This is typically a great restaurant to eat at, but we got takeout tonight and it was not good. They forgot every single side, even the ones that were meant to be included with the meals and were listed on the menu. If you're getting takeout, I would recommend checking your meal before leaving. When I called about the missing sides, the workers on the phone were apologetic and kind, but their only solution was for us to come pick up the sides they had forgotten. We had already gotten home (15 minutes away), so that wasn't going to happen. The $50 worth of food, not including tip, ended up being mediocre without the sides. We will end up going back because the service, food, and drinks are usually great, but we were disappointed tonight. read more

Live music here on a Wednesday from 7-9pm, he was as awesome. the bartender was also hilarious, sweet and helpful with some food recommendations. we got the brussel sprouts app... yum 8/10. so crispy so salty. I got the mac and cheese with broccoli mixed in and a side of hot sauce. REALLY creamy and cheesy. quite rich, tasty, filling (i brought half to go). not the BEST mac because i'm a mac snob but Id give it a solid 7/10. -1 cuz i hate ritz topping but i should have just order without it. my bf got the blackened salmon tacos 6.5/10. decent enough. not the best, not the worst. side of onion rings slapped too, 8/10. What a fantastic find! 'The Local' lives up to its name -- packed with friendly locals, a welcoming vibe, and even a corner selling Powerball tickets and their own merch. You immediately feel like you're part of the neighborhood. And of course... you've got to enjoy a sandwich in Sandwich! Our daughter recommended this spot after loving it during a visit with a friend, so we made a point to stop by on our way to Provincetown. We're so glad we did. The food was delicious, the service was quick, and every staff member we met was genuinely warm. It absolutely lived up to the hype. If you're anywhere near Cape Cod, this place is worth the detour. I usually have low expectations of seasonal establishments but I along with the 19 other guys who came with me for a bachelor party were blown away. The food was all we talked about this weekend. The fajitas should compete with chilis, they were flavorful and nice portion, the chicken and waffles was hot crispy and the sauce was delicious, and the burger was solid with their own sauce. The wings with the local hot sauce should compete with any wings in the cape. If you are in the area check them out. The server was super friendly and kind to all of us, super attentive. I visited The Local Tavern and Grill twice during the first week of August, and it was always busy with a great atmosphere. They have a very good bar menu--I tried the salmon and the burger on separate visits, and both were tasty and well-prepared. The bartenders, though incredibly busy, took great care of me and were efficient and friendly throughout. They also had live music, which added to the lively vibe. The beer selection was solid, and they had great IPA and non-alcoholic options, too. On one of my visits, I enjoyed their healthy Manhattan. Overall, it was a comfy, welcoming place. Nice spot to grab lunch. Found it when I went to The Chew and discovered they are presently closed. This place is up the street. I got a small pulled pork pizza which was a special. To be clear, I have been a regular customer since the change from the BBC. Initially, the food and service were great. Staff was pleasant, service was timely, drinks were well made. I'm not sure what's happened, but there has been a steady decline in both food and service. I ordered chicken fajitas, the meal arrived with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, average salsa and sour cream. The skillet had lots (and I mean a lot) of peppers, onions and old stale rice. The chicken was sliced so thin, and barely a few ounces, that I was unable to make 1 fajita. I told the waitstaff that I wanted to return the meal and get a chicken sandwich. She said, I can just have the kitchen make you a chicken breast. Ok, fine. She returned with a plate of old brown pieces of chicken. Absolutely disgusting. As a waitress, I would have been embarrassed. I will never go there again. There are plenty of good restaurants in and around Sandwich to blow $50 on a drink and meal. read more

Stopped by right before the dinner rush and was seated right away. Wait staff was friendly and very accommodating and answered all our questions. We started with a couple of cocktails. I the High Limb Cape Daze (Lemonade Cider) and my wife the frozen Margarita. We then ordered the Mexican street corn dip. It was very tasty but was a little to cheesy for me. For dinner my wife ordered the Steak Tips with rice and broccoli, there was an option to add peppers, mushrooms or onions for an upcharge, but she decided against it. Steak was a little under for medium but she decided to keep it anticipating to reheat it later for another meal. I ordered the Fried Haddock and was very satisfied. We used to go here when it was the British Beer Company. We're not from the cape but visit once a year. Were were pleasantly surprised at with The Local! Our Server, Chris, was amazing! The food was delicious. The restaurant was full but well organized. We didn't have reservations but were seated within a1/2 hour. Staff was courteous and helpful. My wife had the serloin tips with Asparagus and mashed potatoes. The steak was a perfect medium for her. The asparagus was not hard or stringy. The mashed potatoes were excellent too! I had the Local burger on a brioche bun with tomatoes, peppers, onions, and fries. It also was a perfect medium for me. The fries were great and the burger was delicious. Since the "chef" has the entire week off (yay!), I decided to do a conventional "bang-bang" (see Louis CK) tonight for dinner. First stop, dollar oysters, an adult beverage and a lovely view of a foggy Cape Cod Canal at Fisherman's View (on the Canal) and then over to The Local (46 MA-6A), both in Sandwich, for a few courses. For those demand brevity, I offer my customary "Cliff Notes" review: sweet and lightly briny oysters, a properly poured Guinness, delicious pork dumplings, and an old-fashioned treat--turkey croquettes with turkey gravy, excellent, friendly service seated at the both in the both places. For those with an affection for the written word, let's commence the review. I arrived just at 5 pm at Fisherman's View, which has been widely reviewed on this site, to enjoy the view, possibly some chatter in the bar, and a Campari with seltzer and lime. I find that the slight bitterness of a Campari Spritz makes a good taste foil for the sweetness and salinity of an oysters. Plenty of seats at the bar, but there were quite a few people there already tucking into their oysters. I ordered a drink and a half a dozen oysters to start, I would end up enjoying and figured that was sufficient for a pre-appetizer appetizer. Lucked out in that they were serving Wellfleet oysters today (the source of their oysters varies which is fun); Wellfleet are one of my favorites. A slightly sweet front of the mouth taste, which just a hint of brine at the back of the mouth. They were served with lemon (which is really all you need, just a drop or two) as well as cocktail sauce and horseradish and a French mignonette sauce. Had a lengthy conversation with a woman visiting from out of state (though she grew up on Cape), whose family still owns one of the most famous bookstores on the Upper Cape. She was enjoying a beer while waiting for a large take-out order to be prepared. Fun. I spent longer there than I had intended, so left around 6 pm and drove the 3 minutes to The Local. While I had enjoyed some pizza at The Local as part of a large group back in January I had not eaten a meal there and was looking forward to one particular dish on their menu--the turkey croquettes. My mother used to make these following nearly every Thanksgiving meal, ground turkey meat mixed with some leftover mashed potatoes, some seasonings, shaped into a conical form, breaded and then deep fried. Back in the 60s, along with things like Salisbury steak, franks and baked beans, and fried ham slices, croquettes--either chicken or turkey--served with gravy were ubiquitous items on so many menus throughout new England. They're very hard to find now. It's been maybe 45 years since I ate a turkey croquette and I was looking for that taste memory. The Local was already pretty busy, but I managed to snag the lone available seat at what is a pretty sizable bar. Pam was behind the bar and what a lovely professional she is. I assume, from her interactions with a number of patrons as well ad the deference given to her by the other wait staff behind the bar that she's the leader in that realm. I knew what I wanted but too a minute to look over the menu one more time as well as their sheet of specials for the evening. I ordered my first course--a Guinness on tap. Now I say "course" because Guinness is truly a nutritious meal in a glass. I'd not had a Guinness on tap since were in Ireland back in 2019. I watched Pam pour and immediately recognized the technique. A proper pour requires patience to allow the beer to settle and foam in stages. I don't know if Pam was trained in Galway, Dingle or Dublin, but she knew what she was doing. What a taste treat. Pam took my order--pork dumplings to be followed by the turkey croquettes--and then asked if I was in a hurry. I was not and she then wisely said that she'd wait to put in the order for the croquettes until after the dumplings had arrived. Perfect, fine by me, I enjoy pacing myself and was enjoying the lively vibe of the place. I should mention that in addition to big screens showing Keno (which I still have no idea how to play) and two different sports stations, they have a big scream which streams "Jaws." No sound of course, but most of us probably have seen that movie often enough to know all the words by heart anyway. lol The pork dumplings arrived in short order, so Pam was wise to delay ordering the croquettes. The wrappers were slightly thicker than "thin" but not so thick that is distracted from the nice melding of traditional flavors in the pork dumpling itself--ground pork, green onion, grated fresh ginger, Shaoxing rice wine, sesame oil and perhaps some white pepper. Dumplings, called Jiao Zi, are a stable in the cuisine of Northern China, filled with all sorts of things, but pork is classic. These were excellent. Dumplings are typically dipped into a sauce, leaving it up to the dinner to determine how sauce they'd like with their dumplings. The dumplings I enjoyed read more

Drinks,appetizers, and entrees all great from start to finish generous portions the food was delicious we tried their special appetizer which was crab stuff mushrooms fabulous!!! The nachos were massive, and could have fed 6 people. I especially liked the dumplings and I definately would order them again. Our table ordered the fenway pizza yummy cooked just right and my sister ordered the ribeye cooked medium rare she said it was absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. We tried two different margs and both were great the blackberry and Harvest margaritas are a must try!! It was our first time at The Local, but we have been hearing good things. Everything we have heard was true! Our server was super nice and helpful. While the dining area was a bit loud, it was gameday and the place was packed! It was what you would expect in a pub atmosphere. We started with fried cauliflower with dipping sauces and the crab cake poppers. Lovely. The breading was nice and crispy and not a hint of grease. Our entrees were cooked perfectly. The salmon had a wonderful glaze, and the croquettes were slightly crunchy on the outside and filled with hunks of turkey and goodness in a wonderful gravy. The mashies....yum! We were both surprised at how good the broccoli was. Yeah, I know it is broccoli. LOL. But it had a hint of a bittery sauce on it, which really ramped it up. I went for lunch. We sat in the bar area. Cozy atmosphere. My friend and I ordered the Winter salad. It was very good. Lots of walnuts, kale and goat cheese. Bread was not offered to the table which surprised me. We each had a beer and it was 60 dollars with a tip. 48 dollars for 2 salads a beers. Seems like a lot for lunch. That's the reason 3 stars. We have tried to go to this place on both weekdays and weekends multiple times at 9:00. They say they are open until 12:00. Each time they lock the front door and "close" early af. This past time, we went in at 9 as another group was exiting so we didn't know it was locked. There were tons of people inside getting food and drinks, it was not last call. We asked the bartender if we could order and she said yes then we were cut off by I assume a big manager man and he said "no" and that they were closing. Ok local, not impressed.
