where the food was already made, and the food was sitting for a while. In return gave a wet sensation and made my taste buds sad. The sweet & sour sauce was nice and refreshing. Almost a light and airy sensation. I enjoyed the combination of the crunch and the sauce. I would highly recommend. Special Salad: I was not impressed. It was lettuce, small strips of pork, shredded carrot, mayo (I'm guessing) based dressed, with paprika as a garnish. The dressing was too watery, and the salad had minimal flavor. Egg roll: Whoa! What a nice treat for my stomach and mouth. I could of easily ate two of these bad boys. The pork sausage and cabbage was sensational. The pork sausage had perfect amount of seasoning, which created this savory taste. The shell had a great crunch too it. Overall my favorite egg roll I've had in numerous of years. Specialities / what "they" are known for?   I'm going to make them be known for their egg roll, it was seriously delicious Star rating: 3 out of 5 stars. I knocked off a star for how small the dinner plates are, and pricing. Very expensive for Chinese food, and cost per person. I knocked off a star, because there is always improvements to be made. ( note: I RARELY give 5 out of 5 stars). I really only like one dish here: Singapore noodles. It is not on the take out menu but I always take it home to eat. Full of curry flavor with a few veggies, chicken and rice noodles. I got an order of fried rice that had literally no vegetables except for some green onions, it was overcooked flavorless mush with a few scraps of chicken for $8. The food here is even more delicious and authentic than the Chinese food I've had in China and Hong Kong! I really recommend the Hot and Sour soup. I've been coming here for about 2 years, good atmosphere, not too swanky, and fair pricing. One time they messed up my order, I called and told them. The problem with this place is that it's very hit-and-miss - you can get great food one day and not-so-great the next. It's kind of a running joke in our house because we live in Eagle and eat their food often - "what's it going to be today?" I guess if it were expensive we would be more bothered by the not-so-great days. Most of the time it's pretty good though. read more

Is there a ZERO star to give a restaurant? We just moved to Eagle from California and we are craving Chinese food. We saw this little place and decided to try it. I read the reviews on Yelp before, but besides the negativness, decided to give it a try. OMG!!!! What a dissapointment. When we first walked in, the waitress was on the phone. While waiting for someone to come and seat us, we couldn't help but hear she was taking a customers complaint. First thought, this is not good. She then looked at us and said, "Take a seat anywhere." We did. We could still hear her conversation apologizing and saying she would speak to the manager about whatever the complaint was about. The woman came over, and gave us our menu's. She was nice, but acted in a strange way like she was sick or something. She moved very slowly, had a pencil stuck in her hair... and a dirty rag hanging out the back of her pants pocket. She was acting like she had a back problem, barely moving... I was discusted with how she waited on us. I mean, either she was faking it for attention, or she wanted the rest of the day off. I didn't ask her what was wrong. But the next table that came in did. Two gentlemen, said, "Are you ok?" Just what she wanted to hear. Then she dropped her tablet, and bent down very slowly to pick it up, and said, something about getting older. Anyway, it was awful to have someone like that wait on you. It totally took away from our dining experience. Then when she brought the food, her fingernails were dirty, and she had cupped the small bowl of soup with her hands over the top. AWful. Just then the cook came out of hte kitchen, went into the bathroom, really quick and walked out. You could tell she didnt wash her hands. What a place!!!! We were the only table in there, along with the other table wiht the two gentlemen. Don't go here unless you want to get depressed. The food is awful, the atmospher would be OK if there were POSITIVE people working there. But What a BAD EXPERIENCE... it's too bad because Eagle needs a good Chinese Restaurant. Sad sad day when we moved to Eagle, tried to order Chinese from Quik Wok and ended up having to use the China Palace. We were hoping we had an outlier type bad experience, so we tried it again, and it was consistently mediocre. They are the only game in Eagle for Chinese it seems, and in a town full of foodie surprises, China Palace seems to overwhelm. Flavors a little bland, food semi warm, not quite as fresh as you might hope. We are hoping they step up their game and rejuvenate themselves, but in the mean time, we will travel for our Chinese. I always loved this restaurant, it has been a family favorite since 2007. Tonight when I went in and ordered my usual order they looked at me like they had no idea what I was talking about. I ordered generals chicken without the breading. For over a decade it has been delicious with great sauce and lots of onions. What I am eating tonight has no resemblance of generals chicken. Called and told them they said they'd give us a credit next time. Called in an order tonight told them we wanted credit order. Son got home and and the sweet and sour perk and egg roll still missing. I'm writing this review after trying Chinese Palace three times. The food is mediocre at best. Takes so long to get, it's always cold. Cold, every single time. The service is so, so, so slow. It took us an hour and a half tonight to get our food. There's always some excuse. The management needs to change and staff correctly. What a disappointment! read more
