Lunch menu good until 2pm
Monica C.

I've been going to the place across the street for years. Today I decided to come in and I'm glad I did. For Chinese carry out, this place gets 4 stars, I rate by comparing apples to apples. If it weren't for the red tasting sweet and sour sauce and the sweet egg drop soup, it might have been 4.5, if I could give half stars. The food is as good as if not better than the place across the street and the service is definitely 100 times better. Also the restaurant is really nice inside, unlike the place across road, eating in is NOT a good experience, you are literally in the flow of the foot traffic in the store and the tables are close together. Chine Palace has a nice comfortable decor and it's nice enough for a date night with someone you are already in a relationship with. It may even work for a 1st date depending on the situation. I ordered egg drop soup, an egg roll and General Tso chicken. The egg roll was fat and full of meat and veggies and not greasy at all. The egg drop soup was pleasant, it had a slight sweetness to it that I didn't care for. If it weren't for the sweetness, I would definitely have enjoyed it way more than I did. This was too bad, because it really had the potential to be good, lots of egg, nice chunks of carrots and none of that weird viscosity that some soups have from too much corn starch. The General Tso chicken was ok, again better than the place across the road, but not spectacular. I did appreciate the fact that the broccoli had not been steamed into oblivion and even retained some crunch. 2 thumbs up. The dish itself was a bit too sweet and pretty low on the heat scale. I'll definitely try something different my next visit. According to my fortune cookie, I'm going to meet an important person. I do plan on attending a few upcoming events, can't wait to meet someone important. This is my new go to Chinese take out, sorry place across the street - been nice knowing you.

Overfried patty, very greasy shrimp was chewy, beef was tough.

WARNING: Owner Miao Hui Zhang can be Overly sensitive and easily triggered if you critique his food, he was extremely vulgar and unprofessional because I returned an overcooked order!! My family and I are Nebraska Natives. Ever since King Fongs closed down China Palace has been our #1 go to spot for Chinese. We spend about $100 a month there between a few family dinners my wife picks up, and me hitting them on the regular for my lunch dishes and egg drop soup. This has been going on for over 10 years now. On average we spend about $1000 a year there as a family. But apparently that means nothing to the owner because he chose vulgarity and disrespect over a $14 order by saying "Fxxk YOU" to me at the end of our transaction. All my previous encounters with him have been very cordial so I was shocked to see this side of him but I have notice changes. It started in Sept 2021. I would take me and my daughter there after volleyball practice on Wednesdays to eat and the place would be randomly closed without notice on Wednesdays so that was strange. I get egg drop soup from there faithfully. It was the best egg drop soup in town period. Always add green onion. However I notice one night when his wife was there I got the order and I called back asking did they change the recipe, because it taste completely different. She said "you don't like, the broth is lighter that's all, I like it that way.." this confused me because I'm used to consistentancy from them. A few weeks later I order my favorite dish from them, Mongolian Triple Crown. I notice the meat taste different particularly the beef, more chewy. Then I tried to order egg foo young but for several weeks they were out, reason I was giving is, *we're short staffed and short on supplies.* Finally yesterday I called and they had it in. I was excited I've been craving it and there egg foo young is one of the best. I got home and was very disappointed. It was dripping greasy, fried hard. The shrimp was chewy and so was the beef which means it was overcooked. I could only eat half a patty. I was fustrated due to all the weird changes going on and after waiting so long to get my dish I decided to call and let them know. They told me to bring it back and if it's like I say they'll make me another. Mkay, super inconvenient but I was really craving it and wanted it done right like I'm used to so I did. I get there and as soon as the owner comes out he looks at it then looks at me and has such a negative energy. "I don't see nothing wrong with this" He said he'll remake but he felt I'm insulting his reputation. I said "C'mon man you know me, I've been coming for over 10yrs have I ever complained or brung anything back?" He says "It's two hours later the composition of the food changes if you let it sit".. I'm like "I ate it soon as I got home, just didn't have time to rush right back to be further inconvenienced over my order." "I can taste the overcooked burnt patty and chewy shrimp and beef." He snatched it off the counter and throws it in the sink under the counter and says something in his native tongue. I said "Can I just get my money back because I don't like this energy especially if you're gonna go in the back and cook my food where I can't see you." I told him "nobody's perfect, it happens" he said "I am, I try to be perfect and your challenging my reputation." At this point I pull my phone out and record because I absolutely can't believe this experience Im getting from him. Even the other customer there was shocked and said "sir this is not how you treat nor talk to customers." I told him "I don't understand why you are raising your voice at me and using this tone when I have been very polite about this awful experience, I spend good money here." "He said so, I have to spend money too." That made no sense but as he notices I'm recording he stops and says "Aww Fxxk YOU" and walks to the back. I guess 10yrs and thousands of dollars don't mean nothing if I have a one time criticism of his food. The young men at the counter did apologize but at that point we obviously were well past this. Ladies and gentlemen there are other places just as good, but not as conviently close to me, to spend your money with. I suggest Asian Blue and Fly, Gold Mountain, Dragon Wok, Umami and Golden Palace for high quality authentic asian cuisine. Great customer service, I gureentee you won't get cursed out over returning a $14 order. They actually value their customers. They'll just remake it to your liking and tell you thank you come again. Update: After posting other reviews somebody sent me a link from a news article about China Palace Owner Miao Hui Zhang and Jian Zhang the Manager very recently named in a six-figure lawsuit from the Dept of Labor for violating federal minimum wage and overtime laws to their staff. Now it's all starting to make sense. Big Red flags. Well good luck with all that.

Bookguy loves China Palace so when he suggested a late lunch there, I agreed. I have not had Chinese food for quite awhile due to avoiding sodium. So for this lunch I ordered steamed rice and a vegetable egg roll, knowing I would be able to filch broccoli from Bookguy. He ordered Triple Delight which was chicken, beef, and shrimp with Chinese vegetables in brown sauce. He also had a couple shrimp egg rolls and steamed rice. I was right, his meal had broccoli so I put all that green goodness on my plate with some of my rice. No need to add anything since the broccoli was already lightly coated with brown sauce. It wasn't crunchy as it would be if lightly steamed, but the combination worked well. Bookguy always gets Triple Delight because he thinks the three proteins taste great together. As usual he loved it. The egg rolls were crispy on the outside and packed with the filling. I have to say that in my egg roll, I missed the usual chicken flavor since I had ordered the veggie version and the soy sauce that I'm avoiding, but that's just me. China Palace used to have little packets of almond cookies, but apparently not any more. I had been looking forward to those, but made do with a fortune cookie instead.

You can go here and get great Chinese food almost anytime. It's good, real good. They always have a lunch special and you can get it fast. I like the service here as well, they will answer your questions and explain it if necessary. China Palace is always clean and very welcoming.

China Palace - they have it all: great food at a great price point and the best staff on the planet! Whether I get their food delivered to the house or go there for a nice meal, I can always, always count on my Green Bean Chicken being PERFECT. Friends also got Almond Chicken and Mongolian Beef at the table and were great as well. We especially love their Hot Sour Soup -- just wonderful -- with lots of ingredients, not just broth. I'm from Southern California and it reminds me of an Old School Chinese restaurant, kinda campy in interiors, but the food is great.

This is the best Chinese I have had in Omaha. The egg rolls are giant and sooooo good. And that fried rice is a meal on its own. I have been ordering here once a week for a month now! Seriously.....get that rice!!!

We visited Au Courant for the first time this past weekend for my husband's birthday…read more The space is cosy and I really liked the overall ambiance they provided with the lighting (lights did slightly dim at 8). My husband wanted to try the chef's tasting menu but I unfortunately for him wasn't feeling very brave. Just a heads up; if you decide on the chefs tasting menu, everyone at your table needs to do it as well. While slightly less adventurous, we found some truly amazing dishes on their à la carte menu. For a starter, we ended up choosing the featured chovy's egg for the week which included beurre blanc, steelhead roe, and turnip. While I didn't try this myself, my husband enjoyed it. For the rest of the meal we decided to share the fagottini which was filled short rib and was placed on a bed of sweet potato with caramelized onion. The flavors on this were so delicious. The red wine they used was perfect. Next, came the pappardelle bolognese with basil and parmigiano. Again, amazing. So flavorful and so many different textures which elevated the dish so much. Last was our agreed upon favorite, the picanha that was served with a wonderful grilled/smoked cabbage and topped with hollandaise (though I think the menu said it was served with spinach and potato). I loved everything about this dish. The meat was cooked to absolute perfection and the cabbage (a total unsung hero) was delectable! I would 1000% get this dish again. We also both had their Raspberry Beret which was fantastic. A perfect summer drink. They have a little fun with their featured drinks; if the song they are named after is played during your visit, the drink is half-off! While Prince didn't end up serenading us, I do always love a little challenge! Our server was very friendly along with each staff member who brought our various dishes to us. Wow is all I have to say after visiting. I haven't loved everything I've eaten at a restaurant in such a long time. Will definitely be back!

Hidden treasure in the heart of Old Mill. As my friend said, "more people need to know about this…read moreplace." All of the food is made to order, and it's authentic Louisiana fare. Friendly staff, decent bar, and great meals. Budget-friendly food that's better than the standard whatever you're used to. Cool vibe - can't wait to go back. Also - check out their reverse happy hours - weirdly early and extra-late. Great deals. Cheers!

The interior is a little boxy, but with lots of decor like chandeliers with Mardi Gras beads hanging down, some uplighting, and cute New Orleans pictures on the walls. Our favorite little side/app, are the Boudin Balls, which are kind of like hush puppies, but with a nice helping of remoulade on top. Yum! My fave go-to entree is the Five Pepper Cream pasta, which is fettuccini tossed in a creamy creole sauce, with a huge breaded filet of blackened chicken on top. Another favorite is the Creole Mac, which is a Mac and Cheese, but with a spicy sauce/spices on top, and filled with andouille sausage as well as sliced, grilled chicken. It definitely has a kick, so if you're averse to any heat, then maybe choose something else. And lastly, I sometimes get the Cajun Meatloaf, if I'm feeling like a heavier dish. It is meatloaf, like you've obviously had a million times, but it is sitting in a dish full of grits and sweet potatoes, and topped with a creamy white béchamel sauce. They also have a lunch size portion of this, which I appreciate. And each entree comes with a little slice of cheesy bread, that's great to dip in the extra sauce of your dish! We sometimes also get the desserts, and they have a great crème brûlée and bananas foster. It's hard to find a good bananas foster in Omaha, and theirs is really good, and very large! The service we have had has always been pretty good, but we did have a weird encounter with one server recently. She made a joke about something (I can't even remember what it was), but it was a little bit poking fun at my husband. It was fine and we all laughed a little at it, but what was weird was that she kept coming over and repeating it over and over in different ways. It was a little annoying and awkward. The owner (I think?) was walking around making sure everything was ok and chatting with each table, so he was great - no complaints there. I will say the only other drawback is that it definitely is not an inexpensive place to eat, so you can't return TOO often. But when you do, you better come hungry and it needs to be a special treat. Acadian Grille is one of only a few creole/cajun restaurants in Omaha, so definitely give them a try if you are looking for that style of food - or know it and want to find it in Omaha!

I've been to this location before but it's been a while and we really enjoyed coming back. Came in on a Saturday afternoon when it's fairly typical to have live mariachi bands roving the restaurant. The restaurant is large, and has a fun fiesta of decor. We were pleasantly greeted and quickly seated without reservations. It should be noted that they will take reservations during the week, but not on weekends. There are a number of large tables that can accommodate bigger groups. Complementary parking lot is available out front. However, it does get a little tight during their busy times. This is an interesting Mexican restaurant as it reminds me of something more typical of what you would find on the Yucatán peninsula. Shrimp and mixed ceviche dishes, a large variety of fish dishes, including whole fish that are very traditional for that part of Mexico. They also serve excellent salsa and guacamole, however, this is not the type of Mexican restaurant you can order dishes of queso, or some of the more traditional dishes that you would find at other, more Americanized restaurants. Our server, Christine V was super! We got there a little early in order to secure a larger table off to the side since our infant granddaughter is going to be joining us for a birthday celebration. This restaurant well they don't allow you to bring it outside cakes for dessert offer a variety of desserts that can be offered for special occasions. We were able to select a strawberry Tres Leche cake, which was just perfect for the occasion. We also enjoyed their margaritas, which were excellent and offered in the variety of enormous proportions! Everything that was ordered, was generous in quantity and delicious and quality that included a variety of fajitas and shrimp dishes. This location also offers seafood rolls that are prepared at a sushi counter. For those that are a little less brave there are a number of options that offer everything cooked and prepared just like you would find in any local sushi restaurant and as good. The one thing I also love about this restaurant is that it is immaculately clean. There's a dedicated crew that roams and never leaves anything unbussed for long. Everything appears to be wiped, sanitized, and swept in between every round of customers which is brisk. The manager came around and checked on us to ensure we have everything we need and offered us to go bags. Everything about this visit was very positive. Highly recommend this location as it's been voted one of the best of Omaha for 2023.
