Lompoc didn't have many eateries that opened late! We loved how this place did! Ambiance is kinda basic, but at least there were plenty of tables and seating! They did decorate for Christmas, so inside was festive! And they had a tv, which kept us entertained. I believe the owners were the staff helping us, so food was ordered in a timely matter and food came out pretty quickly. It was not busy, which I expected in a small town and since it was late, but there were customers. Food is great! And the rice bowls are large! Couldn't even finish our food after everything we ordered! Be careful of the spicy Korean dish though. Forgot the name- but it's like a rice noodle in red sauce! My boyfriend lives in Lompoc part time and we are exploring new food places... he's been here before but this was my first time. Fantastic! Both of us love Asian food. Especially spicy! We shared spicy garlic edamame, spicy kimchi fried rice and calamari.... Both had miso soup, he had the spicy chicken bowl and I had spicy chicken Ramen. No, I wasn't kidding about the spicy part! Lol. Yes, we ordered enough food for five people. No, we did not finish it all! Yes, we did have a second serving at midnight while watching movies! The food here is fantastic. Service was great. They close a little early, at 8:30 on a Friday.... But I think everywhere in Lompoc does. There was only one other table with people eating when we got there at almost 8. It did seem like they were doing a lot of business on to go orders. But if you have not been here, I highly suggest you go try it. They have a large enough menu with options for everyone. This place is extremely under-appreciated and slept on. Their spicy ramen is soul food and brightens my mood anytime I have it. The spicy ramen has a strong kick to it and the flavors are Amazing. Ok so first time i went here, it was fantastic. Got a spicy beef bowl. It was quick and easy to order for lunch and the service was great! The second time i went it was not so good. The beef was very chewy, and i sat inside so that was cool, but i felt like the quality had gone down in the beef cuts substantially. I will try a third time. Maybe i just got a bad batch. Edible fat is fine with me, but chunks of gristle over and over that i literally have spit out are not. Looking forward to visit number 3. Could have been an easy five stars. read more

VEGAN EATERS HERE.....Lompoc has a peculiar relationship with restaurants. While there have been some unique spots including Eye on I and the former Scratch Kitchen, it is a town that seems poised on the edge of discovering people who love there actually LOVE good food. In the meantime, it does offer a few rather noteworthy establishments that just serve great food, with consistently high quality at reasonable prices where I know we always leave, thinking of our next visit and wishing was just a little closer to us. Chow-Ya is on top of this list. It never disappoints, ever and you always leave with leftovers and have paid the surprisingly reasonable cheque. Did I mention how incredibly FRESH everything is??? It is singularly unpretentious, spotless, convenient and the combination of Asian foods (Japanese/Korean/Chinese) is not muddled and ultimately super satisfying. Kind, thoughtful staff, the cooks in the kitchen always wave goodbye. Popped in the other day at the end of lunch service (2:00pm) and rather than sending us packing or worse, looking for someplace else, staff just smiled and warmly invited us in, we were soon followed by several other stragglers who were just as happy as we were. Today it was their epic Crispy Tofu Teriyaki Bowl and Vegetable Udon Bowl, both shared and still took leftovers for another full meal and the Vegetable Croquets which we'd never tried before and were worth the whole meal!! Got there an hour before it closed so we were the only ones there but people kept walking in to get their order. We ordered the Man-doo appetizer that was good but watch out for the dipping sauce cause the spice sneaks up on you. The chicken rice bowl has fresh veggies, the chicken was most but rice was a bit too sticky. The gyoza soup was ok. Found the broth bland but added the spicy sauce from the Man-doo and that made it better. Service was friendly. This place is worth the try. read more

Chop this place in half then half again and it would be any Tokyo restaurant. Good service. Menu is both Japanese and Korean. Loved their yakisoba (fried noodles) and Udon (thick noodle soup) Authentic. Prices are reasonable for quality and ample portions. Lompoc has a real treasure in this place. read more

The quintessential definition of a lowered standards decent review. It's easily the cleanest Asian food in a town with none. Good portion size with quality ingredients. The food seems to have a fusion identity crisis. I don't really know who's winning between Korean, Japanese, Chinese, or any other vague cuisine. Much of what I've tried is the equivalent to a dish being described to someone, and they try and re-create it based on memory. I want to like it more, but something is definitely missing. read more
