My husband and I came here for the first night of our honeymoon. Gorgeous views of the water. It was a little chilly so we sat inside. We started with a smoke show, sandy neck sippah, dozen oysters and the wonton tuna nachos. Both cocktails were delicious. Oysters were fresh and the tuna nachos were great. I had a bowl of clam chowder and my husband had the grilled mahi tacos. The clam chowder was delicious; it had a nice whipped texture. The tacos were good. The crab roll was very good. A Bloody Mary in a lowball glass? Anyway the server was great. I like the decor and it's close to the Marina after being on the water. I would not order the tempura fish sandwich again. The construction of the sandwich is heavy with a large hamburger roll. Traditional tempura is a light batter. This was more like beer battered. And the topping wasn't enough or carried flavor enough for the fish. My homemade potato chips w a dusting of wasabi, I did not taste any wasabi. I think I'd come back and try something else. Came here after docking the yacht in the Sandwich Marina. Ordered the Chicken corn chowder and the Stuffed Codfish. Both were great. They both came out hot and lots of time to enjoy the chowder before the main dish was presented. Sat at the bar because when I'm by myself you meet more people. Plus no need to take up a table at a busy restaurant. The bar tender Dean was pleasant. Made great menu suggestions, and always checked to see I there was anything else I needed. I was so excited to go to the Pilot House for lunch, as many times before, and have a lobster roll, but unfortunately, that didn't happen. I wish it had more flavor and less mayo. I wish the New England-style roll- oh wait, it wasn't and I wish the roll was toasted with melted butter. Guests come in from all over the world and expect a New England lobster roll, and they are not getting it, but you figure they don't know any better. Shame on you guys! read more

They had a really big space with open windows where you could see the boats it was a nice view. They also had a bar area where you could sit and order as well. We started with the oysters which were small but they were very fresh and tasty. For dinner I had the special which was shrimp, scallop, and lobster ravioli with a creamy sauce that was really nice and not overbearing. This place is huge as the summer demand on the Cape is quite high. I'm sure the kitchen is chaos on the weekend, and I found a full strand of hair (not a small piece) in my risotto. Nasty, yes, but the response was so muted, it put me off. No effusive apology. They replaced the dish (quickly), charged me full price with no offer of accommodation, free dessert (we didn't order any and they didn't offer), or even a coupon to come back. It didn't feel like an unusual event, which worried me. Prior to that, the "mocktail" was little more than club soda and lemon ($10). Watermelon salad with honey mustard? Didn't really work. Stellar, Consistently Attentive Service!! The entire team of hosts, waitstaff, chefs, bartenders, etc appeared to work together effortlessly. Even on a Thursday night during prime tourist season (August), we would never have guessed there was a wait longer than ten minutes! Sam (our hostess) was incredibly welcoming, and took the time to insure everyone felt comfortable. The entire team of hosts were Incredibly cooperative and approachable. Our server, Anne, was patient, helpful and kind. She not miss a step when serving rounds of beverages, appetizers and meals. The food was outstanding. Diners in our party enjoyed clam chowder, grilled chicken Caesar salad, a fried chicken sandwich, a Reuben with fries, and baked "dayboat scallops" (served with mashed potatoes and steamed veggies). I recommend the zero proof mocktail made with lavender and lemonade. Next time we will definitely save room for dessert!! The ocean breeze can be cool. We had to wait for 45 min on a Saturday night which was not terrible considering we had our dog with us. They have outdoor seating with benches to accommodate us as I believe only the 3 bench tables by the sign are pet friendly. Food was fresh- we got the oyster seafood tower/platter-$65 but it was worth it...oysters were so fresh. We also go the seafood pot pie--so much seafood- scallops, lobster and shrimp with asparagus- I would totally get this again! Steamers were nice and big and again fresh- not sandy at all!! Visiting friends and they took us here the night we arrived after a lovely walk to the water through salt marshes nearby. The parking lot was packed but we got a table immediately at 6:30 on a Sunday night (most people sat outside, we didn't ). The interior was perfect for the location, dark blue and white with fitting artwork. The view of the water and sunset was wonderful through the huge windows. Even the tables and chairs were attractive and comfortable (and spaced well apart, didn't feel crowded at all). Our server was attentive and everything came quickly. The lobster corn chowder was perfection and everyone enjoyed their meals. Lobster Rangoon was also delicious as were the salads, scallops and Brussel sprouts around our table. I was excited to try this place, the location is perfect! Unfortunately, we were beyond disappointed. We opted to sit at the bar, as soon as I sat down a bartender brought me a menu, he didn't say hello or can I get you a drink he dropped the menu and went to chat with a friend on the outside of the bar. Eventually an older bartender brought us a second menu and took our drink order. She waited on us the rest of the night, she was great. The food was not as good as we hoped. I had the drunken shrimp tacos (which really should be an appetizer) had zero flavor and left me hungry, my boyfriend had fish and chips which were dry and lacked flavor. Our waitress was incredibly friendly. We had a hard time deciding what to order because we were also trying to take pictures of the beautiful sunset. She was very patient with us the whole time. Everything we ordered was legit! The Ahi Sandwich was one of the most delicious we can remember. The lobster tacos were also good--$32 for two might seem steep, but the portion of lobster was fair. The Thai mussels were amazing! We asked for some bread to dip in the sauce, and our wonderful waitress made it happen. This is one of my favorite spots on the cape. Probably because I have some early wonderful memories of dating my boyfriend and going here. I love the tropical drinks and the fish tacos. The sweet potato fries are amazing too. I've never had a bad meal here! It's always worth the wait if there is one. They run a tight ship and try to move people in and out effectively without making them feel rushed. I love both the inside and outside bar, and all of the seating is nice. I found Pilot House to be very underwhelming - In the food, service, & atmosphere. I think the most unfortunate part about our dining experience was specifically where we were sat. Our party of four was sat at a metal table in the grass literally outside the fence that surrounded the outdoor patio. It felt like the table was a strange afterthought to just get the restaurant more covers. The service also felt like an afterthought, but probably at no fault to the servers. We were just ... Out there. In the grass & the dark. Easily forgettable. The quality of the food was fine, but not up to par with the prices. I got the fish tacos & it came out to around $10 per taco ... No sides or anything. Ouch. There was live music going on inside & the house was packed which is a great sign. We particularly enjoyed the band's version of "Sk8er Boi" by Avril Lavigne that we could hear from outside. Rock on. My conclusion is that I probably wouldn't come back here again. I understand it has appeal for certain age groups (18-23 year olds galore) but the bang wasn't worth the buck for me. read more

Very good seafood platter - we got it with gluten free breading and it was very light yet crispy. They asked whether I was celiac or gluten sensitive - I answered the latter and they mentioned there was cross contamination as an FYI. Not sure what the answer would have been if it was celiac. It didn't have much of a pesto flavor, but the overall flavor (whatever it was) was soooo good. I would definitely order again! Pilot House is legit! I came here with a big group on a Thursday night in July and it was pretty busy. We sat inside, but I wish we had planned ahead to get an outdoor table because the vibes out there were amazing, with a nice view of the water. In terms of food, everything hit the spot. Somehow I got a picture of all the food on the table, except for me own... guess I was really hungry! I had the Big Bubba Ribs, which were delicious and came with sweet potato fries. My friends all enjoyed their entreés, especially anything with seafood. The staff was really sweet and brought out a slice of cake for my friend's birthday to cap off the meal. Pro tip: If you can't get a table outside, stop by the outdoor bar area for a drink and enjoy the views! read more

Have heard good things about The Pilot House so we decided to give it a try on our anniversary. The hostess was nice and friendly and very accommodating when my wife requested a table by a window. Anne our waitress was superb and on top of things. We started out with two cocktails, one was a lemon drop martini and we do not recall what the other was called. Both were very good and tasty. This is where things go just OK food wise. In our opinion the food was just meh, flavorless and not worth the cost at all. We understand that you are also paying for the view and don't mind paying the high end prices as long as the flavor is there. For our Appetizers we ordered the mussels and clams casino. We have had better mussels at other establishments where we have asked for extra bread to soak up the liquid. Not so on this occasion. The clams casino were just ok but not worth $20. For our dinner my wife got the Cape Cods Rueben and I the Crispy Cod Sandwich, which again lacked flavor and was not crispy at all. Maybe it was an off night everyone has those, but we are willing to give it another try. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants on the Cape! We were a party of eight for a mid-afternoon lunch on a Saturday. We were sat right away on the patio. Skylar was our server, and she was fantastic! We ordered Brussels sprouts, oysters on the half shell and tuna wonton nachos to start. The tuna wonton nachos are cravable!
