This place is so good!! I got the lunch special, in the picture is the chicken cutlet, avocado roll, and mixed tempura. It came with the rice, salad and miso soup. I don't even really like miso soup and it was tasty. The servers are friendly and welcoming and our food came out quick. Everything came out warm and it all tasted great! Decent sushi for a small town. Rolls have plenty of sauce and flavors. There are many cooked roll options so little one and hubby enjoyed it. Service is ok. Calamari roll: the little one thoroughly enjoy and ate everything in a timely manner which is a rare occurrence. She rated it 5 stars. Dynamite roll: 4 stars. Decent. Had plenty of scallops on top. I felt there were lots of sauces so it kinda took over everything. Green dragon: 4 stars. Got to say it was good considering that I didn't get too much of that "eel" taste so it tasted pretty fresh. Am I the only one who doesn't understand the high reviews? I've tried sushi here five times. First experience a few years ago wasn't great but wasn't horrible either, it was acceptable. The people are very kind and the sushi chefs will send special "treats" to your table. You can also ask for real wasabi. My other expertises haven't been so great, and Ive gotten sick to my stomach twice after my meals here. But this is a small town and I just keep hoping they will get to together. Last night was the final-final for me. I had tuna sashimi delivered and it was inedible. It had a strong fishy and antiseptic odor and slimy reddish "juice". Absolutely revolting. read more

Well, well, well...... Guess where I am???? Yes, Dong Hae!! Trust me. The build up was worth it! Today I went with my niece and nephew. Sashimi galore!. The chefs brought us complementary seaweed salad and baked rolls. Such a nice treat. Salad was refreshing in between bites of fish. I enjoyed a Kylo Ren roll. Fresh tuna, cucumber, and avocado wrapped in rice paper. So good. It is not shrouded with rice. I can taste each flavor. My family had Salmon Sashimi that seriously melted in our mouths. When visiting I was met with a very chemical irritating smell that made me have to leave the restaurant immediately. They were cleaning up the back with mops and some cleaning solution while still taking customers and serving food. I assume the food is decent for Lompoc with all the other ratings, but I wasn't able to try the food because of the chemical smell made me leave. read more

Very good lunch spot and great friendly sushi chefs. Chef turned me on to a couple samples. The Lunch special consisted of a salad rice and your choice of three items off the menu they choose great value for what you get @$12.50. I chose spicy tuna roll, shrimp tempura, &chicken teriyaki. Also had the baked spicy salmon roll which was very tasty. The only minus was the Ahi tuna in the spicy tuna roll was slightly grainy in texture which should have been smooth and tender. read more

The family and I are so glad this spot is open again. We've come here for years and seen a few other sushi places (in town) come and go. Food quality and service has been pretty consistent here all the times we've come. A nice treat, that happens on occasion when you sit @ the sushi bar, is the chef(s) will give you a little treat on the house. Nice size portion of teriyaki chicken with nice charbroiled flavoring. The sushi tasted better than it looked. The salmon was actually pretty nice. So I just three stars? All in all it's a very basic experience at the restaurant. Kind of a dumpy bathroom. The dining area was closed but you could see it was very basic in quality. It hits pretty low. The stars are just errand for cuisine and value. I'd say we would definitely return because we like getting good value and can ignore marginal dining environment elements. read more

This is the best sushi place in town. I love their lunch bento boxes. The staff is awesome, the food is excellent, and eating at the sushi bar is a treat. They will typically give an "on the house" roll when you dine-in as well. I suggest getting their frequent diner card, even if you only use it infrequently. Holy crap-fluff!! The food here is GREAT! The building is kind of funky--it looks like a donut shop. But the interior has a very appealing ambiance and wonderful decor. The food presentation is superb, service is fairly attentive, and prices are quite acceptable. Choices of sushi rolls, appetizers, specials, and beverages is substantial, and again, everything tasted great. I was so focused on inhaling my dinner that I forgot to take a customary foodporn photo. The picture below shows my leftover bits the next morning! My mom and I have been going to this fantastic sushi restaurant for about a year and most of the time it has never disappointed. This restaurant is also very creative because they use Pepsi cups as lights. The sushi has great quality and is incredibly fresh. The staff is always nice and the sushi is delicious. The chef is very friendly. He usually gives us a five piece sushi roll for free! And with how scrumptious the food is it is served quickly! Stopped in here for dinner on my recent trip to Lompoc. You might not think sleepy little Lompoc would have a good sushi spot, but guess what? As is my custom, I always order the following nigiri as a litmus test of a sushi place: - hamachi - sake - binnaga maguro - ahi - ikura All were very good, although the yellowtail, salmon, and ikura were the better of the five. The albacore was a little softer than I like, and the tuna wasn't the best I've had. I have to complement their rice... on the ama-kuchi side, which is what I prefer (that's "sweet", Mildred.). There were lots of fun futomaki and assorted creative rolls to choose from as well, and we dropped a Franklin by the time we were done being piggies on vacation. The long and short of it: if you find yourself in Lompoc for whatever reason (likely car trouble, but I don't judge... I was there on vacation!) and you have a fever for sushi... this is your jam. read more

Surprisingly good! I haven't found a great sushi spot in the area and decided to stop by here on a whim without looking at reviews. We were quickly seated and everyone was super friendly and attentive. Indoor tables and bar seats available. You can only have two people at the bar and some of the tables are closed to practice social distancing. A few parking spots behind the restaurant. The tamago nigiri was not bad, but I probably wouldn't get it again. It was slightly dry for my liking. My husband and I unanimously ranked the rolls we tried accordingly: 1. Baked salmon roll - great basic baked salmon roll 2. Las Vegas roll - the flavors and textures worked really well. 3. Dragon roll - great basic dragon roll The flavors were great and the presentation was beautiful and simple. The rolls were wrapped appropriately. I've noticed a few places in the area where the rice is so loose that it falls apart. It's nice to see well wrapped sushi rolls where all the flavors are packed into one small piece piece. Nowadays, rolls seem to just be so big that you can barely fit a piece in your mouth. I think a lot of places try too hard to make these outlandish rolls that they neglect the basics. Labor Day, last hours. Needed food and husband treated me to sushi. Have never been here before and to be honest, very few comments from locals. I ordered the Dragon Roll and Hawaiian Roll. I love maguro which was abundant on the Hawaii and Dragon. Was very, very good. The fish was fresh and the sake much needed. Portions large, two/three biters per... Husband ordered the Teriyaki dinner. It was huge! He's usually not big on Asian but he plowed into his meal with abandon. Good sign! We will definitely be back when we are in town again. More of a 3.5 experience but I'm a fan of rounding up not down. We got there right when they opened. Found a table and looked at the menu. It was a lot smaller then I expected but they they had a great lunch special for 9.99 where you pick 3 options between gyoza, teriyaki, or sushi rolls, it also includes a small side salad, rice, and miso. We went with a combo of chicken, gyoza, and a salmon roll. The chicken was good, on par with other Japanese restaurants I've eaten at. My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed the gyoza. The salmon in the roll was very tender, I did take some of the rice off as there was a bit more than I would prefer. The only thing food wise I wasn't a fan of was their wasabi. I'm not expecting the real deal here in the US, but I expect SOME spice. I had to completely cover the roll in wasabi and while I got a mouth full of a grainy paste, there was no flavor to it. And as weird as this May sound, even though the food was okay, I probably wouldn't go back because my favorite part of sushi is the wasabi. But if someone else wanted to go eat here I would definitely give it another go. The service here was fine. The sushi chefs did send a small tempura sampler on the house, which was very tasty and kind of them. But as for the wait staff it was Nothing great, nothing bad. One of the waitresses was very friendly while the other had a "I don't want to be here" expression. Her demeanor is what really kept this from being a true 4 star review. I love sushi! I just moved here from the Bay Area where there are sooo many great sushi spots. There aren't many options here in town, but I'm making my rounds to see what the options are. Tonight I walked into this place and was quickly sat at the sushi bar. The server was very attentive and sweet. The sushi chefs were very good, they even handed me a free sample of a different roll. I had the garlic edamame and the 49er roll that was on special. Both were very good and the portions were generous for the great prices. Alright little spot to grab some cheap Japanese food. I got the tempura udon with a side of a crunch roll and green tea. Udon broth had an okay taste, noodles were yummy but I was not a fan of the large pieces of carrot and broccoli that were not cooked down at all. Came with fish cake, seaweed and oagesan (fried fish cake). Shrimp tempura did not taste fresh and tempura sauce was salty and sour which I prefer to be sweet. Probably will not be back. read more

Went for a late lunch on Monday and the place was empty. Service was prompt and polite, checking on us without being intrusive. He ordered the Washington roll (his go to everytime) and I had a variation of the spicy tuna. We both loved them. Food came out quick, looked great and tasted great. Prices seemed reasonable compared to other Japanese restaurants we have been to. It's nice to have a restaurant that doesn't close mid day as we typically eat a later lunch.
