Unlike most of the places in solvang, this place is not dog-friendly FYI. Parking is across the street in the public parking lot. I also don't know if they have an elevator here (for the wheel chair crew) since you have to go upstairs to the dining room area. My experience here was great, thank you to the front desk girl with curly hair for making the arrangement to allow our service dog inside since it was raining. We did not go to the dining room area for this reason. We were sat downstairs by the lobby / bar area and the servers brought our food downstairs to us. Ended up ordering a couple items; Shrimp Rolls: 4/5 - the wonton wrap was a nice touch, crunchier than your typical egg rolls. The sweet and spicy side sauce was great too. Chicken Fried Rice: 4/5 - nice and flavorful, maybe a little too salty if you are sensitive to flavor, but overall a great dish Chicken Pad See Ew: 3/5 - My least favored of all the dishes here. Great flavor but it was lacking the sweetness that a Pad see ew usually has Chicken yellow curry: 4.5/5 - Great flavor in this one. Nice and spicy, rich and coconuty. Could use more potatoes :) Pork spare ribs: 4/5 - Not your typical Thai pork spare ribs. I'm familiar with the sweet-sticky ribs that are usually glazed but these were not sticky or sweet by any means. Great flavor still, and the marinade was good with the rice Shrimp Tom Yum Soup: 5/5 - Flavorful and sour, does not serve more than one person unless you're trying to have a tasting lol. They need to offer a pot of this on their menu, very delicious Overall I would definitely come back here, thank you to the bartender at the V lounge for recommending this spot (he said he's been here 4 times in the past month.) Highly recommend ordering the Tom Yum Soup and Yellow Curry here !

Kanok is a bit of a hidden gem in Solvang. There's a bar downstairs with some small seating and the main restaurant is upstairs. They had a pretty good flow of guests so I definitely recommend making a reservation. The service was great, with friendly and attentive staff, the food was tasty and came out pretty quickly. They also have good drink options, including beer, sake, and local wines. We came with a group of six, and they offered to split the bill ahead of time, which was a thoughtful touch and really appreciated (especially since it's not something I usually even ask for). Overall, an, enjoyable experience and love that theirs a new Thai place in Solvang!

This place is awesome! I was SO excited to learn we were getting a Thai restaurant in Solvang and I love Tap Thai in Santa Barbara, which Kanok is affiliated with, so I knew this place would be delicious. The menu has the Thai favorites we love and we opted to try a few different options- dumplings, curry, and noodles. Everything was incredible. We were able to get a table right away on a Friday evening. They've decorated the space well. Such a nice ambiance. No dedicated parking but Solvang offers street parking and some lots. My only reason for giving 4 stars is that it took a while to place our order and we ran out of water without any offer to refill our glasses. Hoping the service will be better the next time we go. Highly recommend this spot!

Had a pleasant dinner experience at Kanok Thai Cuisine. Located across the street from Corque Craft House and the Local Tiki Bar, this unassuming business front leads to a stairwell and upstairs dining experience. I had the Shrimp Rolls to start, which were crispy and came with a sweet and sour sauce that was well balanced. For my main entrée, I had the Larb Gai, a traditional Thai salad with chicken instead of the standard pork seen in most Larb dishes. The fish sauce and spices were on point, without being overly spicy. I rounded out my meal with a coconut ice cream that was clearly made in house. It had a pleasant sweetness that was not cloying. Overall, the quality of the food and the price point was good. I would highly recommend checking this place out!

    Pad Thai

We visited Solvang tonight and saw Kanok Thai Restuarant. We were excited to order our to go food. It was so disappointing. The Pad Thai was tasteless and some sambal chili paste was included. Original recipe doesn't include sambal chili paste in a packet. The Tom Yum Soup was like just water based: We were expecting a spicy Tom Yum Soup. the flavor was nowhere near a Tom Yum Soup. I hope they can improve their recipe. Chef or cook or Kanok soup - you really disappointed us as we paid $41.00 plus for these two orders.

Food was delicious, service was great and the restaurant's vibe was a very calm and pleasant!

For my first visit, I am now a fan. The ambiance is nice and comfortable, with lots of natural light. I was quickly seated by a large window that looked out onto an area with tables for a bakery next door. Ideas for dessert? The menu is varied enough for folks, and I focused on the Gold Coast Grilled Cheese sandwich (sharp cheddar, gruyere, mozzarella, caramelized onions, parmesan crisp, The Baker's Table pain au levain vegetarian) with a choice of sides. I had also noticed a new offering, a creamy Fennel soup with local olive oil, and toasted almonds. I choose a cup of that soup for a side. The sandwich and soup came together, and the soup was steamy hot - literally! The sandwich has a side served up with grilled parmesan cheese, and the opposite side (or flip side, as I want to say) has the traditional grilled look. I have photos of both sides here. The soup was indeed creamy, and at one point I was trying to figure out how to answer someone who asks, "What does it taste like?" And I still don't have an answer. However, it does have a slight herbal licorice taste, but not at all overwhelming, and if you don't eat licorice, you may notice it but not be able to place it. However, if you don't like licorice, I think you would still enjoy this soup, as the flavor is very subtle. It was extremely delicious. The sandwich, with the parmesan crisp and mixed cheeses, was very cheesy, and I loved that. Overall, the food was outstanding and the service wonderful, with water refills on cue and quick service for ordering and closing out the bill. My server, Maggie, was top notch - thank you! If you are in Solvang and want a quality meal at a decent price (for Solvang) come here, and if they are less busy than usual, all the better!

The pastrami smoked salmon sandwich does not actually have pastrami but the pastrami spices are present in each bite of the smoked salmon. It worked so well, I wish I didn't have to share but with so much good food, unless my stomach is bigger, sharing allowed me to try more things. I was so happy that we had an option to have a cup of butternut squash soup with that sandwich making it the perfect soup and sandwich combo. The shaved Brussel Sprouts salad is so addictive that I couldn't stop eating it and was a great way to get more veggies in our diet. Even though I over ordered to try everything I wanted, shaved Brussels Sprouts salad, halibut tacos and pastrami smoked salmon sandwich with a cup of butternut squash soup, I regretted not coming back for dinner to have it all over again.

For the festival, streets were shut down but you'll typically find parking on the street, or in the nearby lots. Nice thing is that they're free too. At least the ones I've parked at. Panino isn't a full service restaurant. Order at the counter and wait for your order to be brought to your table, or for your name to be called if it's to go. Your order includes your drinks up front so if you want something else, get back in line and order again. Inside the shop, there's seating for about five/six people. Most were sitting outside. Your order is brought to you outside too if you're wondering. I ordered me a Half/Half. Half sandwich (Italian) and a half salad (Caprese) See pics. I enjoyed the salad. I was craving it so it hit the spot. The mozzarella cheese and fresh greens. The sandwich, I liked, but didn't love. It wasn't about the ingredients (even the green peppers which I've never seen on an Italian nor leaves of lettuce as opposed to them being shredded). If the dressing were more tangy, I wouldn't say I'd love it but at least crush on it a little so for me, Panino's version was ok. I wouldn't order it again knowing what I know but if someone shared a half with me, I wouldn't turn it down. Anyway, there's a long list of sandwiches on the menu. I'd definitely try other items on the list as well as checking out their other locations.

The food feels thoughtful without trying too hard, and every dish had so much flavor packed into it. The Crispy Pork Belly Sandwich was the standout for me. The gochujang Coca Cola glaze gave it that perfect sweet and savory balance, while the snap pea slaw added freshness and crunch. And somehow the brown butter cashew butter tied everything together in the best way possible. The Wagyu Pastrami Sandwich was just as memorable, rich, juicy, and super satisfying. The Swiss cheese, horseradish cream, sauerkraut aioli, and beef jus all worked so well together without overpowering the wagyu. We also ordered the strawberry lemonade and lavender lemonade, which were both super refreshing and perfect for brunch. And to end the meal, the sticky toffee pudding was absolutely exquisite. Warm, soft, rich, and easily one of the best desserts I've had in a while. I would honestly suggest not sharing it lol. Definitely one of those brunch spots where you leave already thinking about your next visit.

Coast Range seemed to check all the boxes, and they had an available reservation on the patio. We got (for us) the perfect table, which was a small area next to the entrance. Actually only our table, which was great for containing our puppy, plus a heat lamp and service over the pony wall which worked out great! We started with delicious cold, crisp martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives and a bowl of water for our pup. Our server (Chelsea B?) was so fun and friendly! We then had maybe the best wedge salad we've ever had! I think the lettuce was cut to, but not thru, the base, and opened up, with toppings inside. Roasted beet cubes, bacon, blue cheese and shallots, plus cherry tomatoes, hard boiled egg quarters and fried shallots garnish. It was incredible. I think they should call it "More than a Wedge." We also had the Ahi crudo, which had a delicious sauce and thinly sliced peppers. I wasn't too hungry, so had the French onion soup as my main course. So, it definitely didn't taste anything like French onion soup! It looked like it, and it was definitely cooked down onions but the flavor wasn't anything like I'd expect. However, it was really delicious and satisfied my craving for something warm & cheesy. So if you go in knowing that, I think you'll enjoy it. I don't like lamb, so my husband often gets it when we go out. When he took his first bite, I could tell he enjoyed it. He said it was some of the best lamb he's had and he's had a lot! It's à la carte, but did come with a tiny bit of salad and a roasted pepper which he thought was perfect. Since I was having the soup we didn't order a vegetable side, which we normally would, but this vegetable garnish worked perfectly for him. Definitely recommended!
