Even after the low reviews, I wanted to give this place a try. I saw someone post the chow foon from years back, and it caught my eye. First time came for takeout to be safe and the chow foon... amazing! Great portion and taste was perfect. Next two times, I sat at the bar. Bartender was super nice and funny. I hesitate at first since he had such bad review himself. He started joking around with the customers sitting around me then started joking around with me. The customers asked about his family so there are quite a few repeats. Tried some other dishes but always routed me back to the chow foon. We had dinner at the China Palace last nite. The food was OK. However, they charged each person $3 for tea. All other Chinese restaurants tea is free. The price of some items was double than other places. Soup was $7; the same size soup at other restaurants is $3.95. BAD service. The waitress acted like we were an inconvenience. She had no personality. We had to call her over to ask for more water, mustard, etc. We will not return. Beware, they charged extra for everything. We asked the waitress could we sample the wine before buying a glass, after some eye rolling she begrudgingly splashed a teaspoon of $6 a bottle Chardonnay into a glass. When the food came we learned non of the meals came with rice and that we had to pay extra for the luxury of eating white rice with the watery flavorless sauces she'd put down on our table. My favorite watering hole in Sandwich. Can't beat their Mai Tais (both taste and strength) and they're so cheap to boot! I love coming here for a quick, quiet drink while I wait for takeout to bring home to the family. The food is solid, old-school Chinese; their crab rangoons are to die for. I love CP so much, it's where my family and I came to celebrate my acceptance into law school as opposed to the more "special" places in town. I'm a fan of their egg drop soup as well.. nice and thick with lumps of egg and it actually has flavor! ... when I went, I got the egg foo young.. (as you can see from the photo) it was actually a LOT of food compacted into that one cake, the presentation was nice and it tasted great. Want the best Mai Thai on Cape? Look no further. Want to go nuts with a Scorpion bowl for one or two? Belly up and knock 'em down. (In the center of the scorpion bowl there is a hollow that they will put Bacardi 151%, but you have to ask.) Good "Chinese" food. Boneless or Bone-in ribs are great, Crab Rangoons are good as well. This place has the brown, appley tasting dipping sauce so it's up to you if you want it or not. I have never sat on the restaurant side but there really is no need as the bar side has ample table space as well as a clean bar. They did lose their liquor license a few months back, but it was probably due to serving minors rather than any food violations. (not that serving minors is ok, but at least no one found a rat in their chow mien.) Sandwich is a small "townie" place so the young en's don't have much to do most evenings. read more

Extremely rude and unbelievably disrespectful service. My wife and I went there to have a nice lunch. When it came time to order, my wife informed the waitress that she does not eat pork or any seafood. The woman understood and my wife asked if there was any pork in the chicken wanton soup, again, telling the waitress she doesn't eat pork. The waitress assured her that there was no pork at all, only chicken. A few bites in after getting the meal my wife saw many pieces of pork in her soup. She explained to the server that she specifically asked for no pork and the woman just walked away mid sentence to go talk to a manager. She came back and told us we still had to pay for the food. When my wife explained that she could get sick from eating the pork the waitress again turned her back to my wife mid sentence to go talk to the manager. While eating a bowl of food the manager yelled across the room, "go to hospital!". They did not offer to comp the meal or apologize and offer her something else on the menu for free. Any time we tried to talk to the waitress, she would just turn her back to us and walk away in the middle of the conversation. The rudeness that we experienced at this "restaurant" was disgusting. I would never recommend this place to anyone. The employees do not care about the customers. Spend your money at a real restaurant, not this pathetic excuse of a place to eat. read more

Joe has the worst personality but makes the best Mai-tais. Occasionally will serve warmed-up leftover food. Connie is the heart of the business and is very pleasant, but Joe's got to go. I've tried to give this place another chance for sentimental reasons. My son and I use to love this place. It was our treat. I Stopped in to order take out and get it home hoping it would be hot. I was there to retrieve the bag right out of the kitchen and food was still cold. Pork fried rice was hard. The family style tofu we got had under cooked meat and over cooked tofu. VERY STINGY ON THE DUCK SAUCE, MUSTARD, AND SOY SAUCE. I ordered 70 dollars worth of food including a pupu platter, chicken fingers, rice, and lomein among others and they gave me one packet of soy sauce 2 really small duck sauces and a small mustard. Obviously, not enough to go around. Not the first time they were stingy with the sauces. No use complaining. The last time I ordered I got rice and chow mein and they gave me no sauces. When I called they told me since I didn't order any appetizers it did not come with sauce. This is the worst Chinese place I have ever been to. I'm at about 140 reviews presently, this could also be the worst place overall. As I explained to my fiancé, she likes this place because of the sentimental attachment she has to it (she agrees). I'm thinking many people must feel this way. And we kept it simple folks. Came here around dinner time last Saturday, got the Pupu platter (the words pupu have never been more accurate), pork fried rice and Singapore mei fun - which they call something bizarre on the menu, but the very Chinese waitress was not familiar with term mei fun - which is concerning in itself. I don't care if the English is broken, it's all good, but shit at least understand a little English. And how do you mess up an egg roll? Crab Rangoon - since when is this 100% cream cheese and not even a sliver of crab? It's not worth talking about the "food" any further. Although there was about 4-5 wine bottles on the menu, they did not offer them this evening - they ran out. So we went by the glass, that also ran out after 4 glasses. And we asked for any red wine - all out. How the puck do you run out of wine? All these reviews keep talking about this epic bar, lol. And Jesus Christ, I almost forgot about the doggie bag. They used 4 containers, when they could have maybe stuffed it into 6. All four containers were pretty much open, with food sticking out. The two containers of sauce both opened in the bag and leaked on the floor of my car. Morons. I tried to keep an open mind, and didn't expect much. Still ended up being terribly disappointed, and annoyed once I saw how the pieces of sh#t packed the food. I know this place has been around for a while, but it can't possible last. Folks, time does not heal. We can't believe we went back. Have literally been out dining over 4,000 times over the past 45 years. By far, THE WORST SERVICE EVER. 1.) Asked the waitress about an item on the menu, she started to answer and walked away during her answer leaving us still wondering. 2.) Too long to take dinner order. 3.) When delivering dinner she never asked if we needed anything else. It was clear our drinks were emptied. Just drop the dinner and go. We had to go to the bar to get a second cocktail to bring back to the table. 4.) Never checked in us to see how are dinner was or again, to see if we needed anything else. 5.) After we were finished we waited at least 10 minutes with our cash at the edge of the table while both waitresses kept passing by our table glancing over clearly seeing we were done and ready to go. And folks, there were very few patrons in the restaurant, it was nearly empty. 6.) Our waitress finally picked up our cash sitting next to both our empty water glasses. There was no check presented...just took our cash. She brought our change back w guyith no receipt. She didn't say thank you for coming or I hope you enjoyed your dinner. She just walked away. She never even cleared our dinner plates. The best advice, STAY AWAY!!! The management could care less about customer service or reciews. My wife and I worked in restaurants early on. We understand what creates good service and what customers expect even at a very minimum in order to keep coming back to a restaurant. This restaurant, as demonstrated by the many one star reviews it has received for its service is the poster child for what you don't want to do to your customers. This literally is what restaurant chains would want to show their wait staff in training what NOT TO DO while waiting on their patrons. So, a first....we were so stunned we wrote down a list and handed it to the bartender manager at the cash register. He looked about 2 seconds at it and through it in the bottom of the cash register. I asked, "are you the manager" and he replied yes. I asked if he even cared about what we had to say. He replied, "you have to talk to the owner" and then got the note back out of the cash register and said "here, write down your number, if the owner wants to call you her will call you". Let it suffice to say that as I was walking up to the front door to gather my take out, my gut told me to turn around and walk away. It looks like the prototypical, dirty, old Chinese restaurant. (Having ignored my gut, several hours later, and for a period of about 12 hours to follow, my gut had its revenge!) Specifically, the food was as bad as any other American-Chinese food I have ever had--flavorless (despite my explicit and twice repeated request for VERY SPICY), goopy and comprised of low quality ingredients. The egg rolls were cold and bland, the "General's Chicken" was of the variety that is 90% fried breading and 10% vaguely chickeny meat bits (clearly frozen), and the fried rice tasted like hot, dirty water. The service was awful. The waitress' would look at me as I tried to get there attention. Then would walk away. I found a long white hair in my food. And when we told the waitress she ask where it was. And the manager didn't come over to apologize or try to keep any sort of business. When we asked to speak to him. It took him almost 20 minutes to come over. Then tried to say it was my own hair, which was held up and back in a pony tail and head band. Then tried saying it was my boyfriends. Attempting to purchase $80+ order over the phone. Wanted to pay with credit card, however, they "Don't take credit cards over the phone." We order at least once a week. Son-in-law was going to pick up order since he was already in the area. You're either in business or you're not. Not going back. Plus, they don't deliver.
