This is saying a lot because we rarely go out anymore since the pandemic ended and most places' prices shot up, selections and portion sizes declined, and service became nonexistent. Not here! Portions are hearty, prices are very manageable, ambiance is great, food and service are outstanding. While we'd love to have a Chinese buffet in this area (we have to go to Santa Maria for that), we are very very satisfied with this restaurant and its people (particularly William!) working there. We always can count on a good experience, plenty of comfortable booth seating, a spacious room where customers aren't on top of each other, very convenient parking right out front, etc. We have no bad things to say! read more

!CAUTION! I was craving Chinese food and this place is the only place for Chinese in Solvang, so our family ordered it for dinner. First off, the food was expensive and almost every thing we ordered was not good at all. Watery, bland, and gross as if it was frozen and reheated. But the WORST part was that it gave me food poisoning! Everyone else had just stomachaches thankfully, but I had every single fp symptom there is and had to miss work because of it. So I spent $100+ on food just for it to come back up hours later and then lost wages from being too sick to work the next day. This place is the only Chinese food near Solvang, and it did not disappoint! We are from LA and while it cannot be compared to SGV, we were pleasantly surprised. The flavors were authentic - not over sauced, not over salted, not over sweetened. We got take out for my family of 4 including an auntie, husband, and toddler. We're Chinese / Korean. The mabo tofu was surprisingly my favorite dish. It has the numbing spiciness flavor. The beef chow fun was better than it looked too with tender beef and lots of onions. The kung pao chicken was nothing like the Americanized version. It consisted of tender chicken and subtle flavors that weren't overly sauced. The staff was very pleasant and the food was prepared promptly. I would definitely go back! My aunt from China really liked it! I hate giving a negative review, but the food was terrible. Either the chef was having a bad day or didn't know how to make Chinese food. We ordered Shrimp Egg Foo Young, shrimp with black bean sauce, Happy Family, Egg Rolls, & Hot & Sour soup. The egg foo young patties were so bad I threw them out. The black bean sauce was watery with maybe 5 black beans in the dish. Nothing but chopped onions & green peppers. No water chestnuts, boc choy, or bean sprouts. My husband ate some of the Happy Family dish, then threw the rest out. I will say he liked the Hot & sour soup and the Spring Rolls were okay. Supporting local businesses I went to the fake China Panda Restaurant and the experience was totally bad. Stop! No! Do not go to this place, an unpleasant fake Chinese restaurant. If you visited Solvang, you better drive 5 minutes more around to find any other true Panda Express, but never China Panda Restaurant 1. Two individuals cook and take the orders. Clean, cash, and serve. It takes 1 hour to order. 2. The both guys are super busy. 3. The chicken orange was the worst of all my life. No color, flavor, acid-type chemical, or navigating in dense water. 4. Fry Rice was acid with a ton of hard white onions. The rice was almost sticky and without residual egg. It lacks vegetable, ginger, oil flavor, or salt. It was not fried at all but boiled rice only. 5. The chow main was almost Italian pasta. Watering pasta is almost white with the flavor of water and all with a yellow liquid. And acid. Why? 6. WanTan soup. It was water with a few veggies in a gallon bowl. 7 Attitude. I was sad and furious inside, but I considered my wife to be constructive when making my comments. The gentleman was polite but never apologized. The lady was charismatic but avoided my good and soft comments, blaming Williams, the manager. I said: you have a good opportunity with a restaurant in this area, but consider that you need help because the food is not the best. Good food and good service, glad we found this place especially after 9pm. The place is large and has plenty of seating. The food is real good and it surprised me as I was expecting less! We originally wanted Panda Express but they closed at 9pm and found this place on yelp!the service was on point and my water was never half empty! The beef pan fried noodles had good flavor and was a good sized portion. And the broccoli and beef was nice choice as well. The chicken with green beans with black bean sauce was a little salty but wasn't bad. If your passing by this place on the way to Solvang you should give it a try. read more

A great family business that we found while in Solvang! The service is great and the food tastes amazing! We ordered sesame chicken, sautéed mixed vegetables, yang chao fried rice, shrimp with egg, and snow peas. I loved the yang chao because they added young corn and sprouts! We eat so much chinese food that I haven't seen yang chao fried rice made with more ingredients before. And the sesame chicken had the right amount of sauce! Stopped in at Buellton for a short stay and found China Panda to be quite good Chinese food. Tasty dish of chow fun was very close to the home cooked flavor my Cantonese mom would make. We also had hot & sour soup that is better than many we find in Los Angeles, really liked the bamboo shoots and wood ear mushrooms giving authentic texture. Shrimp with lobster sauce is a bit different to any I've had, the peas and carrots impart too much sweet taste over the savory-ness I usually expect; perhaps adding a bit of black bean would make it balanced. It was early evening when we arrived, it seemed only the owner\manager and one server on duty, yet the service is very fast and we were well cared for throughout our dinner. China Panda is one of those places, tucked away, down an improbable side street in Buellton. PLUS, as a vegan/plant based eater, it's almost perfect, the choices so plentiful and the willingness to always go the extra bit to please you. Take out, particularly right now during this era of Covid, their protocols instill confidence and WOW, to sit in front of the tv, going NETFLIX crazy, again, there is simply nothing better than "Old Fashioned Chinese Food!!!". This is why there are no pictures, food doesn't look very good in plastic "clam shells" after driving home and replating, that will be another time. William, the owner, was also a very genuinely sweet person when he served me at the restaurant, not to mention the food was amazing. More like 3.25. Came by because the woman wanted Asian food. Not much of choice around here. Ordered the sizzling rice soup, beef chow fun, and Kung Pao chicken lunch special. Received the spring roll dish for Yelp checkin which ended up being basic vegetarian egg rolls. To me, soup was bland tasting. Kung Pao had too much red and green bell peppers. Chow fun was okay but the wife said she really liked it. Egg rolls were nothing special but they were free. Fried won ton strips and dipping sauce were provided complimentary which was nice.
