I would give this place 10 stars if I could! The food is always ready quick, and when you have it delivered, it's fast! We have never ordered an item we didn't like. The people who own and work at this location are so kind and courteous! I usually pick up, but we did delivery last time. I order two "signature" (same kids orders) every time. Their food is fantastic. Especially their Bean Curd Family Style. They can even make this dish gluten free - just ask for the white sauce. My issue is that no matter what vegetarian dish I order they serve it with pork fried rice. I've asked for vegetable only fried rice and they still deliver it with pork fried rice. I should qualify my review by admitting I am a huge fan of Mandarin down the street so my Chinese food standards in this county are higher than most. We did carry out. Owner(s) were there and we're really nice. Pick up and turn around time was easy. Prices were fair. Food was just not very good. Hot and sour soup, a staple, had the texture of gravy and missing a lot of taste. Entrees were lo mein and Kung Pao chicken. Just okay. Family and I are regulars at China Star. We have continued to go through number of owner changes. The new people are the best. They remodeled the interior and I would actually eat in now. Noticed a new dish on the menu that we had never tried before, it is called Mei Fun. It is fantastic!!! Mei Fun, fried rice and crab rangoon is all you need for some happiness. If those aren't your thing, try anything else on the menu. It is sure to please. Great place for the county. Enjoy. read more

Just tried this place for the first time and it is now my new go- to Chinese restaurant in the area! I had the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice and egg drop soup and all of it was ecellent! Terrible service! I've ordered from here twice, and they've gotten it wrong both times. Not to mention they often times refuse to take orders during their "busy times" such as lunch, and dinner. They are fast and relatively inexpensive. We love their sweet and sour chicken, crab ragoon, chicken fried rice, and pork eggrolls. We always order pick up, and the food is ready to go in fifteen minutes. All our experiences have been excellent. read more

The restaurant feels like an oven. Turn off the heat, it's HOT IN THERE! The portions are way too small for the price, when I was dining in a worker had her kid running around in the restaurant the entire time. They really need to get a baby sitter and not disrupt the entire establishment. That really shouldn't be allowed to happen some she's an employee at the place. read more

Having lived all over the St Charles, Wentzville, and ofallon areas I feel this is the best Chinese take out of the dozens I've tried. I'll admit I haven't tried everything on the menu but all my favorites are here and good. The white rice is amazing as are the appetizers. Our go-to place for Chinese take out. The food is always hot and delicious and the staff are always very nice. I love the new mei fun they added to the menu, it's one of my most craved items. I also like that they have sweet as opposed to savory crab rangoon. I have yet to order something from here that I was disappointed in. read more

We have attempted to order delivery multiple times, there are problems with the orders, poor customer service, quality of the food is poor, and all attempts to reach out to management have been unsuccessful. Rude. Not customer service oriented. At work, we try to order as an office to get multiple orders at once...we won't be ordering from here anymore. The food is adequate but it comes with a NASTY SIDE OF 'ATTITUDE'. Several times they have refused to take orders, lectured us about calling them and purposely hung up on us...the people trying to give them money. These actions have occurred on multiple occasions with several different people. I tried to reach out to management to try and identify the problem. Their complaints are that 1) Our employees often call during peak hours (5PM-7PM) a.k.a. ''dinner' time, 2) drivers complain our location is too far for convenience (we are 8 min away and they stated themselves it is a 20 min round trip), 3) they have to wait for the employees to come to lobby (the last time I checked...that's how delivery works...you call, they come, you pay and they return...and everyone parts as friends and hope to meet again soon). I suggested that they could call when close to cut down on wait time, but apparently they were having none of that.... After reviewing these issues, I was told (not very politely) that they just rather not have our business. If you want to eat here, you just have to do it at their convenience and not during the traditional evening dining times. China Star Management rather alienate an entire office and organization than do some top-notch customer service and deal with some inconvenience. If they had just said they would need extra time because of peak hours, instead of refusing service, we might have been cool and even tipped the driver more for going above and beyond...instead we got hung up on. While where you eat or spend your money is a personal choice, I humbly suggest that we accommodate their suggestion and NOT patronize this business any longer. Thank you. read more

In agreement with Charles M about Mandarin Gardens down the road, but was hungry for Chinese on a Sunday afternoon. I remembered this restaurant from years back and decided to try again on a quick carryout, Sunday at 12:45 p.m. it was totally empty (not a good sign). I ordered the House Special fried rice (pint) with extra shrimp and an order of fried wanton. The bill was $11.75. The waiter said 5 minutes. It was very quiet and all I could hear was some pan scraping, no sizzle of deep frying. Five minutes later a bag came and was handed to me. Not too much personality from the waiter. As I headed for the car the bag seemed warm not hot. Arriving home in about five minutes, I dug in and soon realized that the fried wanton was warm, tough and chewy. The fried rice was ok but the meat tasted like it had been well done, remember no loud sizzle from the kitchen earlier. I really expect my food to be cooked the same day not reheated. Needless to say I will not be back. However the shrimp had been warmed to perfection and not overcooked. read more
